1. Olmert can plan all he wants, but......
Avraham ,   Netivot   (06.01.06)
Olmert can do all the planning he wants, but he should look & see what happened to Sharon after he ruined so many lives. Contrary to what all you lefties think, G-D will have the final say.
2. One Question for the Prime Minster
Michael   (06.01.06)
PM olmert's arrogance ha no limits. one Question Prime Minister. why would any one negotiate with you, when you already said you'll give it to them for nothing. Mr. Prime Minister did you use the same logic when forming a coalition? Did you use the same negotiating "logic" in your business dealings?! I think any normal person would be able to answer no. If you want to change the Reality after 4 years. Then break the ogligpoly in this country. Market Israel an outsourcing Country. By highlighting the highly educated olim fro m U.K. and U.S. and other western countries. Expand the economy and develop busines ties so more american jews will come. Didn't PM Sharon want a Million olim? why don't you focus on building the country as oppose to Destroying it. If you develop israel as an outsourcing country more jews will come and more land will be needed. Then after 4 years you could honestly, say you changed israel for the better. To change reality for the sake of change does nothing at best and very harmful at worse. Neville Chamberlin changed realities too. Do you want to be remembered as a Neville Chamberlin or as a Ben-Gurion?
3. Something must be done to stop

this stupid stubborn creature to follow his stupid mind!
4. Apartheid against Jews
link inside this ,   message   (06.01.06)
Maariv exposure: The state of Israel ordered the civil administration in Judea and Samaria to favor Arabs and to discriminate against Jews in any case of conflict between the two. This is an official Apartheid policy against Jews. You can read about it here: http://www.nrg.co.il/online/1/ART1/430/096.html
5. To Avraham #1
Shalom   (06.01.06)
If pulling out of 42% of the West Bank created all this grudge, wait till we divide Jerusalem into two capitals.. I belive a Two State Solution is the answer to all this sufferring, not a unilateral step that is doomed to create a third Intifada..
6. Avraham
David ,   London   (06.01.06)
How can you be so sure G d punished Sharon for disengagement and not a myriad of other things like sabra and shatila which you had no problem with. Maybe this was His way of allowing Arik to atone for his past. I think God is called down on both sides of too many arguments by people presuming to know how He acts and thinks.
7. to #5 suffering
Yariv ,   Tel Aviv   (06.01.06)
You talking jokes. Suffering? In some parts of Tel Aviv they fill nothing. They never go outside Tel Aviv. The real suffering will come not when first katushas land in Ramat-Aviv but when daily and nightly rocket bombardment of Tel Aviv will stark. You will be be looking for Olmert on Virgin Island with his billioner friend and his familly.
8. "A contiguous Palestinian-governed territory"
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (06.01.06)
What does Olmert mean when he says he wants to create this? Let's look at it practically - the simple facts of geography make it impossible for there to be a contiguous Palestinian state including the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. So is the intention to give the Palestinians part of Israel and thus split up Israel into two separate territories?
9. Peace is Like Love
Thameen Darby ,   Jerusalem, Palestine   (06.01.06)
Peace is like love, or making love. It is mutual. It needs two willing partners. If it is forced by one partner, it becomes rape. Using a condom called a "wall" does not make it legitimate, not to say enjoyable. :)
10. we will see

11. Just to repeat something:
keren ,   sao paulo   (06.01.06)
How can the WORST Mayor Jerusalem has ever had,the one that turned Jerusalem into a dirty city when he was in charge of it,how can this creature do something good for Israel and its People? Am I wrong? He is probably around his 60 to 70th years old.Do somebody think that if in his WHOLE life he didn't do ANYTHING GOOD,will he do by now? This creature didn't serve in army(just wrote some articles, right?);sent his two sons to live far from Israel -because he thinks is better,right?-;these sons didn't serve in the army too ;suspitions of corruption hovers over him;his wife and his all family care more for arabs than for Jews..So...Isn't it clear who are we talking about? And the exemples I am giving are just the few ones that I know, but I guess you Israelis have much ,much more bad things to say about him. Am I wrong? And now a personal feeling:I can not even feel this creature as Jew;really,I can not feel him as a brother.
12. Determined to Ignore US Military Experts FRIGHTENING WARNING
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.01.06)
...and the many warnings from Israeli military analysts. Muslims everywhere openly declare their goal is Israel and the entire world subjugated under Islamic rulers, ruled by sharia law. Shortly after the 1967 Six Day War, the American Joint Chiefs of Staff submitted their report requested by the U.S. government. Their report stated that Israel can only be DEFENSIBLE if it retains Judea, Samaria, Gaza and the Golan.
13. When you have a bad idea, run with it
Yoel Ariel ,   US   (06.01.06)
Hmmmmmmm? One fell swoop. One clean cut from his trusty sword. Cleve the child in twain. THAT does not sound so bad. NOT so hard to acomplish. JUST 60 or 80 thousand Jews from JUDEA. Crap.Easy. No big thing. Well the Romans did it did they not? And what about the Babylonians? Done forget them. I am sure there will be plenty of the meretz cum Shalom Achshav and Savion Sayeret to volunteer. And these unlucky Jews will go without a major fight of course. And if the KadimCrat-Limousine Laborites accomplish this greatest expulsion of Jews since the Third Reich the Jews will be housed, or "concentrated" (pardon the expression) where????? Should not harm the social fabric of Israel much. Should'nt cost much either. Petty cash. No blood spilled I am sure. No lives wrecked(on BOTH sides of the issue). I understand Manzanar is nice this time of year. Sharon is brain dead. So too is Olmert.
14. Olmert
Connie ,   USA   (06.01.06)
After reading this it was like I was reading a letter fromsomeone who was giving their last thoughts before they committed suicide. I feel like he is killing us and the state of Israel along with him. Where will this take us?
15. "nothing will stop me"
Ralph ,   Haifa   (06.01.06)
Pride comes before the fall and a haughty spirit before destruction. Hopefully intervention will come from an unexpected place so that the fall and destruction will be only to Olmert's and his cliques loss and not the whole country's.
16. Olmrtic
Josh ,   Jerusalem   (06.01.06)
They guy is a real nutcake. Remember that Sharon Sr (the dead one) said that CIA and Bush changed his mind when he became PM. Here is what the CIA chief says: CIA Head James Woolsey The approach Israel is preparing to take in the West Bank was tried in Gaza and has failed utterly. ... http://www.gamla.org.il/english/index.htm
17. Making JEWS DEFENSELESS. DESTROYING Israel's SECURITY
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.01.06)
Palestinian Authority Muslims, PA/PLO, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda, et al, are united in their murderous goal of a second holocaust of Jews. Israeli leaders take the greatest care of PA Muslims. The IDF fire on empty fields so as not to risk injuring a single PA civilian. PA Muslims voted for the Hamas Charter platform calling for the murder of all Jews. Hamas Charter: "Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims. Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it. There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad..." Israeli leaders response to the Islamist goal of Jewish genocide was to give special training to Israeli police to perpetrate a brutal assault on the intensely hated Jewish children in Amona. Peaceful Jewish protesters were severly beaten - many sustaining serious, multiple head injuries; other victims - broken jaws, ribs and limbs. Israel's police and IDF will go to war, Amona style, against the hated Jews of Judea and Samaria in a ruthless ethnic Jew cleansing on behalf of PA/PLO, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda terrorists, who will be gifted 95% of the militarily strategic high ground of Judea and Samaria, significantly advancing global jihad and enabling the openly stated Islamist goal of Jewish annihilation. Amona - February 1, 2006 - Israel's leaders preferred making war on Jewish innocents rather than on barbaric Islamic terrorists. http://www.IsraelNationalNews.com/Must-Watch http://www.israelreporter.com/

19. only a revolution
patriot   (06.01.06)
will save us all from this loser and his tactics.... only a revolution will save israel from the palestinazim, and the iranians mullahs ,and their aspirations to eliminate the jewish people. only a revolution will make a real change in this country ,and put a logical , determind, steadfast, person in charge. this clown makes me cry everytime isee his circus act. hit the road ,olmert ,and don't you come back!!!
20. "Nothing will stop me!"
Joe ,   Israel   (06.01.06)
Mr. Olmert, with his arrogance is tempting his mortality. Instead of trying to wear his predecessor 's cloak, he might well consider how little man can control his fate. The ancient Greeks considered that hubris-arrogant pride or presumption- leads a man to his own destruction.
21. re: Linda
Yael ,   Tel Aviv   (06.01.06)
Really Linda. Hmmm, I guess you are right --it is only an illusion that we won the 5 wars --including the war in which we gained more than the '67 borders. Right, we couldn't defend ourselves when our borders were all the way back to those of '48. Please, let's tone down the hyperbole a little bit here folks.
22. #9 good analogy but with a problem
Yael ,   Tel Aviv   (06.01.06)
Thameen, what you say is true in many respects. The difficulty is that the other partner isn't giving a whole lot of love nor peace either. If we use your rape analogy, Israelis look at the wall (including myself) as a means to keep the rapists (suicide bombers) out. A woman tends to be a whole lot safer from rape when at home behind a locked door than when out in the open. There was no wall until the suicide bombings became a near-daily occurrance. People wouldn't continue to support the wall if it had proved to be ineffective against preventing such attacks --but it has proved effectiive in dramatically reducing the attacks. We need to get some mutuality going, we need to get some calm going, we need to build a record that demonstrates trustworthiness (in terms of the calm, in terms of intentions) before we can get one step further --I'm talking about this happening on both sides. Now, we have a cycle of violence. But when rockets fly across our borders daily we are unlikely to sit back and do nothing. When terrorists do get past the barriers and blow up civilians, there will be a response by the israeli side --unless, and this hasn't happened yet --unless there is a visible and demonstrated effort by those in charge on the palestinian side to curb, to prosecute, and to thwart such attacks. Simply saying "I condemn them" doesn't cut it if it isn't back up by also trying to stop them. Right now, we've got a situation where those in charge (Hamas) not only don't say that they condemn them, they say that they commend them and that they will continue to encourage them. When Hamas got elected even people who were on the fence about the protection barrier or even actively opposed to it suddenly said, uhhhh could we build it a little higher please? Not really an unexpected reaction to a group gaining power whose charter vows to wipe us out...
23. Major realignment
yakov shani ,   IL   (06.01.06)
should take place in the corridors of power in Jerusalem, if not then there should be public outcry until a change is made, a very radical change.

Tell me where you are talking from, and after reading some more comments of yours and knowing where you are, I might start hurling on you my comments too, seated here in my home office in Brasil. Let's me just first analize which kind of comments you deserve ...
25. #21 ISRAEL Use their Prison for HAMAS RALLY FOR JIHAD
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.01.06)
Israel's leaders continue to demonstrate their sympathies are not with Jewish victims. Their sympathies are with Islamic terrorist killers. Israel gave the use of an Israeli prison to promote jihad against Israel's Jewish innocents. For some unknown and terrible reason, Israel's leaders continue to give every indication that they want Israel's barbaric enemies to win. www.jerusalempost.com May. 18, 2006 14:19 | Updated May. 20, 2006 16:20 Another Tack: Lifers here and there By SARAH HONIG ...Israeli prisons are indeed unique. Not only do the most dangerous terrorists therein get hold of phones, but recently Hamas overtly conducted a mass rally in a southern Israeli maximum-security penitentiary, where scores of convicts congregated in the courtyard, which they festooned with Hamas Islamic-green banners and Palestinian flags. A stage and speakers' rostrum were erected. The backdrop decor was a giant collage, displaying the Hamas emblem, portraits of Hamas leaders, slogans calling for Jihad against Israel and pictures of RPGs underscored by the motto "we'll continue." White plastic chairs were neatly arranged for the "audience," who cheered the invective hurled at the Zionist state and freely photographed the occasion - all under the disinterested eyes of passive Israeli wardens. The snapshots are available for viewing on the Web. Terrorist lifers in Israel don't expect to end their existence in captivity...
26. Olmert should not be pressured on this
Brod ,   USA   (06.01.06)
Olmert should not be distracted or pressured on this issue at this time. Meanwhile, the Arab Islamist-States like Egypt and Jordan are doing all their best to occupy and distract Olmert and his government on this issue as they do not want Israel to focus on the more important issue of defending herself against the existential threat from Iran. These Arab Islamist-Jihadist States want Iran to have ample time to complete their nukes so that Iran can implement their shared evil goal of annihilating Israel. This evil goal is also the dream of the surrounding Arab Islamist-Jihadist States and the Islamist world. Israel must never fall into the trap of the evil doers. Israel should not fall for the deception on the crap peace talk. This crap peace talk is just a distraction and a time-delaying tactic designed by Israel's enemies to divert Israel' s attention on Iran so as to enable Iran to have ample time to complete their nukes. The idea of realignment or convergence can only be accomplished if the other side wants peace. As for now, the other side shares a common goal with Iran of wiping off Israel--which they proudly state in their Charter. And they are just waiting for Iran to complete their nukes so that they can achieve their common evil goal. Hence, there is no point wasting resources, time and energy chasing after an unrealistic peace talk that only exists in the realm of fantasy and illusion at the present time. Israel's primary focus should be to defend her security and existence in view of the existential threat from Iran that is feverishly working on their nukes. This should be the main focus of all Israelis. Confronting the existential threat , from Iran and her proxies-Syria, Hamas/Islamist-Jihadist and Hezbollah, MUST be the SOLE focus of the government and people of Israel at the present time. All other issues and matters are totally unrealistic and irrelevant to be given any primacy.

28. The Olmert progrom, part 1/2
Steve ,   USA   (06.01.06)
B"H In my response #41, http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3257457,00.html I show that the charges pressed against the Yitzhar settlers in the press. However, the police chief let the Freudian slip "progrom" out. It is typical in a situaiton of oppression to characterize one's enemies with one's own evil. In that manner, one can always claim that one was not speaking evil about ones superiors and doing a good job. However, in this case the true nature of the pullout is set forth: "progrom". Perez has convinced his public that a "progrom" is necessary and has joined forces in the goverment to achieve his aims, covering it over with this "reallignment" talk in press releases. Olmert, by keeping Peretz in the government is facilitating a progrom as previous goverments did, not participating directly, but setting an environment of legitimacy for attacks against a Jewish population and its property. The definition follows later in this response, and it seems applicable given that Jewish property has already been swindled and there is an inadequate budget to take care of the next round, given the current round was only 10% of what the next round proposes, a drop in the bucket. Quote 1 shows that a timetable has been set. These "small" provocations such as Yitzhar are meant to build momentum on that timetable. I guess that it is slated to start at the beginning of 2007 and is being planned now. Quote 2 shows a great step in positioning but a complete misunderstanding of the problem. With the precident of Sharon, the PM sets foreign and army policy, so democracy is set aside once the PM is elected. He will do what is necessary to force this on the Kenesset vote like with the disengagement progrom. It is all about power and politics in Israel and how to devastate political opponents materially and financially. I see it as a complete travesty of justice, the "Olmert progrom". "(Russian: “devastation,” or “riot”), a mob attack, either approved or condoned by authorities, against the persons and property of a religious, racial, or national minority. The term is usually applied to attacks on Jews in the Russian Empire in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The first extensive pogroms followed the assassination of Tsar Alexander II in 1881. Although the assassin… pogrom... (75 of 316 words)" SOURCE: http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-9060528?query=pogrom&ct=
29. Thanks, avramele!
Shai ,   T-A   (06.01.06)
A hint of intelligence and common sense in the middle of the usual outburst of chest-banging. They scream but they are unable to propose a credible solution. I do think that our country - and not the war mongerers from geneva or the US - will understand that we have to withdraw from most of the territories for the sake of our jewish and democratic state.
30. OLmert Craves Civil War Between 'Israelis & Nationalist Jews
Adina kutnicki ,   US   (06.01.06)
Olmert is hell bent on civil war, regardless of how many Jewish lives he destroys in the process. He has no problem with handing over the Jewish heartland to the genocidal Hamas. No matter. The brave people of Israel (aside from the assorted hard left and the Arabs) will not allow this to take place. At the end of the day if the IDF realizes that civil war will result from Olmert's orders, they too will not carry out these immoral and illegal orders.
