One law for all, If you dont like it go live in Brooklin Heights.
2. Abuse is Abuse No Matter the Faith
Nancy ,   Crossville   (04.13.06)
You DO NOT shake a baby I dont care how hysterical it is. I also do not care what faith you are. A 3 month old can barely hold it head up much less stand shaking of any kind. You deserve what you get, and You should be ashamed of yourself.
3. A**holes - if he's innocent - he will prove it
(04.13.06)
Just like everyone else. Why do some haridim think they get special privileges.
4. Haredim
Caligula's Horse ,   Solomon's stables   (04.13.06)
I guess "Thou shall not murder" is not a law you consider worthy, shame on you!
5. I hope you guys will support your brothers...
Jeremiah ,   Israel   (04.13.06)
with the same zealous when Olmert starts to give away Yehuda and Shomron. Because until now you guys seem to be asleep on matter and your political leaders are busy wrangling for spots in the Olmert government.
6. please
G ,   shomron   (04.14.06)
I dont understand why Ynet has it in for religious jews. I wish you portrayed the friendly arivim in the same manner. WHAT IS WRONG WITH BEING JEWISH???
7. They rioted in Brooklyn
Elle ,   NYC   (04.14.06)
last week in the same way b/c one of their sect was arrested for talking on a cell phone while driving (against the law in NYC). They need to stop acting like babies. If they break the law, they will be arrested. Full stop.
8. not quite so
eliezer ,   Jerusalem   (04.14.06)
I and my wife happened to walk through Mea Sharim, the "hundreds" were thirty or so, of which half were not religious and half were religious onlookers waiting for the action. the picture of the lone old chasid walking with a small package past a burning garbage pile is really what happened - no hundred of "orthdox" rioter. Had I not been there, I might have believed your report, but I sincerely believe that you fire the reporter who dreamed up this grossly exaggerated story.
9. #2 - Hence the name "Haredim"

10. One law for all
Jose Nigrin ,   Guatemala   (04.14.06)
Why should haredi ultra-orthodox jews be treated differently, under jewish law? His uncontrolled impulsivness provoked the baby`s demise. That should be put on trial.
11. Haredi riots
Spencer ,   Israel   (04.14.06)
These Haredim think that they are a law unto themselves. Well, it's time that they were shown once and for all that they aren't. All that they do is bring the religion that they purport to love, into disrepute. Shame on them!
12. To 6
Shai ,   Israel   (04.14.06)
This isn't about being them being Jews, it's about them not being JEWISH. Get the difference? They should put these protesters in prison and give the guy who ADMITTED to killing his son a minyan.
13. Elle is right.
NS ,   Long Island, NY   (04.14.06)
Elle is right. If this heinous crime was committed in Brooklyn, they would have sent the riot squad to arrest the pervert. This isn't about driving thru a neighborhood on Shabbat. This is about the death of a defenseless infant. It is time that the Haredim grow the hell up.
14. Due Course
Daniel ,   Australia   (04.14.06)
The man was arrested because the police believe there there was enough evidence to do so. If there is enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he did what he was accused of doing, then he will be found guilty in court. If not, then he will be found not guilty. Its very, very simple. The "rioting" haredim need to settle down and let the process take its course. This has nothing to do with discrimination, but merely the upholding of the rule of law.
15. religious
einshem ,   isreal   (04.14.06)
its because of thses assholes we are like this

Instead of condemning the Israeli police and hospitals for being discriminatory, the Haredi community should thank them for caring enough about their children to have made an issue of it. What if the hospital knew that the baby was abused but didnt say anything because the baby is Haredi. Would that be O.K.? Child abuse is an illness and can happen in any community. Instead of denying the possibility, help the establishment protect the babies who cannot protect themselves. The hospital serves the Haredi community daily. They would not suddenly decide to discrimate and say there is abuse if there wasnt evidence of abuse. Regarding the police treatment.... It is clear they will not be kind to someone who so cruelly kills a helpless child. The man admitted to the killing, the marks are on the baby, what else is needed for proof? please stop the rioting and help the police and hospitals protect innocent citizens from those who abuse them.
17. media msg is Jews attempt to eat their young
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (04.14.06)
A Jew was arrested and may one hope such as what is described is just pulp. Even if true, G-d forbid, this headline is heinous because it is so prevalent despite the suicidal and putsch acts that endanger all the people that the media has no critical headline about yet wishes the reader to generalize the crime to the class of j’accuse. What I claim is yes this is an open event for adjudication yet the media makes no comment on an unelected party putsching, taking over the government. The sick mind and unbound heart does what he did and then his unelected poodle bashes the brains in and breaks the limbs, pertubates the threat to the rest of the nation. No headline on the putsch, only that the media accepts the putsch poodles claim that his less than 25% of the electorate is a mandate to destroy Jews lives and those who disavow such aspersion and claim to be only Israeli yet they who are pins come to kill all of you. You cannot reason with them as if there was something to negotiate. They were killing you before ’67 so those borders are meaningless except to make you more vulnerable. They had those borders before and they were murdering you whether you called yourself a Jew or an Israeli. There is no rational basis for committing suicide3 per omelet, arelim, and other poodles. It is you against the no borders people who believe in no religion nor nations. They complain about non-contiguity of another homicidal Hamite state outside of their peninsular homeland but care nothing of the lack of contiguity of what is left of your land. You must care about your land and not the headlines that ascribes horrible acts that even if true appear to be of the Jewish nature.

adam ,   herzliyya, israel   (04.14.06)
#17, calm down, no one has time to read all that, keep the hysterics to yourself
19. # 15 einsheim
keren ,   sao paulo   (04.14.06)
You can not blame others for the problems your society and yourself have. It is YOUR responsability not to let others let things "like this". The easiest is blame others, the hardest is take our own responsability and action to change things, that sometimes reached the point reached because our own lack in acting to prevent it,and our own lack in doing our own actions rightly.
20. Regarding riots in Brooklyn
Marlene ,   New York City   (04.15.06)
Why shouldn't they riot in Brooklyn? They know very well they'll get away with it by just using the accusations of anti-semitism! Like the boy who cried wolf, one day when the real thing comes along, no one will believe it. As for rioting in Israel..why not, they'll get away with it there also...of course, if they were Arabs and rioted, they would have been massacred by the Israeli authorities.

I have the impression you come to this site when your brains are doped. Or are they always doped? Or you simply never function very well ? You are quite weird...
22. Haredi father, dead haredi baby
leah amdur ,   jerusalem Israel   (04.16.06)
I agree with No. 16. I am a haredi mother, I have fostered two children who were in a very poor physical condition. I have taken both of them to Jerusalem hospitals more dead than alive. The staff have always been excellent to me and the children. The doctors and staff never descriminate and treat everyone as equals. They would not conduct a witch hunt. We have to admit there is child abuse in all sectors of Israeli society, it must be stamped out. The child comes first. There is also abuse of any kind of person who cannot speak for themselves whether they be child or adults, if they have mental problems or if they are special children they are innocent victims of perverts and crazy people and should be protected. Unfortunately there is a tendency among social workers to rehabilitate the perpetrators at the expense of the victim, which often leads to more suffering by the victim.
