One can't but be embaressed as a Swede by the actions of ones own government. The loss will of course entierly be on the Swedish side. It's election year and our new temp FM is a total pal-lover. The Swedish airforce has all along known about the Israeli participation and had no objections. The whole thing got messed up when the social democrats and their bureucrats in the foreign ministry got note of it and demanded it canceled. As the Swedish defence is more or less totally getting scrapped they are used to bending over for the politruks. It's a shame our pilots, that truely are an endangered spieces, didn't get a chance to learn from Israeli as well as other European pilots. The Swedish air force, once the third largest air force in the world (during the cold war) produce superior air planes. We don't need cooperation. Chris, you don't like when people talk "badly" or should we rather say dig up unpleasant FACTS about Sweden? For years while I was living in "neutral" Sweden, I had to listen to vulgar anti-Jewish and anti-Israeli hate propaganda and lies about Israel. Now you know how it feels like when people attack you and this time it is completely justified and Sweden deserves ALL criticism on this website and MUCH MORE. well, actually using the argument that the allies saved the swedes is not even true, as swedish "neutrality" can be freely interpreted as siding with whatever side that seems to be winning. there was never even a need for the nazis to occupy Sweden as they (the nazis) where free to do whatever they wanted, such as transport troops through sweden to in order to occupy Norway.

And for the record, Sweden operates a very competent Air Force which, granted, has lost it's former position and reputation as the worlds 3'rd largest air force which it held during the Cold War; but it is still today very capable, operating JAS39 Gripen's which in exercises with (among others) the Norweigan Air Force has proven far superior over the F16. Swedo-o-phile, do not worry about the nasty comments some people make about Sweden. the action taken by sweden is the right thing ie not taking part in the Air force drill since one of the nations, which does not believe in peace is taking part in the drill. Though the name Israel is not mentioned most comments presume it is Israel and making nasty remarks and calling Sweden anti semitic. It looks like most people think Israel does not beleive in peace. Well.. All I can say is that most involved swedes were surprised as well of the decision made. Luckily that PRO-Palestine government has since that been voted out of office.
