31. Orange = anti-disengagement
Talula ,   Israel   (06.29.06)
I think Abu Tir's orange beard can only mean ONE THING! He was against the disengagement!!!!!! That's so funny.
32. ISRAEL IS DOING THE KIDNAPPING
Ryan ,   Chicago,IL, USA   (06.29.06)
So the Palestinians are being accused of "kidnapping" an israeli who is a soldier. Israelis wonder why would the Palestinian militant factions go about doing such an operation in which two Israeli soldiers were killed and one was kidnapped. Israel has killed tens of innocent Palestinian civilans in the past month without any harsh international condemnation heard, and when the Palestinians go about taking an Israeli soldier hostage, the whole world goes absolutely crazy about what happened. I do not understand why Israel has the right to "retaliate" to its losses while the Palestinians are not even allowed to lead a decent and free life. Israel is not a democracy, its based on occupation and oppression.
33. #18 Terrorism has and will be defeated
Caligula's Horse ,   Solomon's Stables   (06.29.06)
Idiots who say that terrorism cannot be defeated had better crawl into their defeatist caves and let men fight, terrorism can be fought, can be dried, can be destroyed and can be defeated, so stop spewing out leftist slogans and come back to planet earth.
34. Live in your Dreams
Jamal ,   nablus   (06.29.06)
Keep living and thinking as you do, because this is the only way israel can be detroyed as a state. You force your and our extremests to be in charge and for sure you are the losers, you are only 15 Million people all over the world. So please continue as you are
35. Support the hunger strike!
yehuda ,   new york us   (06.29.06)
We should all support their hunger strike. They claim it's their "civil right" under "international law (sic, Mao correctly pointed out there is only "international power from the guns", not laws) We should not deny them their "right" to starve themselves to death so that they can rid themselves of their many wives, and get 72 virgins instead! These terrorists have this "right" and we should all support their desire to starve themselves to death, and get their virgins!
36. #26 & #28
MK ,   USA   (06.29.06)
Unless Israel retreat to the 1967 borders, there will be no peace. Don't tell me they extended their hands for 6 decades. We have 2 UN resolutions demanding the withdrawal back to the 1967 borders and were NEVER implemented. I do not want to hear any more nonsense. You guys need to educate yourself and become more sophisticated in your ways of thinking.
37. Hamas officials to stand trial
bergman n ,   ny   (06.29.06)
I don’t see why they where arrested. I’m looking for the specific reason not that they don’t belong in jail anyway so if you would pleas let me know thank you
38. It's so simiple, a child could understood it
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (06.29.06)
In the school yard, a bully makes life awful for the other kids. He is taken to the principal's office and punished (or should be). Someone hires a 'killer for hir' - the person who sends the gunman should also stand trial. I don't know what the big deal is. We didn't assassinate these people. We arrested them and they will stand trial for the crimes they have committed. What could be more fair than that? Unless you're a knee-jerk loony leftists you wouldn't understand it.
39. Forget the Good; Just The Bad and the Ugly
Z ,   Almost there....   (06.29.06)
I heard that Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus are looking for clowns....I say we put big rubber noses on them; some big funny shoes; tattered clothing; stuff them all into a little car...shoot them out of a cannon! Wow what fun!
40. To the insufferable MK, #36
Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (06.29.06)
MK says: "Unless Israel retreat to the 1967 borders, there will be no peace." Do you threaten or make prophesy? Does this resemble your sophisticated way of thinking? Regurgitating old lines about UN resolution and shaking your fist?
41. #16
CJ ,   Denver, USA   (06.29.06)
You don't know what intelligence the Israeli government had concerning Syria.
42. As long as there are indictments given out
jason white ,   afula,israel   (06.29.06)
How about a couple for peres? ham-ass would not be in the position they are in now without him and his "new middle east".
43. #2 Kyle
Sam Weinstein ,   USA   (06.29.06)
I was think more in lines of a fireing squad.
44. The color of the Beard...
HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.29.06)
It is either treated with Henna. Or the crusaders did the Abu Tir ancestors in Syria
45. #36
Jane   (06.29.06)
It is you who needs an education. There was no provision for the return to the '67 borders.
46. #32 Ryan from Chicago
HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.29.06)
The man from the windy city wrote the following scatology, quote: I do not understand why Israel has the right to "retaliate" to its losses while the Palestinians are not even allowed to lead a decent and free life. Israel is not a democracy, its based on occupation and oppression. Unquote. Simple answer… because the so-called Palestinian Arabs are NOT in their realm, they are usurpers, squatters and encroachers on the Land of Israel from Ancient Times. Remember Israel IS the authority here exactly as Putin is in authority in Russia...
47. Legal process will produce justice. Great Move
George Washington ,   Crossing the Patomic   (06.29.06)
It was a very wise move to arrest these terrorists, just as all the other leaders who espouse terror should have been arrested and tried in a court of law. You should ask the NY Times to publish the text of the transcripts of the trail in toto so that the leftists can read what horrors these front men have done to innocent civilians Finally we see wisdom and leadership from Olmert and the AG. Credit where credit is due and to the brave Shin Bet which brought them in for justice. One more thing. What justice was there for the 18 year old boy who was murdered in cold blood by Arab injustice a few days ago. A bullet in the head for a boy. Taring and feathering should be put onto the books of law in Israel so that these vultures in Hamas can go around for a few months as the animals they are.
48. #36 The illusions of the empty Jar
HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.29.06)
Pretending to be the AUTHORITY on the so-called border MK is trying desperately to score one for the Palestinian Arabs.. Well MK you are the one who needs to be educated for if you say “1967 BORDERS” (which btw is false) you might believe in many other chimeras. The 1967 So-called Border is in reality an ‘Armistice line.’ A border delineates the frontiers of a Nation and no Nation was in existence after Jordan captured Yehuda and Shomron for 19 years [from 1948 to 1967...] THE LINE WAS AN ARMISTICE LINE (take that to the Bank) until Israel liberated it. The so-called Palestinian Arabs did not even help. Speaking of education you have a huge GAP in your knowledge...
49. Stop press!
Ram ,   London   (06.30.06)
Peretz has stopped the incursion into Gaza for the last 28 hours! Is he sane?????????
50. #49 ram.. the reason why is that...
jason ,   usa   (06.30.06)
their waiting for a peace talk offer but if it fails... bye bye gaza
51. #18 MK writes
HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.30.06)
Quote: It's high time that the Israelis realized that the language of force DOES NOT WORK. Terrorism is a mindset. It is not a tangible thing we can bomb. When people have more hopes in life, they naturally abandon terror. But it seems to me Israel is boosting their anger by trying to stifle them, and hence it is creating more and more violence. Unquote So terrorism (according to you) is a mindset coming from the mouth of babes I suppose. In my estimation the above scatology... is akin to your theory of the 1967 Border in Israel. Just another MORONIC/CHILDISH statement from MK who wants to throw his weight around yet pops out like a sore thumb in the center field of historical facts. It is not a mindset at all; it is just another dictate from the Seventh Century Qur’an and the Hadith, a confrontation of believers in chimeras against the 21st Century educated, emancipated and enlightened… No wonder the One billion followers of Islam count less than 9% educated people. (They have taken the Empty Jars and pickled some olives.)
52. for #32 ryan very important
simon ,   brooklyn ny   (06.30.06)
hi ryan, i know deep down it has nothing to do with israels agression, i know thats not the reason why your so upset. lets be honest..... ryan is it because you have no friends? when you try to make friends do they run from you?. i would. dont feel bad in time you will realize that the reason why people dont wanna be your friend is because your such a MORON
53. the red beard
JOEY ,   usa   (06.30.06)
i wonder if the man with the red beard thinks that he looks good. is he blind? everytime i look at him im thinking that hes playing a joke on everyone, like any minute he will pull it off and say GOT YOU. he should be shot just for having vile thing on his face
54. #16 That glass of wine make all of us sick.
HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.30.06)
So what do you suggest 'Armchair General'?
55. That reminds me of this very good post
HBendor ,   New York USA   (06.30.06)
Of course, you know this means war! Filed under: Front Page Groucho Marx says this line in the classic comedy “Duck Soup”. Hamas bellowing the same line would be funny if it weren’t so sickeningly stupid and hypocritical. Hamas, dedicated to the murder of Jews and the destruction of Israel, proffers the same line because Israel has decided to quit putting up with murderers, terrorism and a so-called “government” which has backed up, promoted or been actively involved all along with terror. And Israel is arresting Hamas members of this pathetic excuse for leadership (though, are they really any different or worse than the PA and their murderous ilk, led by Arafat the murderer and now Abbas the Holocaust denier? Oh yeah, one is Islamic and the other is just the more secular brand of thief and killer. I can’t really tell much more difference between a member of the PA and one of Hamas…green wrappings around their head. Is that the difference? It’s more akin to a giant “Bloods vs. Crips” gang war, both sides indististinguishable in their brutality and thuggishness.) And so Israel has declared war on Hamas by these arrests. If it is so, GOOD. It is long overdue. As has been noted, no other country on earth would put up with the terror and the killings and the assaults on its sovereign citizenry, with bombs falling into its cities and its busses, pizzerias, cafes and hotels being blown up, or its citizens being executed for the sin of…being a Jew hitchhiking, as has now apparently happened to Eliyahu Asheri, 18 years old, who did nothing to harm anyone. It IS time to make war. But it’s not much of a war if all Israel is going to do is arrest some Hamas members. Who in the history of the world waged war by…putting some of the bad guys in prison? My memory is that most wars, these same Hamas terrorists would be, elsewhere, killed. But no, they are arrested, and most likely, will soon again be free. That’s the war Hamas is yelling and screaming about. Or, maybe it’s about the Israeli incursion into Gaza…the same Gaza that has had no Israeli presence to blame for the continued Qassam attacks into Sderot and southern Israel. No Israeli settlers to blame for…what were they being blamed for before? Raising better vegetables on areas of the Gazan sand that the Gazan Arabs weren’t using themselves? Oh yeah, I forget, that was pretty warlike also. I forget that Israel had to leave Gaza because it required too many soldiers to protect the settlers there. Of course, had the Arabs wanted to share in the wealth, learn from the Israelis, work together to make the life of both sides’ children better, make a new life for themselves…they could have made peace instead of making war. It’s all very confusing. The Gazan Palestinians cheered that Israelis were forced out, and the land was no longer “occupied”…so they destroyed the greenhouses and used some of the settlements as Hamas training camp grounds…no act of war there. Fired hundreds of Qassams into Israel though there was no longer an “occupation”…no war there. Built tunnels and killed some Israeli soldiers, kidnapped one…no war there. On the West Bank, picked up a hitchhiking teen and put a bullet in the back of his head…no war there. Have killed or maimed hundreds of other Israelis on both sides of the Green Line..no war there. Over the past 100 years have murdered how many Jews in cold blood…no war there. How could the adherents of the Religion of Peace ever make war? It’s to laugh. But heavens to Betsy, Hamas leaders and govt. reps are being…arrested. It’s war, I tell you, war! No Tags Posted by Maurice Sonnenwirth @ 1:26 am |
56. Arresting Hamas Terrorists
lynne wooldridge ,   austin, texas usa   (06.30.06)
I don't know how this will turn out, but honestly, Hamas has been attacking Israel, committing terrorists acts, and calling for the destruction of Israel. Would other countries allow this? I think not. I happen to have a great deal of faith in Abbas and hope that he can work with Olmert to bring peace to the area. Honestly, I think that arresting the Hamas terrorists was brilliant.
57. Hamas has claimed many terrorist attacks.
D- ,   San Diego, USA   (07.01.06)
I don't understand how Israel could NOT arrest anyone who claims to be Hamas. But then again, given that so many terrorist attacks have been claimed for all Muslims, I don't understand how any free country could NOT arrest all of it's people who claim to be Muslims. So, I might not be the best one to ask, because I just don't understand very much, apparently.
58. Israeli incursion in Gaza.
Stefan Kapitany ,   Suthfield, MI USA   (07.02.06)
Everyone knows that the Hamas led goverment is a sham. They are bent on distruction of Israel by all means possible and can't be trusted. For peace talks you need real partners who are willing to take bold and responsible steps not empty promisses. Israel showed its willingness many times to make hard concessions if a real partner for peace talks can be found. The answer was Intifada. It would take real leaders in the arab world, wich missing so far, who have the courage to influence the peaceful outcome. As long as the arab world is using a double standard and speaks out of both sides of their mouths there will never be peace in the middle east to my deepest regret.
