1. USA: Ishar Koach!!!!
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (05.23.06)
2. irrelevent
Fares ,   cleveland   (05.23.06)
the role of the outside influence is the ME conflict is fading away when the palestinians stopped complaining and applied the eye for an eye law of the land . it is a sad day for israel the way the american congress voted today . an average congressman do not understand the ME politics . the land scape is different and American policy should be inclusive not exclusive . bad vote for israel . bad vote for america (percieved now as anti-palestinian). for the palestinians : nothing changed ..America for us is very irrelevent .
3. The administration believes the legislation goes too far.
Riv ,   Jerusalem   (05.23.06)
Shameful!! I quote: "We believe that this legislation will damage America's interests and Israel's as well by undermining the US Ability to advance peace and democracy in the region," the Israel Policy Forum said in a statement. " Bullsh*t! What they mean is that when it comes to the unending attempt to legitimize the Palestinians who vow to wipe out Israel there is no end to where their bankrupt maneuvers will take them.'' Thank you AIPAC and the US House! As for the Israel Policy Forum who have come out against it, well I guess they know if you were for it the SCREWS would be tightened even more. Smart yet darn stupid. (on both sides of that coin) How high can they make you jump, hah?? To the Conference of Catholic Bishops, I would not expect anything else. You like the rest including the present administration, go continue feeding that hand that bites you..... (one of these days watch out because you are fast running out of fingers for the rabid dogs to bite)
4. AIPAC Paycheck
Dave ,   DC   (05.23.06)
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen just got the paycheck from the AIPAC, and see how these people control the american administration, congradulation, you are strong by your money, lobbyist instituation, this is your time to enjoy being protected by US, remember everyone that this unjustice can't continue, you will pay price for that..later.
5. #2, not irrelevent at all
DR ,   Florida, USA   (05.23.06)
The US doesn't need to understand politics in the middle east. They just need to understand terror. Hamas will not recognize Israel, want to destroy Israel and have killed hundreds of israelis in the past. What else can we add to make people see that this is a terror organization??? Palestinians knew they were voting for a group that is internationally considered to be a terror group...now they have to face the music.
6. Civilized world reacting to quranic anarchy
Arie   (05.23.06)
7. Fares (#2)
sk ,   USA   (05.23.06)
Fares, America is not "irrelevant" for you because (unfortunately) you live here. Of course, the House did exactly the right thing, and as all funding bills must come from the House, this bill is not a trivial thing. For those who don't know this, 100% of the House is elected every two years, and the Republicans are running scared.
8. how does one make something "ambiguously clear"?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.23.06)
must be a typo, but then again, these days you can never tell.
9. The US FINALLY gets it right
Jenny ,   NYC   (05.23.06)
If Bush and his Arab booty kissing administration won't be tough on Jihadists then the House will do it for them. The only people Bush has on his side right now are ultra hawks. If he overturns this bill his approval raiting will be in the teens.
10. to mr. irrelevant
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.23.06)
living in cleveland, i guess you don't care what happens to your relatives in the west bank and gaza. but by cutting off funds to hamas, the united states is choosing not to support palestinian terrorism. and that's a good thing - good for israel, and also good for the palestinians now living under plo occupation. since over 90% of palestinians live in areas under plo control, they have been forced to sacrifice their livelihoods and sometimes even their lives, for an "intifada" that they neither need nor want. the best thing for people on both sides would be to eliminate the terrorists, reopen the borders, and let people get on with their lives, as they were before the plo occupation, and its maniacal fixation on the destruction of israel.
11. Americans love to see Palestinians suffer
Ellen Prescott ,   Southsea, Hampshire   (05.23.06)
The Palestinian people are starving to death. Most live off of less than 1 dollar a day. And the Americans are taking away even more - defying their international obligations. Israel steals their land, their water, even their identity. And they have the Americans as their abettors. How much longer can justice-seeking people/nations allow this to happen?
12. #4: Dave, even janitors in DC know more about politics.
sk ,   USA   (05.23.06)
I doubt you even live there. Or maybe, you are one of the numerous Muslim terrorists who actually live in DC, and your name is really "Muhammed." You do not spell like a native speaker of English.
13. Ellen Prscott
(05.23.06)
So your saying my tax dollars in the usa should go to finance the hamas terrorist organization which has the declared goal of destroying the state of israel. "International obligations!!!" As if the americans have an international obligation to help save people who refuse to move forward, only backward. What moron would send money to the palestinians with hamas in charge? Its almost as bad as sending arafat money. You should stick to subjects you know something about.
14. #11
Jane   (05.23.06)
Shut up, you Brit moron. They are not starving. This is more Palestinian bullshit to deflect attention from what is really going on - preparing for Intifada 3 and using every penny to do so. Again, they are not starving. It is not Darfur. You know Darfur, or don't you. It the country that REALLY has a problem.
15. #11
fishhook ,   houston , texas   (05.23.06)
You may not believe this, but the Jews were in the west bank and gaza 3000 yers prior to the palestenians. The only people there were the Hitites (from Persia) and they were nomads. How would you feel if Mexico was blowing up people and sending rockets into the U.S. They are also demanding that Isreal be desolved and not exist. I guess you would still be a pacifist and go hide under a rock
16. ellen simple simon prescott
(05.23.06)
does anyone know any palestinian websites that i can post on? ellen has now inspired me to give my two cents on palestinian web sites. i am now inspired to educate them on how misguided and lost they are. thanks ellen, for being the catalyst to help me educate simple minded people like yourself. anyone know the web sites of the palestinians where i can talk back?
17. To all Talkbackers except Ellen #11
Jewtopia   (05.23.06)
Do NOT respond to Ellen. She is on here just to annoy Jews. She probably doesn't care for Palestinians and her sole purpose on here is to waste a Jew's time. Do not fall for it. You are smarter than that and her.
18. #16 I think you will have trouble finding a Palestinian
Jenny ,   NYC   (05.23.06)
news website that allows a free exchange of thoughts and opinions. I don't think there is a "Free Speech" clause in Hamas's constitution. They didn't have any room left on the page after all that talk about getting those Jews hiding behind trees.
19. Riv makes no sense
Jacob ,   Seattle, WA   (05.23.06)
quote: "go continue feeding that hand that bites you..... " u twist an old cliche into some new and illogical meaning for your personal beliefs? you point fingers at everyone except yourself? Sanctions historically fail in their purpose. EVERYONE knows this. The only people that are hurt is the citizens. I dont see any less Hamas members in the streets do u? In fact I now see more and tension is at an all time high. Even Bush knows this is a dumb move and his is clueless 99% of the time! Tom DeLay is our most corrupt politician. He flew to his trial in a Philip Morris jet. He just doesnt get it! Anyone who follows his advice is a sheep not a leader.
20. sk is paranoid
Jacob ,   Seattle, WA   (05.23.06)
wow your ignorance is almost as scary as the 'terrorists'
22. Dont mind him Ellen
Jacob ,   Seattle, WA   (05.23.06)
He's just another spoiled American who thinks we run the world. You will encounter millions like him here in the U.S.A.. Thats why we elected terrorists as our leaders also. And ours have killed way way more than any of the ones in the mideast. Ok they send out young men to do the killing for them but thats just another parallel. They point fingers yet refuse to look at themselves. Its comparable to someone from lets say Iran thinking everyone in the US has no morals, drives hummers, and dresses like a cheap whore because they get the WB channel. Its a close minded uneducated opinion and nothing more.
23. Andy can't even spell his rips correctly
paranoidandroid ,   USA   (05.23.06)
go home
24. its master's voice
Jeremiah ,   USA   (05.23.06)
The House does what the House always does: heed its master's voice. AIPAC speaks and the House obeys. You never have to worry about a resolution condemning Israel for its illegal west bank settlements, or its flaunting of U.S. restrictions on aid. So much for the U.S. national interest.
25. palestinian talkback forums
(05.23.06)
That is a good question, where are the palestinian talkback forum websites? Where do i go to talkback to them. Do arabs allow the freedom to express other views? does anyone know a palestinian website?
26. To all ignorant small-minded people out there
Aboud Hamayel ,   Palestine   (05.23.06)
I have several notes and responses to the different talkbacks set, in my first response I would like to inform you all that the Palestinians are not ignorant, and not Stupid, they are the most educated population through the Arab world, they have one of the best universities also in the Arab world, and the middle east, unfortunately with scarce and limited resources. I was really amazed by some of the responses coming from New York (nice city by the way) and other cities, well I live in Rammallah under what you call the “Hamas” regime, and let me tell you this, people curse, shout, go out on demonstrations against Hamas. On the other hand people shout, curse, and go out on demonstrations against Fattah. We had one of the most transparent elections not only in the middle-east but in the whole World, so for me we live in a better democracy then you. As for websites you want to post out discussion, go to:- http://www.shiachat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5345 Yes, Palestinians are democratic, more than the US at least. In my Opinion Palestinians are not clueless or dumb, although they have elected Hamas which im not really fond off but there choice was based mostly on one issue, which is the corruption of the past Fattah leadership, and I know this because I live among those Palestinian people, and not in DC or NY or London etc….. I live in Rammallah and I know how people think, and how they were truly bored of some of the past leaders who were sucking the blood from there people. By Passing this new Law, American not only are supporting the Israeli organized terror, not only they are supporting the building of the New Berlin Wall or the “Apartheid Wall”, not only there supporting the death of Palestinian people and children everyday through starvation, but they are also inflicting direct death to women living in this land. Imagine not being paid for three months, imagine not having any other resource of money for three months, people are spending on there savings, and the majority have already spent it, go see Gaza, come and see poverty in Jenin, and Tul-karem, go see Qalaliah and the other cities, its not only Darfour, at least the World Community is doing something about it, but in this case, the world community Is passing and supporting starvation in this occupied Palestinian land. 60% are living under the poverty line, and each day passes by this number is growing. P.S Special thanks Ellen Prescott its nice to see a human voice still standing in this World. Free Palestine
27. a bad vote for America
Fares ,   Cleveland   (05.23.06)
it is an Election year and as i said Most of our congressmen and women do not know the real story . i agree with one of the comments that we should fights terrorists on both sides . and for that idiot who is questioning my Americanism ..even Bush was against the bill . the lobby driven ,opportunistic congress acted today against America's Image in the world for the sake of few cheap votes in november .... let us fight terror on both side as Americans and act as an honest broker to bring this to an end ...today 's vote was not in that direction . this is what i wanted to say .
28. 'Jewtopia' (#17) is a racist half-wit
Ellen Prescott ,   Southsea, Hampshire   (05.23.06)
Just so you'd know, my Jewish friends think that I am too 'pro-Israel,' because I think suicide bombings are immoral and that Israel has a right to exist. And you speak as if a Jew's time is more valuable than anyone else's. Go put your head back in the sand, ethnocentric numbskull.
29. #20 (Jacob): best friend of the Snaggletooth from Southsea
sk ,   USA   (05.23.06)
Before I ignore you completely (or insult you without bothering to read you), I will give you a chance to clarify your "point" about my "paranoia" and "ignorance." On second thought, don't bother. Anyone who puts quotation marks around the word "terrorist" has already established both his lowish IQ and his malevolence.
30. Proud to be an American!
Daisy ,   USA   (05.23.06)
It shows that Americans are on the side of good.
