1. Not for nothing but...
Shai ,   Israel   (04.19.06)
Isn't this the same "crime" Yossi Beilin was guilty of before Oslo? Maybe he's been sent by Olmert? I've heard of stranger things, unfortunately.... The government is currently examining this MK, Barakeh and Tibi (33% of all the Arab MK's) for similar offenses, and as usual they'll find they are immune as MK's - so why the charade? Why the shock? Why even say that Abbas is good when he only opposes tactically bad decisions by Hamas and these MK's are bad (Abbas always says suicide bombers do not "serve Pali interests")? Either be clear that such actions are never permitted even by MK's, not even Yossi Beilin, or shut up. I'm all for making it clear that Israel demands loyalty of its citizens, and that its foreign policy is EXCLUSIVELY the province of our elected government, not of individual members of Knesset. All moves that are not cleared by the Israeli government (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) should be considered grounds from dismissal from Knesset. That goes for Jews AND non-Jews. One last point - this MK was not elected by E. Jerusalem residents, who are not citizens of Israel and do not vote in national elections. So what's his motivation in protecting this Hamas member's "rights"?
2. These Amalkites better be booted!!!!

5. Basic Law: The Knesset
Josh ,   Jerusalem   (04.19.06)
7A. A candidates list shall not participate in elections to the Knesset, and a person shall not be a candidate for election to the Knesset, if the goals or actions of the list or the actions of the person, expressly or by implication, include one of the following: (1) negation of the existence of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state; (2) incitement to racism; (3) support for armed struggle by a hostile state or a terrorist organization against the State of Israel. http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/MFAArchive/1950_1959/Basic%20Law-%20The%20Knesset%20-1958-%20-%20updated%20translatio
6. To Shai -# 1
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (04.19.06)
All roads, whether from Jewish collaborators or Arab ones lead back to one place - the yearning for Israel's destruction as a Jewish State. Therefore, when this is brought before the courts for the umpteenth time nothing will change. Why? The Israeli court system is Arabist in its outlook to the nth degree.
7. to #1
jason white ,   afula,israel   (04.19.06)
His motivation is he hates Jews,he wants to destroy the Jewish state and he knows there are Jews who do the same and worse. Treason in Israel is not a crime,it turned into an honorable profession.
8. Send the Arab terrorist occupiers to Syria.
Daisy ,   USA   (04.19.06)
It's unbelievable to me that Israel lets these traitors in their government. Where is the outrage from Israel citizens?
9. Dwarfs in the land of Midgets
Yoel Ariel ,   US   (04.19.06)
Charges of Treason? A veritable feast for the treason starved. Almost every MK and elected or appointed official appears to be elbowing to the front of the line for the honor/dishonor of being THE traitor of the milenium(to the Jewish people, no less just Israel). From the far left to the right of right center, they just keep the hits comming. Anybody else long for the days of solid honorable men like Begin or Jabo or Trumpledor?
10. Basic law cuts multiple ways
b katznelson   (04.20.06)
Given these actions of Arab MK's some guideline clarification of the basic law is clearly in order and the supreme court would be a good arbiter .But don't forget the Feiglinites in Likud who deny the democratic nature of the state and the one too many Jewish racists in the National Union and Yisrael Beiteinu who would marginalize, disenfranchise or expel Arabs. i thin it was Yoseph Burg a"h who said that being a moderate in difficult times is a very radical thing to be.
11. You ignorants dont know anything about Islam
(04.20.06)
Keep calling it a religion of peace or whatever but read what they preach, they preach hatred of anyone thats not them, they call us pigs and monkeys, and for the death of all of us. http://www.faithfreedom.org http://www.prophetofdoom.us Open your eyes before you have been stabbed in the back for helping these savages
12. Arabs
George Glancz ,   Ca, USA   (04.20.06)
It seems that in todays Israel, Arabs can do anything they want. Kill and maime Jews, support Terrorism, and live unpunished in Israel, and incite against Jews. However according to Mr. Olmert andhis cronies, Jews cant live in certain parts of Israel, and if they do, they are beaten up by Israeli military and Police. thats not the Country that we fought for.
13. May I say something?
keren ,   sao paulo   (04.20.06)
I thing Israel had been naive.Really,I think its governors were being naive up to now. How could they have let,for example, in such estrategic place asForeign Affairs and Defense Committee an arab, being(roughly saying)22 arab coutries against Israel?Weren't they sensitive enough to understand where such hearts would be pending? I really think it prevailed, up to now ,the good will -in this matter-among politicians , to have let such an anomaly to happen in the country. I can not think it could be another reason than ingenuity. I hope they woke up ,for once and all,for the nightmare they were bringing to the country!
14. Treason and sedition
yakov shani ,   afula   (04.20.06)
are very serious crimes. Pollard, whether we like it or not betrayed the country of his birth and residence. He spat into that proverbial well and is unfortunately paying a very stiff price. The same should apply to these traitors and also I might add to Yusuf bin Balin.
15. Shai # 1
keren ,   sao paulo   (04.20.06)
"Isn't this the same "crime" Yossi Beilin was guilty of before Oslo? " I didn't folow what Beilin did before Oslo;I would like to understand... And about "Maybe he's been sent by Olmert? " What do you mean? Please,if you could clarify I will appreciate. Thanks, Keren

18. Make it simple, only Jews can vote, the muslims swear
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (04.20.06)
allegiance to a vioilent cult, not to Israel. They have no right to be in Israel, it is not their homeland. Transfer, transfer, transfer.
19. #17 if we all listened to Jimmy....
DR ,   Florida, USA   (04.20.06)
we would not be the USA, we would be France or Belgium...not gonna happen!!!
20. Good Stuff
A Grateful American ,   US of A   (04.20.06)
i'm so glad that Israeli newspapers have Talkbacks in english so Americans can see the extremist attiitudes of the Israelis. Unfortunately, our biased media doesn't allow the true face of Israel to get through to us. Thanks, Israeli print media for the heads up!
21. A TRAITOR on Defense & Foreign Affairs Committee
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (04.20.06)
Treasonous Arab MKs act against Israel and spew forth their venomous hate for Jews and receive no punishment. The traitors are allowed to remain in government and receive nice, fat paychecks for their treason. The traitors are even placed on the Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee so they can pass on vital security information to Israel's barbaric enemies. There must be an immediate investigation of everyone responsible for allowing the Arab MKs to commit treason.
22. Islam
Muhammad-Ali ,   Montreal   (04.20.06)
You Zionists call Islam a terrorist religion becuz of those who commit terrorism in the name of Islam but forget the terrorists who commit acts of terror in the name of Judaism, would u like we call ur religion a terrorist one?
23. to Mo, #3
Drew ,   AZ, USA   (04.20.06)
Dear Mo, I really hope that you are able to find peace with yourself. If you need to leave Islam to do this, then so be it. Don't give up G-d, don't give up faith, and don't give up the seeking of justice, peace, and love. I wish you luck on whichever path you feel you need to choose...
24. #14, Yes, but we have laws against treason
AK   (04.20.06)
Penalty for high treason can be death. What are Israel's laws concerning treason and are they for real or sort of our immigration laws -- on the books but seldom enforced.
25. colonization
yakov shani ,   afula   (04.20.06)
By definition is the establishment of settlements on territories outside of the boundaries of the colonizing country or state. Israel has never colonized anywhere or at any time in history. The Golan is and was Israel proper, Judea and Samaria are and were Israel proper. Always and at all times throughout recorded history. President Carter was never noted for being particularly clever.
26. Yes Mohammad Ali
yakov shani ,   afula   (04.20.06)
colluding and coniving with the enemy in time of war is treason. no matter what you say to him.
27. To 15
Shai ,   Israel   (04.20.06)
Beilin began the Oslo track with illegal contacts with members of the PLO. Olmert may have requested this MK to do this to provide himself deniability. Whether it works or doesn't, he would be protected by Olmert from legal prosecution.
28. extremists to # 20
gil ,   ashkelon   (04.20.06)
The gap between jewish and moslem extremits:jews speak, moslems kill all over the world, even their own kins.Soon they will kill Abou Mazen because of comneding TA suicide attack.
29. To 22
Shai ,   Israel   (04.20.06)
Your logic is like telling the Chinese, with its billions of citizens not to use birth control because the Israelis, with it's 7 million do not. Why should Jews worry about a problem with terrorism that we don't have? Why should Muslims not worry when they do have a problem? That Jewish "terrorism" is not a world scourge is apparently clear to all but you is obvious, but as usual it could be a matter of definition. I fail to remember any acts by Jews in recent memory that fit the legal definition of terrorism as "an act specifically targeting civilians and/or non-combatants designed to maim or kill, such that the intended effect is to change the political status quo". Al Aqsa, Hizbollah, Al Qaeda, Islamic Jihad, etc. all have the desire of using terrorist attacks to remove Israel as a political entity, and Jews as "non-Muslims" and representers of the West, for the purpose of establishing an Islamic state runned under Sharia law. Before these Islamic movements, terror was by Pan Arab movements like the PLO, DFLP, etc. Any form of defense or offense against combatants on either side (armed militants, soldiers, etc.) is not an attack on civilians or non-combatants, and not terrorism. Motivations that are not political, such as those that could be tried for spontaneous apolitical murder (during a fist fight for example), are not terrorism. Acts of crazy people who are incapable of seeing cause and effect can't and thus can't "intend" are not terrorism. Nothing left. No Jewish terrorism. But, Palestinians think that tearing down a house used for a sniper's nest is terrorism, even though no civilians or non-combatants are killed in the process, maybe because it's scary and they are terrified that Jews fight back. By that definition, I suppose you'd have a pretty big greivance against "Jewish terrorism", but the solution is simply to lay down your weapons and use the conventional ways to negotiate a settlement rather than weapons and killing civilians and non-combatants as your form of "negotiation".
