The BIGGEST problem today IS the "West". Thanks to business interests or not, USA's unconditional support to Israel is paramount and a balance must be maintained. Without the Arab nations congregating their concerns, poorer and isolated nations such as Palestine will soon be "wiped off the map". Kudos for the Italian Foreign minister for voicing his point of view despite much anticipated backlash from the West, the unfavourable outcome.

john, I am always amazed at Europeans lecturing others on good government when they continue to exemplify catastrophically bad government. This, after all, was the birth place of "modern" totalitarianism, in both fascist and national socialist varieties. Even worse, the whole continent completely misunderstands the lessons of WW2. As for "racism," I should point out that Europe has whole cities mostly full of Muslims, as well as enclaves of Muslims seemingly everywhere. The difference between the US and Europe is that in the US people can get ahead and get out of their slums. And, when the slums are seemingly permanent (as in New Orleans), there is always some party machine (e.g. the Democratic Party with respect to blacks) that facilitates such permanence.
