How would you feel if the gov't were to tell you that the 'civilians' of Beit Hanun can't be harmed, whereas you and your fellow townspeople can be! While the IDF has every tool available to stop these attacks they refuse to do so because the Olmert gang (like the Sharon gang) doesn't allow them to. Their political gymnastics are more important. Dereliction of duty, anyone? Also, how would it look if the IDF retook Gaza? After all, 23 Jewish communities were destroyed ! in order to leave Gaza. Have you forgotten the regime's promise that they will give punishing blows to ANY rockets that come from Gaza? Furthermore, how will the regime be able to accomplish 'convergence' (expulsion/retreat, surrender) if they have to retake Gaza? Therefore, they are telling the truly brave and inocent citizens of S'derot - f--k you, we have political games to play. If some Jews get killed or maimed, they are considered "sacrifices for peace". Remember that winning line of yours Mr. Peres?

Shimon, Wake up you are not living in London during the Blitz where there is no choice but to take it. It is hard to believe that a leader in Israel could make these remarks. However, it does reveal his attitude.

Peres should think before he opens his mouth although I realize that the filtering mechanism within the brain tends to diminish in old age. His lack of sensitivity towards the brave people of Sderot is so meanspirited, and unfeeling that I would have expected it to come from Abbas or Hamas, not an Israeli official.

Lead by example peres -- put 1/2 half of your grandkids in Sderot and the other half in Kyriat Shmona schools.

All of a sudden Peres has this notion that we have to stand strong against the Palestinian rockets...Why wasnt he advocating this in Gush Katif? Now that we have retreated and shown the palestinians that terror has accomplished something how can we expect the rockets to stop on their own. Furthermore how can you ask the people of Sderot to stand strong when you abandoned their brothers who lived less then a kilometer away?

In response to your comment "YOU keep electing these idiots !" You don't know how untrue this statement is that you made. NO ONE, really votes for this guy and this is the honest truth. Even if his party is defeated, some how or another this guy always "morphs" into some chief Knesset position, and they call him" "Vice" something or other, and this is the truth. Some how he has some protection that always keeps him on top, and I don't think it's because someone voted him him there.

Instead of belittling the reaction of the people of Sderot who have been bombarded with more missiles than any other Israeli town, including Kiryat Shmona, 85-year old Mr Peres might want to spent a few weeks residing there and running for shelter every time the Red Alert warning system is activated. He is in excellent physical condition being about to walk up 12 flights of stairs to his Tel Aviv flat when there was an electric blackout. His security guards who could be his grandsons were out of breath. People of Sderot: Arrange a visit for him without delay and don't take 'no' for an answer.

His pronouncement is a clear sign of senility. It is time that he steps down
