Without Judas where would Jesus have been? Jesus probably would have died of old age in prison serving time for crimes against the state. Yes, without Judas there would never have been a crucifixion, a resurrection, a new testament and the eventual salvation for all of mankind! Judas could have held out for 30,000 pieces of silver, but no, he thought of all the believers in Jesus and bought your salvation for only 30 pieces. Be sure that the church is having enough trouble maintaining its role without having to cope with the Da Vinci Code or the Gospel of Judas. your argument is very valid, there were many miracles performed and Jesus showed himself to be the true son of God by conquering death. He did die, and rose again. God's word does not however, as you say, speak of any need for him to die again. Furthermore, he showed that he and he alone, has power over death. God's creatures, i.e., mankind, should taste death on earth--because we have all sinned and the wages of sin are death--But the wages of sin without Christ are the supreme penalty: eternal death. I heard a Catholic priest from Mankato talk about Judas betraying Jesus to the Jews to be crucified. However, I don't believe the Jews have ever crucified anyone. Crucifiction is a Roman thing. So, why not say he betrayed him to the Romans. Besides, I believe the most recent Gospel is the only one to mention the money thing.

First let me say that in my 57 years as a Christian I have never run across a group of Christians speaking about Jews and Jewish things with as much anger as the letters here show toward Christians. But perhaps you have good reason to criticize. To clarify some of the comments made here, Christians do not blame the Jews for Jesus death. They accuse EVERYONE . But especially themselves. I Have been going to church all week--being holy week and all. On friday I remember our whole congregation singing a Hymn with the words, " Alas , Lord Jesus, it was MY treason which undid Thee. " We think the sad truth is that the sins of the world , everyones--Jews and Gentiles-- are (and were) to blame-even Judas' sin. I hope no one will take comfort is a Gnostic paper written long after the protagonists of the story were all dead. If you read a few scholars, on line you will see that no one thinks that Judas actually wrote the thing. A survey of Americans was made a few years ago . In that survey it was found that it is Evangelical Christians , among all others, are most favorably disposed, think most kindly toward Israel and the Jews in general. There is nothing inherent in christianity that serves an antisemetic purpose. In fact, no teachings in christianity invoke hatred of any other religious or ethnic group. One of the major facets of christianity is equality of all people, hence the teching that all men are saved by grace, all they need to do is accept it. Further, if you are shortsighted enough to not realize that the term "men" is meant to refer to the entire sapiens species, you're off your proverbial rocker. The use of the term "man" was simply the linguistic style of the time. I guess my point is, don't assume that because one group of christians may subjugate a group of people does not mean all christians inherently share those practices. The christian religion does not, by any means, embrace any "kicking in the kidneys" of any group of people. If persecution has been carried out by christians (as we all know it has) the fiat for the action came, not from the religion, but from the social climate of the given culture. Again, in summation: Christianity condemns any claims at superiority, subjugation, persecution, and kicking in the kidneys. Don't blame Christianity for cultural problems.

Wow, the amount of hatred and ignorance about Christianity out there is truly amazing. If the same things were being said about Judasism, in respect to both the tone and the copious amounts of dis/misinformation, the same people would be screaming bloody murder (no pun intended). True, Christians and Jews have done a lot of horrible wrongs to each other, Christians (or at least those who had the name "Christian") more so than Jews. For that, each person will have to stand before God's judgement, Jew or Christian. If Yeshua was not Messiah, who is/was/will be? Who else has fulfilled the prophecies? Mr. Schneerson? Jesus probably existed and he probably was an observant Pharisaic Jew who was opposed to the Roman occupation of Eres Yisrael and the puppet high priest. He probably was only concerned with Jewish liberation more than anything else and ended up getting crucified by the Roman Pontius Pilate just as the Romans crushed or crucified any rebellious Jews.
