Thanks BBC, for showing you care, but not a clever move at all, just laughable. Compliment to Israel 1-0
4. This Retard and his country will face A harsh response
Sheikh Abdul Haq ,   Saudia Arabia   (06.20.06)
The arab and moslem world is very fuming about this very bad scene and Will take actions to punish him and his Banana republic country. We will boycot all trade with this Ghana and impose economic sanctions through arab league and organisation of islamic countries. Egypt has started moves to ban this traitor from playing again in Africa and throw out Ghana from the African football association. We will teach him a lesson so he will be an example to all those grazy zionist lovers. Alla is great Sheikh Abdul Haq Former Saudi international

13. god bless pantsil
golan ,   brookyln   (06.20.06)
he should be made an honarary israeli citizen right away it woruld better to have him as a citizen rather than the israeli ararbs who hate israel. the muslim reposne should be very intersting he really didnt do anything wrong at all but when people hate they just hate
14. I understand why he did it.
James J. Koumos ,   Leesville, LA, USA   (06.20.06)
I understand the reasons why he did it, if I was in his shoes I would've been tempted to do the same thing. I was upset when the article said he may have been naive or acted out of ignorance. If a person wants to show honor to who or what they love, they should be willing to do it even if it's not considered "politicaly correct".
15. don't people have something better to do
Joe ,   Brooklyn, NY   (06.20.06)
I'd like to think that people have better things to worry about than this guy waving the Israeli flag. If a Ghanian player waived the Palestinian flag or the Iranian flag or any flag of any country that wasn't my favorite, I think I'd say that's nice and go think about something more important, like maybe Brangelina.
16. He must apologise for his stupidity
Mohammad Arafat ,   London_UK   (06.20.06)
What an idiot. He clearly did not realize what he was doing. Waving an Israeli flag is offensive to millions of people around the world in general and to the families of the victims of Israeli terror in particular. Everyone I know who supported Ghana in the past will turn against them and cheer any team that plays Ghana including the much hated USA.
17. Thank you John
Freddy Basurco ,   Tacna, Peru   (06.20.06)
He should be granted israeli citizenship....
18. "Offended by the event"? Excuse me?
Tahl ,   Israel   (06.20.06)
- "the federation is apologizing for anyone who was offended by the event"? Offended? As if waving the Israeli flag is considered an insult? - "It has to do with Pantsil's naivety and unawareness"? As if showing solidarity with Israel is something that no informed, self-aware individual should be doing? - "the political ramifications of such an act"? As if it is expressing sympathy with the Israeli people, and making them happy, is something too political? Give me a f**king break. What in God's name is wrong with that Ghana spokesman! How can a flag of a sovreign country, recognized by the vast majority of the world, including Ghana, and proudly waving in the UN as well as countless of sports competitions, be "offensive"? The flag symbolizes Israel's right to self-existence. If someone finds this concept "offensive", it only speaks volumes about the extreme hate of this individual. I can understand how Ghana fans may feel disappointed by Pantsil not waving the Ghana flag, but - apologizing to Arabs because they were so hateful as to find the flag "offensive"? Who are they to deserve such apology? The Arabs should be left to stuff on this beautiful gesture, down their throats. Had some other player (from say, England), waved the Palestinian flag in his celebrations, would anyone in the English football federation apologize to Israel? Of course they won't. But Israel would never even complain. The Ghana spokesman has proven himself as a very small person.
19. AWESOME!
Dylan ,   USA/New Zealand   (06.20.06)
If this guy had have pulled out a Palestinian flag nobody would have said a thing and he would have been on the front of every paper. No? Why did no one condemn the Italians when they won in 84 for the Pali's. Why should it be shameful in this world to wave an Israeli flag? The world has definitely come under Islamic control if this is true. Thanks for your response #16, true hatred within Islam is dificult to hide.
20. John Pantsil
NYC Girl   (06.20.06)
I hope the government will pull out all the stops to honor him. Israelis (and all Jews, for that matter), should be very proud of him. If nothing else, he deserves a prize for causing all that apoplexy among the racists who just love to brand Israel as an apartheid state. It's hard to imagine but one black African athlete, with a little flag stuffed in his sock, has done more to put the lie to that calumny than all the so-called media experts combined. You rock, John Pantsil!
21. big deal
(06.20.06)
22. If he waved the Hamas Flag would he be as unpopular.

Almost everyone's had it with you and yours, Mohammed, including, but not limited to, the families of the victims of Arab terror throughout the world.
25. He should be able to wave any flag that pleases him
wanda ,   montreal   (06.20.06)
26. look at the world we live in! a guy cant wave a certain flag
because it represent ,   jews   (06.20.06)
27. Thank you Mr. Pantsil We are Proud of you!!!
Eli ,   Ramat Gan   (06.20.06)
28. # 4 Abdul Haq
Chaz Chandler ,   UK   (06.20.06)
So sorry that the mere sight of an Israeli flag can make you physicaly feel sick. That actually makes me feel good. It pleases me to see you in mental anguish, and despair....Cry baby cry. As a Jew, Saudis don't make me feel ill, even though women have no rights, and won't allow a Jew in your country. Why are you so afraid of us? Maybe because many of your people will see the truth that Judism brings, and you will not let one person in your country convert. How does it feel to only have 36 of 52 playing cards Mr. Haq? Thank you Mr. Pantsil
29. Imagine beckham waving a spanish flag!!!
samir ,   Morocco   (06.20.06)

30. Tahl #18: Well said!!
