There is only one kind of religious Jew, the TORAH-OBSERVANT kind. The Kotel is a religious sight and as such needs to be run in a religious matter, so that religious Jews can feel comfortable at our holy site. The Torah mandates that there should be a separation between men and women for tfilah. Conservatives should be able to pay at the Robinson site in their own fashion if they choose. However, government money should not be spent for religious services of religions other than the true and only form of Judaism, Torah-observant (i.e. "Orthodox"). Also, to not have a mechitzah would exclude all torah-observant Jews from that minyan. However, having a mechitzah doesn't prevent Conservatives from praying at the wall. Furthurmore, why do Conservatives even care about the wall. They have no interest in restoring korbanot. That means that the site of the former Beit HaMikdash doesn't mean anything to Conservatives. The fact that they need to separate themselves from the rest of the Jews is exactly why the B"M was destroyed in the first place. If we had national unity back then, the B"M would never have been destroyed. How can we ever rebuild it if we don't get along??!!!

Its not the seperation of the sexes I have a problem with. It's the PAYING for the RIGHT to PRAY! How dare ANYONE tell ANYONE they have to pay a fee of any sort to do what G-d ave them the right to do for FREE! Paying to visit is one thing.. but paying to pray is just WRONG!!
33. Nancy#32 is right!!! no jew should be charged for praying
Daniel ,   Paris   (04.26.06)
It should be enough that mixed minyanim are allowed and take place elsewhere the Kotel, it is a shame for the Hebrew democratic government to allow such a thing ( a point for #10 Steeve ??!!!!?), We miss Unity among Israel, and won't reach it with disrespect, any of us should be able to go freely near this holy place, and of course, a place for all way of praying with "tsniut" ( pudor and respect for others way) should be available, by the way, it is a very light analysis to categorize judaism as a mysogin faith, it is a lack of knowledge and psychology not to understand that men a,d woman have to face G-d in prayers separatly, Tefilah is a Vertical Relationship : no really matter what and who is around, unless for the stenght and weight of doing it together just like we accept that if a word is said by ten people at same time it will be heard better and from a longer distance than if you say it alone... G-d loves all jews ( and probably all Mankind, since he created it and the world by the Hessed Mida; i hope;-)),

THe article doesnt make it clear that all people are permitted to pray at the wall for free as long as the men pray on the mens side and the women pray on the womens side.
35. Sorry John, you're wrong...

"Nothing you do makes a difference in the sight of God, only what you earnestly believe in your heart. So long as your belief in God is strong and right in your heart, then eat all the cheeseburgers you want!! " That's awful Christian of you John, but as a religious Jew I am commanded to keep many commandments -- as it's stated in Torah. To say that we can do ...(you filll in the blank ) doesn't matter because G-d knows we're good people "in our hearts." Oh, cheese burgers are out for us too, John -- peddle Christian thought on a Christian site...
