1. Yeah Yeah... The US slams Democracy
richard Hitchings ,   methil   (04.20.06)
when it dont suit.
2. Re: #1 "Yeah Yeah..."
David ,   USA   (04.20.06)
A vote doesn't make a democracy. You need independant democratic institutions before a vote has meaning - of which there are none in the P.A.
3. 1 - democracy = elections: not correct
mike ,   usa   (04.20.06)
why don't you get a clue as to what democracy is. the fact that hamas stands for the destruction of israel means that they have violated a fundamental principle of democracy. maybe it suits your conspiracy theories about the US and israel to be a simpleton and speak about things you don't understand. that's fine, it's only a reflection on you.
4. #1-Hiler was also elected democratically
Arie   (04.20.06)
And I presume you want the same results
5. 1 Commie Hitchings The Storm Trooper talks again
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (04.20.06)
6. Ariel Sharon
Muhammad-Ali ,   Montreal   (04.20.06)
In 2001, Ariel Sharon, the war criminal who committed the Sabra and Shatila massacre and launched a brutal war against Lebanon was elected Prime minister and no one objected.
7. To #6
ME ,   USA   (04.21.06)
Your name shows where are you from. Why don't you go back to your home and shut up?
8. Democracy Under Attack by USA
Dean ,   USA   (04.20.06)
I'm appalled that our government is attacking the democratically elected representitives of the Palestinians. The US had no trouble supporting Israel when the Jewish terrorist leader Menachem Begin, and terrorist responsible for the bombing of the King David Hotel, was Israel's PM, or that Irgun terrorists were formed into the IDF and given general amnesty for murders and other acts of terrorism, so why the double standard? Perhaps GW is begin payed by AIPAC to work for the best interests of Israelis as clearly he is not working for the best interest of Americans.
9. Oh Mo, leave montreal and come to your beloved palestine
(04.21.06)
and give the canadians a respite.
10. To 6
Shai ,   Israel   (04.21.06)
To be precise, a lot of people rejected even if they recognized that the "brutal war" was already an ongoing civil war spurred on by the PLO, and that the Sabra and Shattilla massacres were performed by fellow Arabs as revenge for massacres the Palestinians inflicted on the Christian Arabs of Lebanon. The difference is that nobody has a reason to expect Hamas to change its views about the necessity to destroy its opponent Israel, whereas Sharon eventually became a dove and made significant irreversable moves that showed Israel's commitment to peace was not merely tactical, but rather strategic. So, you lose, Muhammad Ali of Montreal.
11. #6
Jane   (04.21.06)
The Maronite Christians of Lebanon did that, you lying piece of crap.
12. Clash of civilizations
Zionist   (04.21.06)
Pretty soon all terrorist groups will be united under their common goal of destroying Israel. It's just a matter of time before radical Islam forms a joint, international movement against the Jewish State. If we don't find the solution soon, the "clash of civilizations" will raise its fists and a world war will brake out. We must defeat this force which is the continuation of Nazi Germany, just currently without a Fuhrer. The world of morals must unite against the world of oppression. The sooner the better because time is running out.
13. 6 Muhammad-Ali: Now you have been already
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (04.21.06)
posted incitement and actual hate about the IDF girl - I will NOT repeat what you called her - but your post was removed for you start to violate constantly all rules FACTS .......... The Lebanese Christian Phalangist militia was responsible for the massacres . Christian militiamen started a three-day killing spree in Sabra and Shatila on September 16, 1982. NOW STOP TELLING LIES ....... Why in fact do you want to post here - You are an sorry Islamic Jihad pusher - it shows with each posting
14. As always I hold the PA responsible.
Tal ,   Israel   (04.21.06)
They are at the heart of this more then anything. For years Israel tried to show the world that Arafat was a terrorist, that his Fatah party was the incubator of all terror but the world choose to not see it. Time we set the record straight once and for all. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3241844,00.html #7 Stop the White House from hosting Abbas in May. He never should have been invited there in the first place. Nice we have Hamas to blame but again the very core of all terror lies in the leaders, past and present of the PA.
15. U.S. denounces appointment, says Hamas' true nature exposed
Tal ,   Israel   (04.21.06)
Without the PA, Ham-ass would be nothing. Tell me US what is the true nature of the PA and why have you continued to lie and cover for them? For as much as I hate Hamas it is wrong for the US government to use them as a scapegoat while ignoring the real truth behind the PA. Face it, Fatah terrorists killed more Jews than Hamas and anyway, they are all one in the same. Fatah incubated and opened their arms for themselves (terrorists) and every terror group inbetween. The US needs to stop appeasing the Palestinians to appease the rest of the world.
16. #!3 Gabrielle Goldwater....
Tal ,   Tel Aviv   (04.21.06)
You told #6 NOW STOP TELLING LIES ....... Lies, murder, hate and jihad is what they know. It is the very foundation of life from their first breath to their last. These idiots come to YNET posting all kinds of trash and when asked to clarify their monstrously obscene lies they never reply. They can't. Lies can not be refuted except with more lies. Shalom to you and yours!
17. Re#12
Jon   (04.21.06)
U are exactly right, Israel is the most opression power on earth, hence all the world should stand united against this arrogant state...
18. #10,#11,#12
Nick ,   USA   (04.21.06)
" Sharon eventually became a dove and made significant irreversible moves that showed Israel's commitment to peace was not merely tactical, but rather strategic" I am about to bust laughing, do you really believe that, Piece means sharing equally, not giving up what you cant deal with. True piece is giving Palestinian rights under united states resolution and road Map and Arab piece initiative, not reject them all and but 14 conditions on Road Map and then claim piece, are you trying to kid yourself or blind others. And for your information guys, reason Israel is blamed for sabra and shatila, is because they signed an agreement with PLO and USA to protect all Palestinians civilians left behind in return for PLO leaving Beirut. Which as usual, Sharon hatred to Palestinians and the fact that he didn’t want the war to end that way, drove him to brake the agreement (as usual) and moved away, opening the door for the Christian militias’ to get in and kill innocent people.( law says, killer and accomplices are all part of the crime). Your own government convicted Sharon then and asked him to step down from his post. do I need to tech you own history....for sake of argument , let the new government do what they feel might help the security in their area, weather he is in post or not, he will encourage resistance, and you will escalate it to kill their kids, what is another excuse going to change, to the Jews, all Palestinians are terrorist , It even got to the point of killing 3 month olds in the name of fighting terrorism.
19. hamas appointment
alex ,   canada   (04.21.06)
Well, Olmert wants to release hamas prisoners and not respond directly to Israeli blood being spilled.Hamas opposes the existence of Israel and there is nothing that Olmert can offer them to change their mind. On the contrary, he will encourage them. Arabs understood in 48,56,67,73 and Entebbe to reach some truce with Israel because of israel's strength. Military will not solve the problem;however it should not be neglected. Gaza should be scorched if rockets come forth and Hamas leadership to their credit take responsibility. They are more honest than Fatah. General Moishe Yaalon is the man to guide Israel through this period as Olmert cannot do it. He is not cool enough under fire.
20. #6 Arabs kill Arabs and as always
Jenny   (04.21.06)
they blame the Jews.
21. Muhamad and others who support terror..
DR ,   Florida, USA   (04.21.06)
What is wrong with you guys? It is obvious that the Palestinians are not the victim here. Violence is all they know. to defend terrorists and compare them to Israeli political leaders is just stupid. I expect this nonsense from a brainwashed fool like Muhammd, but not from "educated" Americans. Get a clue people. Sides are being chosen...don't be on the wrong side.
22. come to school
stefano ,   upstate ny   (04.21.06)
(sigh) do we have to plow the same ground every week? #1 - U.S. isn't slamming "democracy". U.S. believes idealistically that in the *long run*, democracies are *more likely* to produce societies oriented toward life, prosperity and happiness, rather than death and destruction. This is a theory generally borne out by history, but it should not be extrapolated to be true of Radical Islamic Arab countries, or Iran, which have obvious pathologies rooted in their dark religious beliefs. So the U.S. is actually guilty of unjustifiably believing the best about the pals. Iran is not a democracy, since true power is vested in unelected reactionaries, and the only reason the pals have ever had an election is due to U.S. influence. In any case, according to your logic, U.S. should accept any choice of any elected regime. The quassams could be replaced by Katyushas, 20 suicide bombers per day could be detonating themselves in buses and shops, demonic thugs could invade homes at dinner time and slaughter the family in cold blood including the pregnant mother (remember these?), with such actions blessed and encouraged by the elected gov't of the pals, and even sponsored by a deputy Interior minister. And amidst all this carnage and blood lust, the U.S. should bow in deference since they were products of "democracy". After all, to do otherwise would be "hypocritical"!! No, the US is discouraged that given this singular opportunity, the pals are throwing it away, due to their blind hatred. They would rather kill and be killed, and have their sons and daughters killed, than to live as neighbors in peace with the nation of Israel. Nothing has changed in 50 years...do you know the history of 1948 in Haifa, Jaffa ... ? #6 - As others have pointed out, you are in error on your facts, and even your basic point is invalid. The war in Lebanon was not warmly regarded in Israel, and worked against Sharon getting elected, and was not the basis for his popularity in Israel nor for his international acceptance. Rather, the world came to see Sharon's actions as justified given the utterly vile, bloodthirsty and inhuman acts orchestrated by his enemies, Yassin and Arafat. Speaking of Arafat, then, it would be more appropriate for you to cite how the U.S. tolerated Arafat, the utterly corrupt ruler of the PA and erstwhile gleeful murderer of civilians in Jordan, Lebanon, and Israel ... "just" because he was elected!!
23. Chill Gabe relax
Jacob ,   DC   (04.21.06)
It's like this A Jew looks and something and wonders hmm...If I water it, will it grow? Were barbaians like mo think, hmm...If it bleeds can I kill it? This will never change, so don't get worked up. Peace and love
24. Attacks now = official PA policy: PA declares war
howard ,   pacific coast, usa   (04.21.06)
The PA government is now officially the sponsor of all Palestinian attacks against Israelis. It is now an enemy government in all senses. Terrorism is now its official, publicly stated policy. I supported Disengagement from Gaza. I still hope that there will eventually be a peaceful settlement that allows for a peaceful Palestinian state. But it is clear that the PA under HAMAS is simply and purely an enemy state and should be treated as such. The peace process between Israel and the PA is now officially dead; the PA has opted instead for an official, futile and pointless little war.
25. #6 you are wrong on all counts. Also #1, #8
howard ,   pacific coast, usa   (04.21.06)
1. The people who went into Sabra and Shatila and massacred Arabs there were your fellow Arabs -- Christian Falangists loyal to the SLA. Sharon did not stop it, but did not cause it to happen. 2. The war against Lebanon was not particularly brutal. The casualty figures were very low. The war in Darfur, Sudan, is brutal. The ongoing civil war in Iraq is brutal. The Iraqi invasion of Iran was brutal. WW2 was brutal. The Lebanon invasion was primarily an attack on the PLO, which was using your country as a staging ground for continuous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians at the time. 3. A lot of people objected when Sharon was elected PM. A lot of people refused to meet with him. As for #1, #8: Suppose Mexico suddenly adopted a policy of shooting rockets at the USA and sponsoring terrorist groups that carry out suicide bombings in the USA. Suppose that Ireland were to do the same with the UK. The US and the UK would not worry about how those imbiceles came to power. They would treat them as enemies, period. The US is simply recognizing who is the constant aggressor in this conflict.
26. #6 & replies to it!
Billy ,   Canada   (04.21.06)
Snapping #6 is not objective & reflects only anger! Only Shai of Israel, in my opinion, is giving sense in this respect! I can add that Sharon is a highly decorated military man, beloved by his nation besides being a world class state diplomat. He was cleared from all charges related to Sabra incidence, nationally & internationally. Is not that enough?
27. To #9, 10,11,12, and 13
Muhammad-Ali ,   Montreal   (04.21.06)
An Israeli Juridical inquiry found Sharon indirectly responsible for the attack. The so-called "clash of civilizations" was intiated by Geore W. Bush to empty the world from ppl who want justice for the Pals. I'm not a Pal, i'm a Leb and have the right to live in Mtl nameless moron. The West was always hostile to eastern civilizations. The "clash of civilizations" is between us and the West not the Christians and Jesus was born in Bethlehem (in the church ur fellow bros torched and sieged) and not in NY or in Mtl. In late-May 2005, Sharon, the war criminal, said that there will be return to the Green Line, that the refuges will not return, and the Jerusalem will remain in Israel's hands and has made 14 amendements to the "roadmap". Israel was never committed to the truce. Gaza was a stolen land.
28. Muhammad-Ali
Navi ,   Montreal, Canada   (04.21.06)
I would love to explain reality to you and end your incessant spewing of garbage rhetoric.
29. not all canadians are backward
jared ,   montreal   (04.21.06)
mohammad-ali is living in the dark ages, and, he surely does not speak for us montreal'ers. there are still plenty of jews here --- thank g-d --- and we support israel in her fight to remain a jewish state, regardless of what islamofacists like mohammad have to say!
30. ignorants israelis
ابو العبد ,   Tulkarem   (04.21.06)
all the massacres that is happing in iraq now are on Bush's watch, just like it was in lebanon. just cuz IDF did not do the killing( wihch am not sure of) does not clear sharon from it. Sharon is a war criminal and needs to be put on trail like sadam.
