1. Why mimic the emptiness of Tel Aviv?
Ariel ,   Judean Hills   (05.25.06)
How pathetic to bash the holy city in honor of Jerusalem Day. Not a word about spirituality, of history, of legend. Just bemoaning that the city isn't hollow, empty and hedonistic. Once Tel Aviv was a place where the mayor had public readings of Tanakh and people were proud to be Jewish. I'd take JM any day over TA.
2. Those wonderful, productive, working seculars
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.25.06)
The little wannabees scurrying from audition to audition, looking for their big break in show business. There is no class on earth more worthless and parasitic than the "arts and theatre" crowd. The millions they suck from the public treasury for their narcissitic little self-absorbed propaganda displays put the families with 10 children to shame. Then when the "big break" comes, off they scamper to Hollywood!
3. Southpark, CO, as a cultural reference!
shai ,   T-A   (05.25.06)
I am impressed : a wind of cultural enlightenment is flowing from where? Southpark, Colorado! There, they know how to talk culture... with a gun, I guess.
4. What is this garbage!? on Jerusalem Day?!weres positive stuf
Eli ,   Ramat Gan   (05.25.06)
5. Southpark, CO, as a cultural ICON
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.25.06)
Eat your heart out, silly Shai Telavivi, Southpark is a worldwide icon of pop culture.
6. Southpark
David ,   Yerushalayim   (05.25.06)
Right Kyle of Southpark. Someone who goes by the name of a potty-mouthed TV cartoon character isn't secular himself. What planet are you on? Just because you've probably hooked up with the local Lubies doen't mean you're not secular. Your whole outlook is secular.
7. #6 Hooked up with the local Lubies
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.25.06)
Hooked up in a major way--they're like, my parents, dude!
8. Some brief observations
sk ,   USA   (05.25.06)
Some brief observations Why does Tel Aviv look appealing to so many despite the fact that Shai lives there? (1) There are almost no Arabs there. In an article devoted to analyzing outflows of people, Neta Sela doesn't make this obvious point. (2) Jerusalem had Merlot as a mayor, and no place recovers from that too quickly. (3) Jerusalem has way too many ultra-Orthodox. But think about it: who else will leave near so many Arabs? You need religious zeal for that. Yet such zeal means that energy goes into Torah and not into Broadway shows. (4) The obvious first step, then, is to expel the Arabs from Jerusalem.
9. moving to TA
Hilda ,   USA   (05.25.06)
50 years ago I can testify that TA was a beautiful city and a great place to live and now these secularists are going to spoil it and turn it into Sodom and Gomorroa
10. WHY NOT BUILD ON JERUSALEM'S STRENGTHS???
SPIRITUAL CAPITAL OF ,   THE WORLD   (05.25.06)
11. Good riddance, don't let the door hit you on your way out.
Jeremiah ,   Israel   (05.26.06)
12. The return of
yakov shani ,   IL   (05.26.06)
Barnum and Bailey, clowns all over the place, If I lived there I would also leave. I love Jerusalem just as much as anybody else, a difficult city to live in and getting worse by the day. Kyle, you can lay into me if you want. I am still waiting for an apology from last week. Remember Yiddish ?
13. Kyle & Yakov: I thought you made up already.
sk ,   USA   (05.26.06)
There are golems, French zombies, English snaggletooths, and a particularly underwhelming grape to combat! Don't make me come out there and box your ears.
14.  # 13 sk
yakov shani ,   IL.   (05.26.06)
I apologized for the fact that Kyle got upset, altthough this was because he misread my English, not because my English was bad. I made no mistake and apologized, I always thought that Lubies were the best of the bunch, decency etc, still waiting for a show of that decency. He made a mistake and attacked me unreservedly, no apology, only silence. thank you, sk.
15. shani
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.26.06)
