The AUT learned first hand how potentially damaging this boycott could be. It was overturned following an incredible grass roots effort by those who truly oppose racism and injustice. It must would be nice just once to hear some discussion about Israel without its supporters screaming 'anti-semitism' at every given opportunity. What nonsense. You have simply swallowed the press release from Bar-Ilan unquestioningly. If AUT had cancelled the merger, the NATFHE boycott would still be in force! When the merger took place on 1st June, ALL previous policy of both NATFHE and AUT lapsed and became merely "advisory" to the new union, UCU. As a matter of fact, AUT policy was not anti-boycott in any case, regardless of the spin that some tried to put on it: it merely laid down a procedure to be followed before an institution outside the UK could be boycotted.
