1. Moyal should be defense minister or PM
Ram Das ,   Big Sur   (06.19.06)
Give MOYAL a medal for saying this “the Palestinian leadership is directly responsible (for the rocket fire.) We will not examine each Qassam to determine which faction owns it; the Palestinians have a leadership, they have a chairman, an Authority and a parliament – and they are all responsible. " Now turn off the lights of Rafah and Gaza City now. Turn off the cell phones too. Tell them gas is next and then finally water. When they say "we give", say give up your weapons and then you get your electricity and cell phones back. This is the way adults handle children and the way mature nations handle terrorist states. You don't have to kill the radical Arabs. Just turn out the lights and turn off the cell phones. Try it. You will see it works. Or Peretz aka Peres do you think you have a better plan?
2. the good news and the bad news
aaron ,   ra'anana   (06.19.06)
the bad news: Peretz will change his mind and say the opposite tomorrow morning the good news: he will say the same the day after that i miss Mofaz, somebody who was CONSISTENTLY wrong ALL the time
3. Didn' he say that already?
Arie   (06.19.06)
Seems every week we hear peretz chamberlain announce that his 'restraint' is over and he will take proper action. Perhaps after the eurabians or his hamass overlords give him permission, maybe then he might authorize the IDF to say "BOO"
4. if israel retaliates, blame breakaway faction of peretz
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.19.06)
israel should strike hard at the palestinians, where it would hurt, and blame israeli artillery as a 'radical offshoot' of the army headed by peretz. then olmert can say he is for peace and should not be held responsible for what radical elements do. after all, if the palestinians can do it, why can't israel?
5. The War with Syria
Steve ,   USA   (06.19.06)
B"H The War with Syria ... is just continuing here through the Hamas (hebrew for violence) organization that is based in Syria. Hamas aims to turn Sderot into a ghost town. Maybe the solution lies with a similar goal. Why should Hamas operate out of Syria in peace while Sderot is being shelled? Why should not the Syrian Hamas operations be turned into a ghost town? The IDF can do something, but if it hits not those in charge but those who are the underlings, it is not getting so far and just building more frustration which Hamas breeds on. Recognize that Hamas is a Syrian organization that is promoting attacks on Israel, and I think that could go a long way. Recognize one Jewish settlement each time Syrian Hamas fails to recognize one Israeli one, by attacking it. Now there is an answer! Each time there is a Kassam barrage, resettle one of the areas evacuated! And arm it fully to respond to any attacks on it. There are solutions. Just no providers.
6. RESTRAINT?
KS ,   Lebanon   (06.19.06)
Restraint?? what?? is this guy on crack?? What restraint is he talking about?? Do we live in different worlds??? Common!!! Do i get my news from mars?? Do CNN and Euronews have offices in a different world and are all their stories nothing but lies?? What about the tens of palestinians that have been dying over the past 2 weeks? is that a fairy tale?? RESTRAINT...YEAH RIGHT!!!
7. Netanyahu
Michael Ghostwolf ,   Bella Vista, Ark, US   (06.19.06)
Sounds like if he were in charge of the military he would cut the power to Gaza and carpet bomb the whole place, I think someone strong like him is what is needed now. I'm not an expert, but it seems like the people of Israel are growing tired of the current leadership?
8. hypocrisy
(06.19.06)
what if the residents of sderot suddenly came up with missiles of their own and started firing them indiscriminately at the palestinians? oh I forgot, we are an accountable nation among nations and would never do that, besides, the world would hold investigations of israel immediately at the UN. I wonder why no one has started investigating the palestinians yet? Oh yea, i forgot, jewish blood is cheap and no one cares. Maybe ellen will go to sderot and become a human shield in solidarity with israel. lets not hold our breath.

13. Moshe Arentz
Francois ,   Paris & Montréal   (06.19.06)
Abu Peretz must resign and Abu Olmert must pick Moshe Arentz as Defense Minister.
14. STAND UP, Mr. Olmert
BRANT ,   Hilton Head USA   (06.19.06)
Eventually, if all you ever do is allow the rest of the world to apply a ridiculous double standard to Israel (basically, it's that beacuse 6 million of us were exterminated, we are not permitted to kill; even in self-defence), you become exactlty what they intended; weak and unable. STAND UP Mr. Olmert, just like King Abdullah does and say what you won't accept (just as he and Mubarak and Abbas and all of them do daily) Tell them and the American President and the E-U's Foreign Minister and the UN Secretary-General,in public, that effective immediately you will tolerate no more attacks on sovereign, undisputed Israeli towns and that you will wipe out the sources of those attacks and that if your enemies choose for those sources to be amongst civilians, children, old men and women and perfectly decent people who don't deserve to die, then the ensuing blood is on THEIR hands. Enough is enough!
15. Olmert/Peretz FIGHT WARwith WORDS Peretz PA DEFENSEMinister?
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.19.06)
What an encouragement to IslamoFascist religious supremacists to massively increase their terrorism - Israeli leaders immorally REFUSE to protect their Jewish citizens. Where are the ethics of Israel's leaders? And in the war against the Jews, whose side are Israeli leaders on? Israel's leaders just massively armed the PA in their non-stop religious terror war against Jews.
16. boggles the mind!
Josh   (06.19.06)
Nu? How much more of this? The inaction of the israeli government to aggressively take on missiles being launched from Gaza boggles the mind. BOGGLES THE MIND!
17. #6: Yup.
(06.19.06)
That is restraint my KS buddy. If we had used all of our force against palestinians they would've been dust by now.

20. SDEROT'S KIDS DEFENSELESS. ISRAEL MADE WAR on AMONA CHILDREN
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.19.06)
Israel's leaders refuse to stop the daily rocket attacks of religious war against Sderot's Jewish children. Barbaric Muslim terrorists show no mercy to Jewish children. But Olmert and Israel's leaders don't go to war against the terrorists. Olmert waged war against defenseless Jewish children. On February l, 2006, in Amona, police on horseback charged at peaceful protesters. Jews passively sitting down were savagely hit repeatedly in the head with metal batons. This is the U.S. EU, UN/Russia Road Map "peace" plan in action; the total and criminal destruction of Jews' human rights, to give Jewish Land and holy places to Islamo-Fascists for a Global Islamic Terror State. Shlomo Wollins of israelreporter.com: "I have just been contacted by a medic who has been involved with the treatment of the 200+ wounded child protestors. He said that doctors who have worked in Israel for 20 years are shocked at extent of wounds and numbers of injured. The doctor said that when the IDF raids an arab "terror-den", that the terrorists wounded in raid are usually less-severe than the majority of the cases with the child-protestors." 21. Cut off power and gas to Gaza!
David ,   Boston, USA   (06.19.06)
I dont understand why Israel continues to give this away to Arabs in Gaza. Israel must stop this. PA is responsible for bombing Israel. Cut off its resources.
22. If S'derot Residents Feel Compelled To Run Away So Should ..
Adina kUtnicki ,   US   (06.19.06)
Not only should Olmert show up in S'derot, but he should be forced to reside in S'derot until ALL the balance of terror is restored. Why is his life more valuable than any other person in S'derot or anywhere else? The fact that he has connived his way to the top of the trash heap should not immunize him from realities of life in Israel. Being protected night and day by bodyguards and all other resources is no excuse for his (im)moral blindness. Brothers and sisters in S'derot - if Mohammed won't come to the mountain, then....Therefore, park yourselves in front of his house and don't budge until he protects you. If thousands show up en masse he will have a hard time shooing you all away.
23. Cut off Gaza's water: No Water = No Terror
Dudu ,   Kfar Sava   (06.19.06)
Peretz - its not brain surgery
24. WHAT'S THE MOTIVATION
Sam Weinstein ,   usa   (06.19.06)
What's the motivation for Peretz and Olmart to allow attacks on Israel without little relaliation? No other country would allow this. What is their Motivation???
25. What is more important?
Arik Sharon ,   Tel Hashomer   (06.19.06)
Peace in Sderot OR Omri goes free with $3 million from Greek island scam?
26. Yes #6 that's called restaint

27. Sderot and disengagement
Drumgoole ,   Newark NJ   (06.20.06)
What will it take to make Israel understand that disengagement does not work? Leaving Gaza unilaterally has caused thousands of Israelis to become homeless and unemployed. Many settlers, who came to Gaza at the behest of the government, still haven't been compensated and the government doesn't seem to care at all for their welfare. Millions of dollars are needed for the Gaza disengagement and billions will be needed for a disengagement from Judea/Samaria. However, if the disengagement advanced the cause of peace or even just strengthened security for Israelis, it would have been worth the cost. In fact, Israel's security has suffered since leaving Gaza. Sderot has become a dangerous shooting gallery with children's lives disrupted and at great risk. Major power plants at Ashkelon are in range of the rockets. Peretz, the union hack, knows as much about defense as he knows about quantum theory ---nothing. Diplomatically, Israel has gained virtually nothing from the unilateral abandonment of Gaza. The EU has made it clear that it will not accept any unilateral Israeli drawn borders and the mainstream media continues to rush to judgement against Israel ---blaming Israel for the deaths of civilians on the Gaza beaches without any confirmation. Western European governments also rushed to condemn Israel for the killings and the evil and stupid Kofi Annan refused to accept Israel's explanation of what happened. For those supporters of unilateral disengagement, I would like them to list the ways that Israel has benefitted from disengagement because I can't think of any reasons to continue the process. While it is true that Gaza was a festering place for radicalism before the disengagement, it has only become worse since Israel left.
