1. Hello Arabs-
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.02.06)
Sorry if this is what will happen, but you should have thought of this before you start up with the Jews. In the end, anyone who bothers the Jews gets punished severely, in ways far more painful than they inflict on us. That's just the way it is. Sorry.
2. This is where the Peace Now crowd has brought Israel
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.02.06)
The peace and surrender crowd, the appeasment and goodwill gesture crowd ,the Oslo Road Map crowd have brought Israel to the edge of great disaster. These stupid arrogant fool Jews assumed that the Msolems wanted peace with Israel and that rewarding them would bring peace now. Instead these fools only encouraged the Islamic terrorists with their weak and cowardly and suicidal acts. There is no turning back and even Giora Eiland warned the idiot Jewish leaders about the catastrophy they have brought to Israel by their insane plan's Eiland has an explanation for the repetition of this pattern of foreign policy failure: It is because Israel has no organized strategic management method. There's no system, he says. There is no critical examination of fundamental assumptions. There is no systematic definition of goals and targets. There is too much reliance on intuition. There is a strong tendency toward improvisation and instant solutions. There is no attempt at beginning-to-end planning. The opposite is true: There is great pressure to reach the finish line quickly without wasting precious time on forethought. And the result? A questionable decision-making process with regard to the definition of the disengagement. A complete lack of decision-making with regard to the declarations on the convergence. A serious foreign policy failure vis-a-vis Iran's nuclear program. The Hamas election surprise and a refusal to confront its significance. A country that is run like a shtetl, not a state. A country where every medium-sized company is managed more responsibly than the state itself. The conclusion is clear: The basic law of the Israeli-Palestinian jungle is that an Israeli withdrawal does not diminish the conflict, but instead exacerbates it. Since any Israeli withdrawal is interpreted by the Palestinians as surrender, it increases their appetite to obtain additional surrenders. The result is not stability, but violence, which under the conditions of the end of the occupation, is liable to become extreme. Eiland is not the first to voice criticism along these lines. He was preceded by Ephraim Levy. He was preceded by Uzi Dayan. They were preceded by most of the important people who preceded them on the command bridge of the Israeli ship of state. But these are not normal times. The decisions that Israel must make in the course of the next year are not ordinary. They are fateful decisions, unlike any that Israel has taken since the decision concerning the Dimona nuclear facility half a century ago. Therefore, this time the harsh comments of the outgoing head of the NSC must not be ignored. His remarks must be taken seriously. They deserve public debate. They must be examined and they must lead to a plan of action. Ehud Olmert and his chief of staff Yoram Turbowicz have permitted a very important public servant to resign. That's their right. But the parting words of this principled public servant must not be ignored. Eiland leaves behind him a challenge to the ruling ideological paradigm. He leaves behind him a series of warnings about the future. But above all, Eiland has commanded us to think. For their sake and for all of our sake, Olmert and Turbowicz must take on that command. The command to think now, to think before it is too late.
3. Let's get real
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (07.02.06)
If Israel is serious about protecting its citizens from Qassams, it will have to raze Beit Hanoun. Nothing else has worked. And if Palestinians start firing them from another place, it will be razed then too. Eventually they'll run out of launching sites.

Here are the facts on the ground: June 30th 2006 IDF SPOKESPERSON AND COORDINATER OF GOVERNMENT ACTIVITIES IN THE TERRITORIES ANNOUNCEMENT Clarification regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza The Israeli defense establishment monitors the supply reserves in the Gaza Strip based on supplies entering Gaza through the various crossings. The data available shows that the current inventory of basic goods in the Gaza Strip is in ample supply. For example the flour supply in Gaza is expected to last over a month. The current estimated amount of fuel available at gas stations throughout Gaza stands at 1,300,000 liters. Israel continues to supply the majority of electricity to the Gaza Strip and in light of the current situation has increased the amount of electricity it supplies. Israel will continue to closely monitor the economic and humanitarian situation in Gaza and will work to transfer essential goods and fuel into Gaza in the coming days based on Palestinian demand and with the aim of preventing future shortages. The IDF will continue to operate in a cautious and measured manner to reduce the risk of harming the Palestinian civilian population and will work to minimize the disruption of the flow of essential goods to the Gaza Strip. At the same time the IDF will continue with its ongoing operation to secure the quick and safe release of Cpl. Gilad Shalit and targeting terror cells and terrorist infrastructure.
6. Israel should reconsider
Kate ,   London, UK   (07.02.06)
Ray Hanania will be so very upset, I do think that Israel should reconsider rooting out the terrorists in Gaza.
7. UN recognises Beit Hanoun as terror base
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (07.02.06)
The UN relief representative Mr Nordahl says that the Israeli army may want to occupy Beit Hanoun "because it wants to stop the rockets being fired from there". So naturally Mr Nordahl has condemned the firing of rockets in the strongest possible terms...............hasn't he?............I know the article didn't say so, but surely.............?

They fired at him and hit him with several bullets to the chest that killed him. In addition, two bystanders were injured, one of them a child. 11. UN doesn't care about Pali Terror 2nd part
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (07.02.06)
At approximately 12:30 on Saturday, 1 July 2006, a clan clash erupted between the Foujo and El-Arja clans in the Amer Housing Project in the eastern part of Rafah. The clash escalated and weapons were used. Four men were injured: - Sa'di Mohammad Foujo (21) was hit by two bullets to the right leg; - Mohammad Awad Foujo (60) was hit by a sharp object to the head; - Mo'een Ahmad El-Arja (22) was hit all over the body with a sharp object; and - Yaser Ahmad El-Arja (30) was hit all over the body with a sharp object. The first two men were taken to the European Hospital for treatment and the other two were taken to Mohammad Yousef El-Najjar Hospital for treatment. All the injuries were listed as moderate. PCHR is concerned about the continuation of internal violence, including the use of weapons in personal and clan disputes, which perpetuates the current state of security chaos in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Centre calls upon the PNA, represented by the Attorney-General, to investigate these attacks and to bring the perpetrators to justice. 18. Retaking Gaza a lousy idea-even more soldiers will be killed
Karen R ,   USA   (07.03.06)
As Mr. Peretz has pointed out, sending IDF soldiers running around refugee camp allies is not a good idea. There would be lots and lots of Israeli casualties. Go ask the US army what it's like running around in Iraq with IED booby traps for vehicles, snipers, suicide bombers, etc. And it wouldn't make any difference for the Qassams - they're cheap, quick to make and easy to fire. Also hard to prevent. Oh, and it would make it really, really easy for terrorists to kidnap more soldiers. For those advocating retaking Gaza - whatever you do, don't ever take up chess - you've got no strategic smarts at all.
19. hello Israeli supporters
freespeechlover ,   Wichita, USA   (07.03.06)
it would be a shame if the kidnapped Israeli soldier ends up dead thanks to the overreaction of the Israeli military. That's just the way it is. In the end, I am not intimidated by Reuven Brauner. Sorry.
