1. Hungry children? How can a Jewish country do this?
Karen R ,   Maryland   (05.18.06)
If the children really are going hungry because of Israeli actions, then Israel really is experiencing a crisis of Jewish identity - not of numbers but of values. If the children and grandchildren of those who starved in the concentration camps are carrying out policies that are keeping children - any children - from having enough to eat, then something is wrong. Surely Israel can protect itself from terrorism without causing innocent children to suffer. Even if it weren't immoral, you can bet those hungry children of today will be the enthusiastic jihadists of tomorrow. In this case morality and self-interest are the same. Don't punish the children for the sins of the parents - and usually not the parents themselves but their ideologically driven fellow Palestinians. It's simple - feed the children. It's the right thing to do.
2. To Karen in MD
Ivri   (05.18.06)
There is no mention of hunger in this article...so what is your point? This was a study about trauma, So get back to your suburban slumber and get educated about the issues on here before you type anymore garbage.
3. Karen, why...?
J ,   Canada   (05.18.06)
Why should Israel be responsible for feeding Palestinian children when the PA is spending its money on weapons instead of paying their employees (so they can feed their children)? To answer your question of if the children are going hungry because of Israeli actions (and solely Israeli actions, as implied by your question) -- no. Do Israeli actions contribute to the hunger problem? Possibly. But then again, the actions of western, consumer-driven countires contribute to the problem of global hunger, global warming, deforestation, shrinking of the ozone, etc. You should also consider that there is a formidable hunger problem within Israel itself, more so with the elderly than with children. Why should Israel be held responsible for others more than her own citizens?
4. Karen; Are you really as naive and stupid as you sound?
Daisy ,   USA   (05.18.06)
First of all these children are just Arab not "Palestinians." If they are going hungry it's because of their leaders not because of Israel. Their terrorists leaders would rather buy bombs and guns than feed these children. Arab children are taught hate and violence beginning from the day of their birth. Nothing Israel does can change this.
5. #1, how can they do it to themselves? -not Israel
Andrew Engel ,   Denver   (05.18.06)
Golda Meir once said: "Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us." The Arab world has had many opportunities to solve this conflict and the plight of the Palestinians. Instead, they focus on war and destroying Israel. Instead of spending money on bombs and trying to deligitimize Israel, the Pals could of had a state a long time ago. And now their government spends more energy against Israel and beefing up their armed forces than it does their own people. Jewish values are not directly responsible for this.
6. Terror-related trauma: Palestinian kids suffer more
Clarence Mance ,   Adelaide, Australia   (05.18.06)
To #1 Yes you are probably right. Empty Israeli supermarkets and give food out to the residents of Gaza. Maybe it is in consonace with Jewish values to arm them.Israelis should provide weaponry for their self defence. In Gaza everyone over 18 should be provided with a gun.You are right. Netra Karta would back you up.Maybe even some of your Satmar rabbis??? Maybe the Israeli parents are more loving than the Palestinian martyr parents ergo less PTSD. You Jews are a funny people. Do you not know with whom you are dealing? Clarence
7. Every day, Palestinian and Israeli children suffer
Ellen Prescott ,   Southsea, Hampshire   (05.18.06)
Whether it is being violently awoken during the middle of the night, with bombarding Israeli troops telling them that their home will be bulldozed. Or having a father or brother being blown up by a precision Israeli missile. Or witnessing a schoolmate being shot by an Israeli soldier. Or watching a Palestinian suicide bombing or quassam rocket attack. When will people in Israel and Palestine realise that this trivial squabble over land is leaving scars in your children that will forever be a painful wound. It is your duty to first and foremost protect your children from harm. Grow up already!

I think it'd be great to feed these children and create a nice society for them, but it's not that simple. These people will fight tooth and nail in any attempt to change their ways of life or ideas. You see it in that they won't say that they will give up on ideas of destruction of Israel in order to get money to feed their people. If the structure isn't changed and just give money, that doesn't work either. It's kind of like a trickle down effect, where children at the bottom. The most corrupt are going to take their share, then some for the war effort and for Islamic education, then some for familys of martyrs, etc. So by the time it reaches the children there's not much left. Also in doing so it might create a situation in which the poor gets poorer and other innocents are endangered, which defeats the whole purpose. So no easy answers.
9. Probably a phony study
sk ,   USA   (05.18.06)
According to the al-Krenawi, a "Palestinian" (I'm sorry, "Israeli Arab"): "People live in settlements because of ideology. The mental damage and the effect violence has on them are less significant then with secular children. The increase in the exposure of Israeli kids to political difficulties brought to a rise in the distress levels of youngsters that are less ideologist, but not in the case of those who have a strong ideological belief," al-Krenawi explained." This is a transparent after-the-fact effort to explain away unexpected findings. True, children of settlments are ideological. Yet 'Palestinian" children are thoroughly ideological: they are trained in anti-Semitic ideology apparently from birth. This ideology is more fully implemented in Gaza than in Judea and Samaria because terrorists have had greater leeway there. Apparently, the content of ideologies associated with the settler movement are psychologically protective.

Karen, could you please provide citations from the Tanach in support of your claims? Specifically, find evidence that Jews are supposed to feed the children of the deadly enemies who happen to be squatting on Jewish land. Good luck.
11. of course!!!
eli ,   s. monica ca.   (05.18.06)
less israeli children suffer from trauma because there are more that are killed in terrorist attacks, as opposed to arab kids which are seldom even involved- besides for the fact that there aint that many terrorist attacks form israel... the last time i checked.
12. To #1 Israel wants all Pals dead
Muhammad-Ali ,   Montreal   (05.18.06)
and Israeli public will not care if 1,000 Pal children died of starvation.
13. Study: Palestinians Complain More, Blame Jews
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.18.06)
In a study of 1,000 media articles published by Western media, and 1,000 media articles published by Arab media, Palestinians are 100% more likely to complain and blame the Jews for their predicament than to stop committing terror attacks.
14. Little haredi kids went hungry
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.18.06)
So Israeli taxpayers could fund scheiss-dreck propaganda "studies" like this one.
15. Palis Children Boo Whoo

They hurt our people and we are worried about them? Boo Whoo
16. #1 - Hungry Children
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (05.18.06)
It is a shame that children suffer. And as usual you blame Israel! The children are starving because of Hamas - NOTHING ELSE!!!! They were not starving three months ago. The "Palestinian" people have chose the path of war by electing a government that wants to wipe out Israel, and you want Israel to feed them? As for those children becoming enthusiastic jihadists - do you think that can be stopped? Take a look at http://www.pmw.org.il/
17. #1..its hamas fualt
jason ,   usa   (05.18.06)
hamas refused to accept israel and this is the punishment for this for not getting the aid they need and talking to israel for peace hamas says every jew is a target and also Iran hit is the right thing to do but hamas would rather send money for wepons then food its hamas JOB to help but all he did to get elected was to kill jews(and also the Iranian persident) why else the party was name Islamic ressistance movenment? Islamic terror movenment Hamas cannot be trusted beacuse he ask for peace before but guess what? a Teen was caught having a bomb
18. No Karen, those children are hungry because of their parents
AK   (05.18.06)
and their actions. Israelis have a responsibility to defend their own children and not the children of the enemy who murder their citizens. The right thing for you to do is to condemn Arab and Islamic terrorism and support Israel's Jewish victims. Daniel Wurtz, an American child was murdered by Arab terrorists in Tel Aviv. He was among the 11 murdered and scores maimed. He fought valiantly for his young life, after loosing his kidney, spleen, leg, having his aorta ripped, his body mangled. He finally succumbed this last weekend. Where is your outrage, Karen, over this atrocity?

Parents of those children and their terrorist actions against the Israelis are the sole reason for those children problems. Israelis have a responsibility to defend their own children and not the children of the enemy who murder their citizens. So... we need to feed them, we need to give them electricity, we need to give them money, we need to give them technology, we need to give them medicine, we need to give them CULTURE and we need to get in return: Our kids blowing up, them using the money for terror as you can see in today's articles, them using the technologies and infrastructure we give them to terrorize us, them hiding in civilian areas to .. uhm.. "protect their children". You know what's immoral? giving them anything until they start respecting whoever helps them. It's easy to call us immoral from the distance, how about visit Israel, telaviv, and when you and your family go to the market to buy some vegtables you will get blown up to heavens (or anyone of your family), I would like to see you giving money to this kind of people. Also, for your information, they were offered to get money if they will recognize Israel, THATS ALL WE ASKED, recognizing us... R-E-C-O-G-N-I-Z-I-N-G, we need to ask them to recognize us after all we've done for them?? Not only we shouldn't give them money, we shouldn't give them water or electricity too, maybe then they will start respecting us. We also offered to give them food, real food, not money for food, FOOD. And guess what they said? we will rather eat salt.......... SO EAT SALT AND SHUT THE HELL UP You want salt, eat it, don't cry about it later.
21. That's just too bad
(05.18.06)
War isn't a pretty thing. They'll just have to get used to it.
22. General and to #1
JEW FOR THRUTH ,   JERUSALEM, ISRAEL   (05.18.06)
1) Israel does feed Palestinians..even when they are trying to slaughter us. That is actually immoral. Could you imagine the US feeding the TALIBAN or Iraqi teorrists while they continue to wage war, cut off heads? or even though they are aware of a plot for another large terror attack in US? 2) Israel has no moral need to protect people that are trying to murder. "If you are kind to the cruel, then you shall end up being cruel to the kind" Please. These people bring it on themsleves. This is a propagandist article because it doesn't mention ALL the violence shown to children on Arab television, textbooks, preached to them in their child terrorist camps..nor does it take into account that most of the violence in the "war zone" is inter-arab! Even some of the minimal retaliation by Israel is quite justified-not enough. If it were, then the violence on their side should stop. How long should ISrael allow and accept murder and violence from the Arab Occupier of Jewish Land. They could live in Peace like in the past during more peaceful times. They certainly live or lived at a higher standard of living and freedome than Arabs not occuppying Jewish Land such as the Arab states(Yeah for the transplanted European nationalism).
23. German Kids Suffered More Than American Kids In WWII Too
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (05.18.06)
The Philistines chose war. They lost. They suffer. And they also indoctrinate their kids to "martyr" themselves along the way. They have no one to blame except themselves.
24. #12..you think hamas would care about israel?
jason ,   usa   (05.18.06)
nope. he would simply kill them all

we (pals) will forgive israelis for killing our sons but I will NEVER forgive you for making us kill your sons.
27. Question
Ota, lover of Israel ,   Pilsen, Czech Rep.   (05.18.06)
Question is the ratio of boys/girls. Palestinians deliberately expose their male children to vilence. And similar abuse of young girls in only a matter of time - when it is OK for woman to become a martyr. According to me this study is of no worth if it does not reflect the state of Palestinian political culture. These things are closely related. Probably we all have seen photos of fighting terrorists/freedom fighters with crowds of kids around. I am sorry for those children, but if they are not precious enough for their own, what can we do? Blame Israel? See this: An Engineered Tragedy Statistical Analysis of Casualties in the Palestinian - Israeli Conflict, September 2000 - September 2002 by Don Radlauer http://www.ict.org.il/articles/articledet.cfm?articleid=439
28. hungry Palestinian kids
Birdi ,   ISRAEL   (05.18.06)
The children of war & terror always suffer.....kids do not ask to be born. Palestinian parents could feed their children if & when they stand up & say NO to terror & violence. Trauma cannot be put on a scale; Both sides have suffered & are still suffering. Its time for peace in our region;Enough hatred & bloodshed. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE...."Please."
