The youth are obligated to go to the army, and its there right to have comfortable clothing to make there service more berable, Why is this country still being run by 17th cent, black hatters.
2. And the Tiabas days returned
Robert Goldman ,   cooper city Florida   (05.07.06)

3. Dress them in Bourkas. They can then work under cover.
Alan ,   SA   (05.07.06)
4. IDF ladies
Kassam ,   Ramallah   (05.07.06)
If the IDF send us these low cut platoons, then IDF is welcome in the West Bank. We do not want a hot occupation we want hot occupiers
5. You're in the army now, ladies
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (05.07.06)
Have some respect for yourselves and the uniform and what it stands for. When you go home on leave, dress the way you want to. But you will see that you will get more respect if you dress in a less provocative manner. But while they are at it, incidents like what happened on the Air Force base with the 13-year-old girl should be avoided by pre-induction training in proper behaviour by male soldiers. And ALSO for officers NOT TO TOUCH female soldiers under their command. And I'm soneone who used to dress in a mini skirt in my younger years and was pretty wild.

BEN W. ,   FLORIDA   (05.07.06)
COLIN, GET A FASHION DEGREE AND LET REAL LIFE CONTINUE WHILE YOU FORGOT THE VERY ESSENCE OF THE IDF'S EXISTENCE.
7. Violation my @##
Pervert ,   Beersheva   (05.07.06)
These fine IDF hunnies should be able to wear their lowcuts, what else do I have to keep me entertained down here in Beersheva. Honestly, they should be promoted. I say let them wear the low-cuts, the dazzy dukes, thongs, whatever they want!!!
8. Best looking army in the world
Lina ,   USA   (05.07.06)
Time to change. This is 2006 not 1948. These uniforms are very unflattering. Why not look good and be comfortable while in uniform? Hardly provacative and since when do you earn respect based on the style of pants you wear? Give them options.
9. Hey pervert! These ladies are not your play things!!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (05.07.06)
Many of them are doing very serious work, like training soldiers!!! And defending our shores!!! So, keep your filthy comments to yourself! And show a little respect!! What if one of them was your sister???
10. Low Cut pants
Alex ,   Australia   (05.08.06)
Everyone is missing the point that the pants must be functional, it is afterall an army uniform. When you have to bend over they are not practical and your shirt comes out and goodness knows what else shows, just not practical!!! Also low cut is not always flattering on some figures so no one can win the fashion war. Leave it alone for practical and modesty sake.
11. Right on! Lena and Colin
Elad Lending ,   Israel   (05.08.06)
Soldiers who feel good about themselves will do their job better! Why force women to wear uniforms in the most unflattering way possible?
12. Shame on you ladies!
Nancy ,   Crossville   (05.08.06)
Pardon me, but the army is not a Fashion Show.. so stop dressing like it.
13. why not?
dave ,   herzliya   (05.08.06)
why can't these girls dress the way they feel comfortable? We've got a damn good looking army, let them do their thing
14. Does it matter? They use soldiers to steal Jewish homes in
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (05.08.06)
Gaza, to beat people in Amona, to steal a home in Hevron and someone is worried about the morality of women's "uniforms." Sharon and Olmert destroyed morality in the IDF, let the women do any damn thing they want, it isn't even 1% as bad as stealing the home of a Jew. "I was just following orders" all over again sixty years later as history repeats itself.
15. Go back to your burrow Bunnie
LS ,   Israel   (05.08.06)
I am becoming tired of your rightist crap. If you care so much about what is happening over here - then come and live here an try to make a difference instead of writing stupid messages about every news item.
16. Best looking army in the world?
Lior ,   London   (05.08.06)
Lina, an army isn't constituted, trained and put into action to "look good" - except, possibly, the French Army (General de Gaulle had the Canadians sanitize Paris before the Free French marched in just so the French uniforms would still be clean for the cameras). The Israeli army is conscripted and trained and sent to fight - and that means, in this instance, to kill. To fight and to kill require a certain psychological attitude and mental poise, neither of which is fostered or maintained by sartorial over self-consciousness or preoccupation. Compared with the nice, smart, clean and overly-fashionable but still unused, untried and untested present-day French army uniforms - no doubt designed with homo-eroticism in mind - your average Israeli looks like a rag-bag if for no other reason than his uniform is functional and as a result and unlike his French counterpart, he is also a functioning soldier. If women are to be accepted on the front line of combat - yes, I am sorry, it comes down to this - they must first attune themselves to the fact that what they look like is utterly immaterial over how effective they are at soldiering. If their male counterparts don't alter their functional uniforms and behave like little French tin soldiers, then the first test of female effectiveness on the front line is likewise to eschew all self-conscious considerations of fashion. An army uniform should serve three purposes: functional design - including safety - for the task in hand, correct design so that the wearer forgets he or she is wearing it in order completely to concentrate on the task in hand, and identification in battle to comrades-in-arms. The rest is immaterial. You're in the army now, not on the catwalk.
17. To #1
Hans ,   USA   (05.08.06)
Last that I checked... when you're in the military you are subject to THEIR rules. I don't approve of women in the military (at least in combat roles) to begin with, but if they MUST be there then it is imperative to leave out the sexual provocation that such revealing dress creates. Ladies in the military should be learning how to march in formation, not walk the catwalk.
18. Girls Uniforms
Josh ,   Atlanta   (05.08.06)
I understand that what you look like in uniform doesn't really matter when you think about what you're there to do. Yes, they should be made to dress appropriately. However, no matter how long they're in the army, no matter how well aware they are of the grave situation of the constant threat of danger and war, they're still going to care about what their clothes look like because that's part of what makes them girls. Handing a girl a gun doesn't make her any less feminine. When guys are in the service, they still care about petty things like ball games and soccer matches don't they? Should they be cut off from all those unneccessary diversions simply because they're in the military? You can never completely cut them off, because guys will always like those sorts of things. I agree, make the girls wear the proper standard uniform, in the Marines, I think every Marine has to wear the same type of eyeglasses, no variations in style are permitted. You can only wear those big goofy glasses that look like they came from the 1950s. That's good, keeps everyone looking uniform. However, let's not criticize them just because they want to look good, which is a natural part of being female. We ought to be thankful that they're not becoming too hard and masculine.....that their femininity isn't beaten out of them by serving in the military. **I have to admit that I'm biased by the fact that I've seen some incredibly hot Israeli girl soldiers. Off duty, of course.........but on duty girls.........pull them britches up!! To the task at hand!! You can go out and be all flirty looking later.
19. Army of Women is a sin
Moshe ,   USA   (05.09.06)
By putting women in the army we are saying "Violence against women is ok" after all, they also are killers. But yet we know that a man who kills a woman has done something shameful. So this game of puting women in the army is evil, and yet having "religious" men sit idle to let such women take this role is also shameful.
20. IDF: All out war on low cut
Melvin L. Leppla ,   Jacksonville, USA   (05.09.06)
These young ladies are forgetting in what they are in the IDF for. Are they there to fight the enemies of Israel or have sex with them
21. Uniform
Daniel ,   Australia   (05.09.06)
High waistline - definately not hot! #19 - If you knew Israeli women, then you would know they are more than capable of handling themselves!
22. Low cut pants
Jay Stang ,   Houston, USA   (05.09.06)
I am laughing so hard I can barely type. Good thing the IDF hasn't lost its mind.
23. Are you kidding, Colin
Bart ,   CO   (05.09.06)
It's their right to have comfortable clothing to make their service more bearble? It's their duty and obligation to follow the rules to the letter...you are not allowed free thought when you are in the army, nor can that be permited....you are a soldier that needs to react instictively to your training.
24. Not real soldiers
Alissa ,   Tel Aviv   (05.09.06)
They are not real soldiers anyway, and most probably are doing unnecessary jobs while listening to sexist remarks from their officers
25. Shallow Truth
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.09.06)
The sad truth is that people are shallow. They accept what you present to them and treat you accordingly. If Israeli women in the IDF don't want to be treated like mattresses then the first step is to stop dressing (and then acting) like mattresses. And I say good for the IDF. Its not a teenie-bopper club-girl fashion parade. Its an Army. And Israeli army that has been at war for almost sixty years running no less. They are there to do what they are told to preserve the state. Their desire to look good doing it is utterly irrelevant. If they took their service more seriously, perhaps they would be taken more seriously.

Your reply is stupid as well as being distasteful.
27. Simple logic
yakov shani ,   afula   (05.09.06)
Anybody ever given any thought to the meaning of the word UNIFORM.
28. hip vs waist pants
peter ,   amsterdam, NL   (05.10.06)
'Uniform' meaning 'one dressing code' doesn't mean there are no variations within that category. These girls adapted standard issue pants to their wants, they changed the 'fit', not the military look. Guys do that all the time(open shirts with a lot of breast hair showing), seen them on photo's lately? Quote senior official Northen Command: " ...this is a severe blow to the norms and disrespect to army uniforms." Does he mean you can't adapt standard issue pants? The respect part is somewhat skewered, anything you don't find agreeable is suddenly unworthy. Discipline is not in clothes, but shown in action in the field.
