1. An impressive effort – cheers over our differences.
Boaz ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (06.25.06)
2. know your history
Alex ,   US   (06.25.06)
Mark Twain: "I am not the Sultan, and I am not objecting; but if that concentration of the cunningest brains in the world are going to be made into a free country (bar Scotland), I think it would be politic to stop it. It will not be well to let that race find out its strength. If the horses knew theirs, we should not ride anymore."
3. a nudge is as good as a wink
Joy Springreen   (06.25.06)
to a blind man ;)
4. Ray Hanania is cool:-)!
(06.25.06)
5. Follow the money......
Zvi Lando ,   Tekoa   (06.25.06)
Read: State of Fear about the so-called "green" organizations. Amnesty rolls around hundreds of million dollars, a large percent goes to.... salaries.... Peace Now "leader" gets $34,000 for his part time efforts (paid by the EU) which he has to justify by "something", so he goes every once in a while to the Israeli supreme court and sues the government, the "settlers" etc.... I want to stregthen the writer of this article.... but in a way he may not appreciate.... A lot of people are making a lot of money .... cynically exploiting our dream of some kind of peace while singing their own praises. The bottom line remains, and you have to pay attention not to get lost: Arab people are willing to do anything, use anything, even the Koran... in order to vanquish a few million Jews.... nothing else is important.... not the borders, not the settlements, not the education, not even Richard Gere, Roger Waters (I like both of them as preformers....I spent 1100 to get my kids tickets for the concert :) Peace will come, only when the fanatic Islam is gone, when teachers of Islam will not be afraid to say that the Koran itself promises that the Jews will return to Israel to make it their home..... Follow the money .....
6. Comedy for Peace
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (06.25.06)
Ray Hanania took his troupe of clowns for a performance in Gaza. It bombed.
7. Ray - Those "Groups" Never seem to get anything done..
Edan ,   Beer Sheva   (06.26.06)
Which is basically what you're saying in this article, if I understood correctly. It's true. Without any political clout it's just a bunch of people with noble ideas... What we need to do is have Palestinian mothers who are proud of their suicide bombing sons sit and have a discussion with the victims of those bombs. Likewise we should sit some of the settlers and the right-wing nuts down next to a normal palestinian family. When we talk about the enemies of peace (and therefor the obstacles) we're talking about people who REFUSE to try and see things from the opposite point of view. There's really nothing you can do with people like that except for hope they die out soon... (BTW I apologized for my initial reaction to your last article).
8. Ron sez: “Bonos” are trying to change the world but ...
Ron ,   LA   (06.26.06)
...no Hnooonia is trying to change himself... A Palestinian and an Israeli walked into a bar, and ... Ahmed dude says: Look Haim, look at those druggies and” celebrities” who live and shower in gold and use us for fun ,publicity... They use other progressive” idiots to build ideal “Peace on Earth”. This peace supposed to be “ balanced” without “racism”, non Nazis and Zionists allowed. Everybody must be“ progressive” and believe in “ justice” and the most important thing; LOVE, love, love and peace, peace, peace. Of course no “occupation” and no “aggression” and especially no “racism and “imperialism” . Just “ balance” and peace. Let us see how if we can do “something good”... So our two smart friends opened up a new NGO and Ahmed became a president and Haim became CEO of Peace Process of Department of Tolerance and Development and Co- CEO of New Middle East Foundation. (DTDCNMEF) They quickly got some $2,3 million from EU Foundation of Orphans of Peace and Human Understanding (FOPHU)and started to work ( on building their villas and smokink big, fat Cuban cigars). They got all the druggies and low lives from the entertainment industry who started to do “something” and “promote” “something for peace”. After many years, drugs, free political prostitution and Sado-Mazo parties against the wall for “third-worlders” they wondered why nobody cares about their “work”. Then the smartest “celebrity wonabee“(known worldwide as schwantz who HAVEN’T performed with Jacky Mason) started to promote himself on Ynet, so he could be as famous as those druggies and “Rich and Famous”. He even decided he is a “ Filasteenian” (Great marketing strategy, called “positioning”) After all Hanania’s hero is Jew-Arab Jerry Seinfeld (if you don’t know he is NOT a Jew ; according to Hanania, he is Arab-Jew, ha,ha) Ron, sez, while observing those “ Dreamjerks”, Hollyweirdos: “Bonos” are trying to change the world but nobody is trying to change himself...Why... They are smart already... Just look at People magazine...”
9. the talkback here tell it is explosion of war efforts
huny ,   not america   (06.26.06)
and the word explosion fit the war more than the peace so i think these efforts is not for peace may be for money i prefer the peace effort to be for peace ,,but sure efforts for war is for money not for the war only
10. the real reason...
Hussam ,   Ontario, CA USA   (06.27.06)
the real reason why Hanania is so ineffective and disliked is that his act just sucks! He can't make anyone laugh and is full of bitterness. So other groups shy away from him. Sad but true. I had a lot of hope when I heard him the first time - and he almost made my cry.
11. ironic - 100 groups just met to end conflict
Dori ,   Tel Aviv   (06.27.06)
while this second grade guy is writing to complain about no cooperation, in Jordan this very week 100 Israeli and Palestinian organizations just met to coordinate and cooperate. He doesn't seem to know about it because for him "peace" is his "gimmick" for making money as a failed comedian. But those that are really committed are working hard - and united.
12. #10 Hussam. Why don't you Arab comedians
Ron ,   LA   (06.27.06)
approach Ynet and publish some good humor instead of Hanania? I am sure you have good comedians out there. I heard about some Iranian American, unfortunately, I forgot his name. The problem Ynet can not drop him because he will shout all over the world how those Jews are Nazis and racists, so they have to keep him, otherwise they get the same treatment as Jacky Mason. Hanania stil distribute fliers against Jacky Mason before his performances. People scared of Hanania. He likes to provoke...Only if you Arab comedians step up to the plate there is a chance... Otherwise we stuck here with failed" comedian" who keeps himself busy by intimidating and provoking...
13. #12, Ron of LAme ... you don't get it
Ray Hanania ,   Chicago, IL USA   (06.30.06)
Yea, Ron of LAme ... you don't get it, do you. The reason some of the comics hate me is because I am hanging around here not just with you, a rightwing loose nut, but regular Jews and Israelis who are moderates. So, your plan to oust Ray and replace me with what, moderate Arab comics who love what Israel is doing, ah, is a little LAme ... Maybe you might want Indian and Iranian comics to write here, and maybe you want to go to Pakistan to sign a peace treaty with the Pakistinians ... oh, that's a great idea. Albert Brooks already went in the wrong direction once ... Sorry Ronnie boy. You're stuck with me. I'm the moderate. If you don;t like it, then you have no other choice. Of course, what you really don't like is a Palestinian who has an opinion that;'s tougher to argue against. I mean, a fanatic who support ssuicide bombing is so much easier to denounce than a moderate who denounces suicide bombings, Hamas, and their terrorist ilk. The thing you miss is that you don't have to be an anti-Semite or a jJew-hater to have a legitimate criticism of israeli government policy, as I do. And Jews don't have to be like you to oppose bad Palestinian policy or criticize Hamas. PS ... I didn't organize any protests aginst Jackie Mason. It's a lie spread by you and others. I was invited by Not in My Name, a Jewish group that protests Jackie mason's racism to speak at one of their rallies and I gladly did go there ... If all the Israelis were like, it would be so easy to win. But fortunately, they're not all like you. There are reasonable Israelis out there who don't agree with Israeli government policies and there are reasonable Palestinians out there like me who don't agree with Hamas terrorism and suicide bombings. You're the one that will have to live with it. By the way, maybe you want to meet and pal around with "Hussam." He's not only against me. He hates you, because of the 3-letter-word. Ray Hanania www.hanania.com
14. No #11, Dori ...
Ray Hanania ,   Chicago, IL USA   (06.30.06)
the problem is the organizers can't figure out how to get publicity ... I'm not the only person who didn't hear about the "gathering" in Jordan ... of course, in Jordan, you are not allowed to make jokes about King Abdullah. But I can do a lot of "Jew-hating jokes" there, if I wanted to perform there, but I won't. Thanks for the tip ont he meeting. I'll bet it was very successful. Ray hanania www.hanania.com
15. There is humor; there are comics. Then there is Hanania(1).
Ron ,   LA   (06.30.06)
Yea, Ron of LAme ... you don't get it, do you. The reason some of the comics hate me is because I am hanging around here not just with you, a rightwing loose nut, but regular Jews and Israelis who are moderates. >>> I think they “ hate” you because you are simply bad “ comic” without sense of humor. Why do you think people “ hate” you? You are harmless... just pitiful wonnabeee<<< So, your plan to oust Ray and replace me with what, moderate Arab comics who love what Israel is doing, ah, is a little LAme ... >>> Not necessary “ moderate” I don’t care so much if he is “ moderate” or not. I prefer somebody with sense of humor who can write some sense, unlike you. In fact I prefer somebody who can present a different opinion, but INTELLIGENTLY. I personally don’t have problems with any good reasoned opinion. I am interested in truth, not agreement, unlike you. <<< Maybe you might want Indian and Iranian comics to write here, and maybe you want to go to Pakistan to sign a peace treaty with the Pakistinians ... oh, that's a great idea. Albert Brooks already went in the wrong direction once ... >>> I don’t care if the writer is Iranian or Pakistani an. My only consideration is if he is smart and has interesting ideas. I like to be challenged, Ray. In fact one of my favorite newspaper is Asia Times. I also don’t think you represent Palestinians in any way... Just because your dad came from the area in 1920’s doesn’t make you Palestinian. You don’t speak the language and not familiar with their culture, Ray<<< Sorry Ronnie boy. You're stuck with me. I'm the moderate.>>> What makes you a “ moderate” by the way? I think you worry about self-promotion, not Palestinians. Palestinians has been used by so many Arabs previously and what they got from your “ support”? NADA. ZILCH. <<< If you don;t like it, then you have no other choice. Of course, what you really don't like is a Palestinian who has an opinion that;'s tougher to argue against. I mean, a fanatic who support suicide bombing is so much easier to denounce than a moderate who denounces suicide bombings, Hamas, and their terrorist ilk. >>> Thanks for not supporting suicide bombing, Ray you are really civilized. What would Israel do without your support?<<<
16. There is humor; there are comics. Then there is Hanania(2)
Ron ,   LA   (06.30.06)
The thing you miss is that you don't have to be an anti-Semite or a jJew-hater to have a legitimate criticism of israeli government policy, as I do. And Jews don't have to be like you to oppose bad Palestinian policy or criticize Hamas. >>> Legitimate criticism is OK as long as it makes sense. You are really silly sometimes. It is NOT about opinions. It is about a person who doesn’t know what he writes about. The person without sense of humor who tries to insult people intelligence<<< PS ... I didn't organize any protests aginst Jackie Mason. It's a lie spread by you and others. I was invited by Not in My Name, a Jewish group that protests Jackie mason's racism to speak at one of their rallies and I gladly did go there ... >>> I didn’t spread any lies, everything is in papers, Hanania Read #40 again http://www.ynetnews.com/Ext/App/TalkBack/CdaViewOpenTalkBack/0,11382,L-3253196-2,00.html <<< If all the Israelis were like, it would be so easy to win. But fortunately, they're not all like you. There are reasonable Israelis out there who don't agree with Israeli government policies and there are reasonable Palestinians out there like me who don't agree with Hamas terrorism and suicide bombings. >>> To be “reasonable has nothing to do with agreeing with any particular government...do you understand how ridiculous you are?<<< You're the one that will have to live with it. >> I live pretty good. It is nothing personal. You have the right to be a shwantz and show it to everybody. You can even be very high opinion about yourself, good luck<<< By the way, maybe you want to meet and pal around with "Hussam." He's not only against me. He hates you, because of the 3-letter-word. >>>Looks like everybody “hates” you, Hanania. I recommend “professional help” .I don’t care if Hussam hates me. It doesn’t looks like it, anyway. Sorry I am not paranoid, Hanannia. But even if he is, this is his problem. As Miles Franklin said: “It's a sign of your own worth sometimes if you are hated by the right people. “<<<
