If these countries hadn't attacked and instead encouraged moderation and dialogue, then Palestine would be celebrating their 58 year independence along with Israel. And as far as Jews not being able to live with other people, the Jews have always contributed much more than their number to the countries they lived in, Syria included. It is true that in Israel, relations between Arab and Jews are often marred by bitterness, discrimination and mistrust, because of the conflict. However, relations are not as bad as they were in the Arab countries, and when the Israeli governement offered to let Arab cities live under Palestinian rule during peace negotiations, the Arabs refused saying that they are Israelis and didn't want to live under the PA.
