1. GAY EXTREMISM ENCOURAGES EXTREME RESPONSE
bill handel ,   brooklyn, usa   (06.16.06)
Gay extremists, like those who want to march-- en masse--in the Holy City of Jerusaelm provoke such extreme responses. If homo/lesbians would just quietly mind their own business and not force others to view their perverted lifestyle in public, they could be spared such violent responses.
2. Abomination
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (06.16.06)
1. The homosexual act is an abomination. It is unnatural and immoral. 2. Public acceptance of h. activities, parades, etc. is an affront to the sanctity of human life. It is a denial of G-d's order of creation and a form of idolatry. 3. The moral fabric of society is undermined by homosexuality. Once there is official acceptance, such as recognizing h. "marriages" and other such rights, said society will ultimately crumble, caving in on its own depravity. 4. Individuals who have h. tendencies, should seek psychiatric and medical assistance. 5. The sanctity of the Jewish people is all the more injured by the infiltration of sexual perversions which run contrary to the Torah. Good Shabbos,
3. Oh #1 - what's wrong with you?!
R. Cohn ,   Hamburg, Germany   (06.16.06)
Jewish extremists, like those who want to have an own state-- en masse--in the middle east provoke such extreme responses. If Jews would just quietly mind their own business and not force others to view their perverted Jewish life in public, they could be spared such violent responses.
4. Unfortunately, some Jews are not so far off....
Andy   (06.16.06)
in their feelings toward gay people. I am against religious intolerance and extremism of any kind.
5.  Punishments for gay 'offenders,' says 'homosexuals supporte
Rev. Spitz ,   Chesapeake USA   (06.16.06)
Homosexuality is a sin against God and homosexuals should be punished.
6. I wonder what Q.U.I.T has to say about this.
Uziel   (06.16.06)
Q.U.I.T.= Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism. Though personally I agree to apply the measures proposed by Qaradawi to this particular group. The leaders of this group should know that while now they are useful puppets, and that´s why they are beeing paid, the minute the muslums will take the power, they will be tortured and killed.
7. Gay Brooklynites encourage extreme response!
Rustum ,   London, UK   (06.16.06)
Bill Handel's comment about "gay extremists" is wrong and only shows how he allies himself with leading liberal thinkers like al-Qaradawi. 1stly: are they extremists? the people who want to march. Is it extreme to walk down the street with a banner? it certainly was in Nazi Germany, and possibly in Saudi Arabia - but now we read that the Muftis of Brooklyn wish to ban it in Jerusalem. 2ndly: "If homo/lesbians would just quietly mind their own business" - well Mr Handel - you could just about apply this to anyone you don't like. Why don't you ask black people to mind their own business and not to demand their rights? It seems that the Civil Rights movement in the US would have got up your nose - as they also refused to stay at home and remain cotton-pickers. As for being spared "violent responses" - you are playing the sick game of blaming the victim. The people to blame are the paranoid psychos who manifest these "violent responses" - something in their character leads them to respond violently to things which are absolutely none of their business. I do hope that you never force anyone to "view your perverted lifestyle in public". I wouldn't like to see people responding violently to your lifestyle - since you seem to think taht a violent response is the responsibility of the person holding the banner.
8. to #1
Mike ,   Atlanta, GA   (06.16.06)
And practicing Judaism openly encourages non-Jews to terrorize you! That we know from history. One way to stop anti-Semitism, Bill, would involve dismantling Israel and forcing Jews to go underground, like the merranos. The Jews can only blame themselves for all of their suffering, right Bill?! The gays can only blame themselves for all their suffering, right Bill?! The blacks... etc etc.
9. RE: GAY EXTREMISM ENCOURAGES EXTREME RESPONSE
J ,   USA   (06.16.06)
I'm sure the Nazi's felt the same way. Thanks for your comments.

11. Doesn't sound very different from The Pope
Ellen Prescott ,   Southsea, Hampshire   (06.16.06)
and the Jewish fanatics in Israel. Every religion has extremists.
12. The parade is a provocation on the most holyiest city
(06.16.06)
in the world They moved it from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem just to provoke, they would have gotten a better reception but they rather have it in Jerusalem to provoke the religous Jews/Christians/Muslims Its a provocation If you want respect, you have to give us respect aswell. YOU HATE when people "shuve" values down your throat, but you are doing it when you prance around in the most holyiest site in the world to humanity.,

Allan ,   US   (06.16.06)
Your same sentiments were expressed by another individual some 60 years ago that brought about the murder of 10 million people 6 million of whom were our bretheren. Shame on you.
14. #12, why a provocation?
R. Cohn ,   Hamburg, Germany   (06.16.06)
What a medieval superstition to believe that "the religous Jews/Christians/Muslims" could not homsexual themselves. G'd created human beings, okay? So, who created the gays? The devil? Oh dear...
15. #7, #11
Allan ,   Delray Beach, FLA   (06.16.06)
I believe that we finally agree on something. Extremism and intolarence is wrong no matter which side of the equation you're on.
16. ALL GAYS SHOULD ATTEN RAV AMNON YITZCHAK'S MODESTY PARADE
bill handel ,   brooklyn, usa   (06.16.06)
Rav Amnon is schduling a huge event in Teddy Kollek stadium in August. I suggest that all gays cancel their provocative defiant event and attend Rav Amnon's Teshuva event, instead.
17. to #1, 2 points
The Golem ,   Los Angeles, USA   (06.16.06)
First, Gay Jews march in Jerusalem because we too have a portion in Jerusalem, both "shel mata" and "Yerushalyaim shel ma'alah." At the end of my days I will not be asked, "Did you wear a black hat?" but "did I do good in this world did I study Torah and give to tsedaka." Even Rambam's list of those who have no portion in the world to come doesn't mention gays and lesbians. Secondly who has been forcing you to see anything of our "lifestyle?" Were you kidnapped, and tied to a chair and forced to watch gay porn? As if that was the sum total of Gay and Lesbian lives. Do you blame rape victims for being provocative if they are beaten? If all women stayed in the home and wore burkas if they had to go out they wouldn't provoke straight men who can't control themselves? You've got a weird sense of values.
18. #2 unnatural
Abraham ,   Houton, TX   (06.16.06)
The torah would not have to specify it, if it was unnatural. On the contrary, torah believes that, as humans with free choice, we do not always have to act on our desires. In Jewdaism, if someone told you that he/she had homosexual tendancies, but did not act on them, he/she would deserve your utmost respect.
19. R. Cohn
Michelle   (06.16.06)
"If Jews would quiety mind their own business and not force others to view their perverted Jewish life in public." Wait a minute you anti-Semitic jerk. Jews can do whatever the hell they like in their own land.
20. Jerusalem World Pride 2006 - Gay people will be in our...
Andy   (06.16.06)
beloved Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Not to provoke, not to incite, but to celebrate diversity, love, dignity, to pray and basque in G-d's loving embrace. Nobody will defile anything and nobody will disresect anything or anybody. Nobody is expecting everybody to accept the way we live our lives and if people don't, that's fine - everybody should live the way they want as long as they don't threaten or harm anybody else. For those who don't want to attend the events - stay home, watch television, go to the movies, study, pray, read a book, go on a picnic. There are alot of things you can do. Jerusalem is a big enough city for all of us to enjoy peacefully. It doesn't belong exclusively to the dati'im or the chiloneem.
21. Gay Orthodox Jew
Ari ,   Detroit   (06.16.06)
I am an orthodox Jew and I am homosexual. I was created B'tzelem Elohim (in the image of G-d). It would be unholey for me not to except the way Hashem created me. Yes there are certain limitations i must take, but i take them happily because this is the life the Hashem chose for me.
22. Ellen
Michelle   (06.16.06)
"Doesn't sound very different from the Pope and the Jewish fanatics in Israel." You are such a hypocrite. You'd defend the muslims if they were throwing gays and lesbians off of buildings wouldn't you? You're pathetic.
23. this is very ironic
mordy   (06.16.06)
I find it to be very ironic that the politically right-wing Jews in this case side with someone who in all likelihood advocates the same approach to them as he does to gays. This is a little funny even. I am not an advocate of the gay lifestyle which I know Torah prohibits, but please be mindful that the act is prohibited, not being born a certain way. Orthodox community is tacitly acknowledging plight of their own gay constituents, and so far not loud enough. The parade is inapprpropriate and is of bad taste. I think any parade that has to do with sex is inappropriate anywhere. Sex belongs to the bedroom. That said, advocating outright hatred against gays is not a Jewish approach, given that certainly gays our not our enemy, but arab terrorists are. Oh well, at least we share one thing with the arabs-hate for certain people's sexual preferences. This will for sure bring ultimate Geula :)
24. Michelle and others who support Bigotry
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (06.16.06)
Wow what intellect...if you could be just a little smarter you might note the sarcasm being spewed all be it with a less than stellar simile. Perhaps if homosexuals actually fought back instead of holding marches. If they decided to kill or bomb clerics and their followers instead of holding peaceful demonstrations, then I might agree that there was a reason for some kind of repercussion. Until a time comes when homosexuals turn into terrrorists, I think Israel should honor them as part of our society who contribute a great deal of beauty and fun to the world.
25. #19, Michelle
R. Cohn ,   Hamburg, Germany   (06.16.06)
Michelle, prior to insulting me, you should read more carefully what is written. In my post #3, I only quoted the post #1 by Bill Handel (copy & paste). But by replacing the word "homosexuals" by the word "Jews".
26. Reply to R. Cohn
Antonio ,   Haifa   (06.16.06)
As another poster stated, Jews can do whatever we want in our homeland. I support gay rights, like I support basic freedoms of straight people. And I wouldn't support your sick sex parades, no more than I would support straight people running around half-naked, making out, and rubbing off each other in public places. Keep your sexual activities to your bedroom, like every other normal human being.
27. It's starting to be "Muslims as usual"
(06.16.06)
28. Jew and Gay!
Michael ,   Eilat,Israel   (06.16.06)
I saw this Article and said to myself, poor muslims! and then i read the comments of my brothers from the Us to Raanana!! And wow! what a blow! I don't expect anybody lo love the way i live but i coult not think that so much hatred could exist! I love my country,my people and my religion.... We have 613 mitsvots who from all of you can say that he respect ALL of them!!?? Nobody! Even the most religious one...! Let me live my life, you can't make my trial on earth, only g.d when my time will come will do so! Yes i'm Gay, but i don't lie, i don't hate my fellow, i try to best the best evryday! And as for the gay pride in Jerusalem, i also say thats it is not a good idea, there is no need to do it there....Tel Aviv would be much more fun....let us pray in Jerusalem.. And before you hate so much Gays, look at you sons! How many yeshiva guys are gay and live nd suffer in silence! Would you burn your son for something that came on him without him wanting it! We are not gay by choice! And before saying All gays are perverted, think about your sexual behaviour with woman! Do you make love all the time to have children....Be clean yourself before you talk to me! God will have the last word anyway Brothers, you want to kill me for being gay? G.d save your soul! Ps: i'am againt pride in Jerusalem like i would be againt a love parade or any things that don't belong to the image of the city.
29. Don't Revel, Don't Flaunt, Don't Defile
Akiva ,   NJ, USA   (06.16.06)
As I wrote here, everyone has ta'avot, illicite desires. Some desires are more challenging, some we consider more deviate (though who are we to judge until faced with such a desire ourselves???). As long as we acknowledge them for what they are, and fight them, even if we don't constantly succeed, we're on the path to connect with Hashem. When we revel in them, flaunt them, disparage those who don't accept them, and intentionally desire to parade them exactly where they will be noticed the most, then we destroy ourselves, those around us, and society as a whole. WHY A NEED TO PARADE IN JERUSALEM??? Specifically in The Holy City? Specifically "in front of G-d"? That's what can't be stood for. Why gay intolerance for my belief in holiness???
30. our shir hashirim moment reuven!
#2's chavrusa mate   (06.16.06)
didn't our eyes gaze longily at each other over a book of Shas...didn't we share special moments at a friend's chasunah...ah the dancing and the touching... I shed tears when you abandoned your heart and chose your lifestyle...but that was my tragedy not yours and I wish you so much happiness. sad that you deny me mine.
