"Yes, the murder of 1.5 million Christian Polish citizens was horrible--but how many Polish CHRISTIANS were left alive in Poland, compared to the number of Jews left after 3 million were murdered?"
Michael, you've made a good point.
At Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Pope Benedict addressed the crowd of 900,000 Polish citizens with the question: "Where was God in those days? Why was He silent?"
A more appropriate question would have been: "Where was THE VATICAN in those days? Why was POPE PIUS XII silent?"
Anti Semitism was rampant in the Vatican. Evidence in the Vatican's secret archives convincingly demonstrates how the demonization of Jews by the Catholic Church (particularly severe in the 19th & 20th centuries), laid the groundwork for the Holocaust in Europe.
(Perhaps a "disclaimer" declaring those incriminating Vatican secret archives to be "works of fiction" would save-face, wipe the slate clean, and miraculously whisk their SHAMEFUL SINS away?)
Hitler's Nazi regime secured the Vatican's Papal power, property and wealth. In return, the Catholic Church taught obedience to Hitler.
Albert Einstein said: "The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the evil people, but because of the good people who won't do anything about it."
What must a religion of love and goodness do to confront its history of hatred and harm? Would not The Pope's ADMISSION OF, and APOLOGY FOR, the Vatican's role in those atrocities have made his sincere, sympathetic speech seem less superficial?
You can't change what you WON'T acknowledge!
We must learn to love, protect, and respect each other, no matter what our differences! We must NOT allow our religious convictions to cloud our common sense.
Stay safe, healthy and happy,
Love, Loretta
