I don't think that this is what Sharon had in mind when he established the party. I also don't think that this is what the voters voted for. The idea was to have a centrist party. One that understood the need for withdrawals but that wasn't a pushover like Labor. At this point, whether the parties unite or not, Olmert has already given Labor such a huge influence in the government that it doesn't even matter if they unite.
2. Say it like it is Shimon.
Joy Springreen   (05.08.06)
“What do we need two separate parties for? We need them united.” never a truer word spoken.
3. The difference is Shimon was not elected
Steve ,   USA   (05.08.06)
B"H That is a merger would have Shimon back at the top again without the election underneath from the Labor Party. Why lead before the main election after a primary defeat when after the election is a much more opportune time to get back together with Labor?

doesn't get it; a loser who needs to be quiet and stop with his 'ideas', all of which have been flops, now he is trying to get back into the labor party that originally rejected him. what a schmuck.
5. Peres would join with ham-ass to give Israel away.

6. Absolute Classic Peres
Jonny May ,   London, UK   (05.08.06)
This is absolutely classic Peres. He says one thing and does quite the other. This reminds of the "What Shimon says" campaign when he went for President in 2000. If there is no different between Kadima and Labour why the hell did he leave Labour taking Dalia Itzik with him?! Absolutely crazy. Will this guy ever learn?!
7. Now THAT is convergance
Yoel Ariel ,   US   (05.08.06)
You mean they are not the same thing? Who knew? Lets count up now. Kadima is left. Labor is left Meretz is left rabs are left Shas is greedy Y'B is right Likud is defunct NRP/NU is where???? Israel's electorate/residents are: OUT OF LUCK for the forseeable future.

Jenny ,   NYC   (05.08.06)
This guy has more lives than a cat. Can't he retire and try to salvage just a miniscule amount of self-respect? Shimon, you have practically divided Israel's people in 2 and YOU lost to Peretz of all people. RETIRE please before you destroy the country!!!
