our prisons are pathetic. it's more of a reward to be in prison in Sweden. this article describes the maximum security prisons. most prisons have no fences around them only a line that you're not allowed to cross, the cells cannot be locked from the outside by the guards, only the inmate can lock and unlock the door from the inside.. phones are allowed.. in some prisons you get to go home every weekend and then you have to go back on monday... it's become a serious problem for us with mainly eastern europeans coming here and committing crimes (and often murder and stuff so that they'll get an extra long sentence) and then instantly admit they did it so they can be in a swedish prison since it's 100 times better than living in their home country.

I could use a couple weeks there.

The article is an accurate description of life in swedish prisons. All though for swedes who has grown up in this human culture it is still a punishment not to have freedom outside the walls. But then you dont have sit in a prison for so long. You get "life" if you kill someone in a spectacular way. And "life" senteses are in 99% of the sentenses 14 years :) And if they behave the "life" sentens is 2/3 of it. Usually you get out after 8 years... So if you plan on doing some crime, come to sweden ;) But of course it is a paradise for forrengers when comparing to their countries prisons.
