1. Where's Ovadia Yosef
..   (06.12.06)
to blame this on God's response to Olmert's plan?
2. Let s hope for the best ...
Hiram Al Masry ,   tel aviv   (06.12.06)
Indeed, let's hope that the toll in injured people will be as low as possible and that no one will loose either a limb or life ! But what is going one with the train system ? if you check the last 16 months, you ll be surprised at the ration of accidents versus the size of the network... are we doing the right thing ????
3. train derails -how???
Darla ,   Ramat Poleg, Netanya   (06.12.06)
I cross that barrier every morning and there is a guy from Israel Rail standing there, but he is obviously not the solution when a Haifa train whips through the crossing at top speed. It's time for flyovers or underpasses. Reduces traffic and saves lives!!!
4. train accident
adrian ,   tel mond   (06.12.06)
Israeli drivers sometimes are impatient and try to dodge the barriers one must separate rail and car traffic with bridges or underpasses if thats not possible (why) then at least cameras on line at each crossing we are having too many accidents!
5. Train Crash
EM ,   Israel   (06.12.06)
It isn't the trains fault. I cross the RR tracks twice every day near Herzliya. All too often after the red lights alert an approaching train - some car speeds up to cross over before the barrier goes down. Trains wouldn' t crash into vehicles if the drivers didn't try to beat the barrier. I doubt if flagging down the conductor a few meters before the crashsite would have made a difference. Until we lose this national delusion of being "Supermen against the Freyers", all we can do is wait for the next disaster and pray for the full recovery of the injured.
6. #1
Daniel   (06.12.06)
I'm sure he is praying for recovery of those who were injured, Unlike you who sees this as an opportunity to spew your hatred.
7. terrorism?
Jew ,   Jerusalem   (06.12.06)
How do we know that these frequent incidences are not being done purposely? I know taht any many instances they have involved Arab truck drivers. Will the media tell us if the driver reponsible was Arab and where he was from? If the government knows this is another method of terror, would they tell us?
8. This is sabotage work
Brod ,   USA   (06.12.06)
This is most likely caused by sabotage by the enemies of Israel.
9. #2 is absolutely right.
(06.12.06)
The Israeli train system are nothing but hacks. What will I die out from first? a blown bus? train? going to the mall? taxis? I hope everyone will be okay... my condolneces to the ones who won't :(
10. Who was the driver of the truck?
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (06.12.06)
It was a truck, not a car (being reported on TV). Who was this person? Pray for the wellbeing of those injured.
11. to #6
EM ,   Israel   (06.12.06)
How nice to know that this time HaRav Yosev is only praying for the recovery of the injured. Other times he has blamed the tragedies on the victims, or the rest of the country - for not observing mitzvot, Shabbat, unkosher mezuzot etc.
12. re: #7 - terrorism
aliya05.blogspot.com ,   Jerusalem   (06.12.06)
Train crashes are frequent throught the world, how many has the UK suffered in recent years? Many European countries have train problems and they are far from being problem free. Why do some need to assume terror the cause of everything bad? Why not examine the appaling behaviour of Israeli drivers and their lack of etiqute on the road? Why exclude the fact that accidents happen too?
13. To EM
Daniel   (06.12.06)
Ok, bad happens for no reason. There is no justice in anything. Everything is random, has no point, no sense to be made, no way to fix anything, and then you die. Have a nice day
14. Wanna stop this?
J K ,   NYC, USA   (06.12.06)
Move the stop lines further away from the tracks along with the arms that drop down (assuming they have those in Israel). Make the arms drop down a bit earlier. I mean, other than that, at some point people have to be blamed for their own stupidity if they are going to wait THAT close to the path of a train hurtling by @ top speed. The driver, if telling the truth, was the victim of circumstance if hit behind by a truck. I hit someone @ 15mph while sliding on ice on March morning. It doesnt take much to push the car ahead of you forward. Imagine if a truck hit you at the same speed.
15. To Daniel
EM ,   Israel   (06.12.06)
Maybe random, maybe divine. But if divine, one would hope not so immature.
16. #1 Your a sick bastard
(06.12.06)
To use travesties to "prove" a point. Did you actually hear the Rav say that or read it in Hebrew or are you basing your comments on Haaretz or Ynet Why dont you actually understand what he meant http://www.sephardiccouncil.org/sages/kt.html For you to spit on a Rav is a horrible sin, you are so limited in your knowledge its quite amazing. You people say you secular are the most humanist and moral but you spit on your fellow Jew
17. Level crossings
Raoul Schur ,   Netanya, Israel   (06.12.06)
I am astounded every time I drive across a level crossing with huge volumes of road traffic. This is another *Maccabi* bridge type disaster. It is close to criminal negligence that these busy crossings have not been eliminated with bridges or tunnels. Outrageous.
18. To#1
Avraham ,   Netivot   (06.12.06)
You are an ignorat jackass & a fool.
19. death traps ... shame on gvt !!!
avi ,   ofra   (06.12.06)
They compare their last Rolex brand between sipping prestigious liquors. There's work to be done. They bark a good time but let the pits open. Bet they won't do the proper bridge/subway this time too. Worse than Togo. They're criminals.
20. My prayers with those injured and those who lost their lives
(06.12.06)
And to their familes too.
21. To all:
Chris ,   Boulder, CO   (06.12.06)
Maybe this is an incident of sabotage by the Nazis or even Hitler himself !! It might even be people from Mars.. Ugh!! Grow up guys. Mistakes do happen you know. We might as well learn from them. Let's pray for the dead and wish the injured quick recovery..CONSPIRACY THEORY NO MORE
22. Re# 7
Peggi   (06.12.06)

25. Re#24
Peggi   (06.13.06)
U got the other way around.I am talking about the zionist state. Your fanbulous army who killed the Palestinians on a daily basis. It is a mater of time before the land gets back to the original owners (Palestine)
26. # 22 your accent gave it up
ivri   (06.13.06)
Back like Brince or Back like Bamia? oh ...i know....Back like Peace Brocess.
27. Show them how
Michael Garkawe ,   Madison,NJ USA   (06.13.06)
As if the terrorists don't have enough ideas how to kill Israelis, the train accident shows them a new one. They don't need suicide belts or vehicles with explosives. All they need is to drive a truck unto the rail tracks, remove the ignition key and walk away. They don't even have to comit suicide. The rest will be accomplish by the stupidity of the railroad in permitting unguarded crossings. There should be overpasses or underpasses for vehucular traffic across the rr tracks.
28. what's going on?
Art ,   Sydney Australia   (06.13.06)
How come there are so mnay accidents in Israel? such a small country, yet daily accidents that claim lives. Only last year, another major train disaster. And I imagine you have quite small rail network. I'm afraid this seems to me like a country under severe stress.
29. RE #25 You are worried about nothing,
Zionist   (06.13.06)
You can relax. The land is already back with its ORIGINAL owners.
30. The reason
yakov shani ,   IL   (06.13.06)
for this train crash is a brain crash. Oh! you think I am trying to be funny, far from it. People who stick their fingers at the law end up in a train crash. Authorities who permit people to stick their fingers at the law are having a brain crash. This is only one manifestation of lawlessness which can and will lead to the breakdown of society.
