1. Jews for Jesus
Yaakov ,   Melbourne Australia   (07.03.06)
How dare you allow these ass wipes to advertise their propaganda on your website. For 2000 years Christianity tried to force Jews to convert often by violent means. The Shoah was only possible because of anti-semitic propaganda fed by the church. JFJ may be trying to achieve the same goal with less violence, but their goals are no less insidious
2. FJC: Stick Your Head In The Sand & Say You Love It
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.03.06)
"The leaflet warns Jews to avoid engaging in spiritual conversations 'because they are experts and will prove to you that the Torah's teachings are manipulative.' " Wholesale acknowledgement that Jews don't have the answers. For anyone courageous enough to pull their head out of the sand and take the red pill, to put in the study to learn how to deal with pseudo-Messianic idolatry, the answers are in the Netzarim website (URL below). Everyone else deserves their fate. Advocating Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming non-Jews www.netzarim.co.il
3. Disgusting
Lloyd Schroeder ,   london   (07.03.06)
these missionaries are full of falsness and lies - they have unfortunatly managed to convert many Jews already. cant they just leave us alone? there sect wouldnt exist if it werent for us Jews...GO AWAY AND LEAVE US BE. may the J4J be in internal suffering.
4. if you need professional missionaries...
aaron ,   ra'anana   (07.03.06)
then your religion really is weak, dude... let's face it: all MAJOR religions - are just CULTS which have gone BIG TIME :)
5. Who cares?
(07.03.06)
6. Fear of missionaries
Drs. Dorothea Killus ,   Loerrach, Germany   (07.03.06)
It is moving and saddening to read of such a fear of those Jewish brothers and sisters who have found to true Judaism - through responding to the unique offer the Most High has for the deepest needs of mankind - Jew or Gentile. Would it not be wise to examine with an upright heart the claims of Jesus of Nazareth in the light of the Torah and the Prophets presented by those who are far from being a sect, and trust the Holy Spirit to give his loving enlightenment about the matter?
7. THEY TARGET THE WEAK LINK
HaDaR ,   Israel   (07.03.06)
THEY TARGET THE WEAK LINK... since generally speaking, Jews who leave Israel are mostly secular with little or no knowledge of Torah.
8. They are in for a surprise
moishe ,   Israel   (07.03.06)
Those poor missionaries are in for the surprise of their life time. They have never experienced what is called a "chapsum"which is yiddish for "grab them" They better prepare themseves for the afterlife. Such activity is not tolerated by hareidim. They forget how many times apts. in meah shearim were set on fire, how many beatings missionaries receive etc. My advice to them is to go missionize the muslims in ramallah or the aboriginies in australia or even the eskimos in alaska. I have seen their CD and the yiddish is very poor, it can not pass as authentic and what a farce their fictional dead man on a stick was an ignoramous who could barely speak hebrew according to their fable he spoke in aramaic, so how could he speak yiddish which was not yet invented? The harder they try the bigger fools they make of themselves and the more they endager themselves. Perhaps they should try missionizing the homosexuals lesbians and transgendered.
9. Just say No
Shomera ,   London   (07.03.06)
Knowledgeable persons in the targeted communities should ensure that their adults and kids have a thorough knowledge of how to ably resist these missionaries. Those from the former Soviet Union are particulary at risk because of their lack of basic Jewish education. Knowledge is power. Outreach Judaism has a good site and explains well why Yeshua is not and will not be Moschiach. www.outreachjudaism.org
10. Sect?
John ,   Jerusalem   (07.03.06)
Could the author have called it a sect a few more times. Is that an officially acceptable term to use in a news article, or is this the author's personal opinion?
11. #9 - Messiach, please
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (07.03.06)
Israel adopted Sephardic Hebrew long ago. I like Yiddish a lot, but I prefer the Hebrew spoken here, not in Brooklyn and Golders Green. Regarding missionaries: I like to think that Judaism can stand against them.
12. Fear of missionaries? - #6
Kate ,   London, UK   (07.03.06)
Fear of missionaries? No, hatred of everything they represent. Do you think we can forget the almost 2,000 years of persecution carried out by Christians in the name of Christianity? Do you think we do not remember that the Nazis could never have achieved what they did without the almost total and joyful collaboration of Christian Europe? I would far rather die than convert to your religion. What really takes my breath away is that a German of all people is supporting this attempt at destroying the Jewish people.
13. Moishe # 8
Chris ,   Warsaw, Poland   (07.03.06)
Dear Sir, you wrote "their fictional dead man on a stick" about Jesus. Does your religion teach that it is OK to insult other people's religions?

New York: Missionaries storming Israelis Messianic Jewish sect launches campaign to convert New York Jews,
15. Moishe, no need to insult Xians
Yosef ,   NY, USA   (07.03.06)
I never had much of a problem with any of the vast majority of NYC Christians who are sane, very secular and not interested in the bother it would be to convert Jews to switching to their favorite doctor let alone to their church... so there is no need to insult their beliefs. It is these deluded schizos in the Jews for Jesus that you should save your words for. The Jews for Jesus endless contradictions and their predatory tactics give us plenty of reasons to deal with them.
16. Target the weak link
Marlene ,   Israel   (07.03.06)
Just say NO AND PLEASE LEAVE
17. Last time they tried to push there info on ...
Brooklyn Boy   (07.03.06)
my friends and I we beat them to a pulp! They live in some fantasy land! To all jews in new york...they hang out mostly in union square(14th street).
18. To # 14
N B Shalom ,   USA   (07.03.06)
I don’t know who you refering to whether the Rebbe himself or his Chasidim But take a moment and look in Yoreh Daiah 243 seif 6 It is a great sin to embarass Talmidai Chachomim or to hate them and any one who embarasses Talmidai Chachomim he has no portion in Olam Habah Simiolairly in rambam Hilchos Talmud Torah Perek 6. Anyway Tzadik speak to your Rosh Hayeshivah ask him for a tikun. It would be well advised if you get of the web and start learning the ChofetzChaims Shmiras Haloshon.
19. Chris from Warsaw - #13
Kate ,   London, UK   (07.03.06)
"Does your religion teach that it is OK to insult other people's religions? " No, but your Catholic church in Poland taught that it was quite OK for Christians to persecute and kill Jews for many centuries.
20. JFJ is not a sect, it is a missionary organization
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (07.03.06)
JFJ workers are from all of the various christian denominations: presbyterian, methodist, anglican, baptist, assemblies of god, and so forth - their website says so. ynet where's your journalistic integrity to report to us the facts?
21. 17 what if someone beat you up because of what you believe?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (07.03.06)
would you cry 'antisemitism'? or is it ok to cause harm to those who believe differently than you? after reading your comment i hope that you're not hypocritical enough to complain about palestinian incitement to violence.
22. UNLIKE Torah, Too Many Jews Are Hate-mongers
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.03.06)
This conflict is between idolaters and hate-mongers - between dumber and dumbest. Those who are confident that they have right and logic on their side argue right and logic. Somebody might even learn something. Only those who fear they're wrong have to resort to pounding tables, seething over with hatred, slandering and propagandizing gratuitously, eager for violence, fearing intelligent debate and, most of all, fearing documentation and truth. Hate-mongers, guilty of deliberate khilul ha-Sheim, are worse than the ignorant pseudo-Messianic Christian missionaries they smugly loathe. That's why the pseudo-Messianics continue to open new "synagogues" while superstitious and medievalist proponents of East European assimilation continue to close "graying" ones. Educated Jews tend to discover that Mosheh and Hillel didn't speak pigeon-German either. Christian missionaries expose the incompetent arguments of all Jewish anti-missionaries with such ease that your leaders can only tell you to bury your head in the sand. Rampaging incompetence! There are answers but you'll have to deal intelligently with some inconvenient facts rather than thinking you can conceal them without Christians exposing them and waving them at you. 23. Settle down, kids
George W ,   Chicago IL   (07.03.06)
Jews for Jesus stories are always good for a few laughs. Not only because the organization itself is pretty silly but because of the froth at the mouth replies that show up on talkbacks. (Moishe and Brooklyn Boy, remember to take your medication before you talk next time.) Missionaries throughout history have behaved pretty ugly, with their inquisitions, smallpox blankets, withholding medicine until you convert, etc. But the missionaries in the US are pretty tame. Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Jews for Jesus etc. have very few weapons in their arsenal other than bugging you at the subway station. No need to start a religious war. By the way Yaakov, nice job comparing a few annoying missionaries bugging you at the subway station with the Holocaust. If a Jew for Jesus cuts you off in traffic, is that comparable to the expulsion of the Jews from Amsterdam, or maybe is it more like the massacres in Riga? I always hear from Jews that the Holocaust is never to be trivialized. I guess Yaakov didn't get that memo.
24. yeshua
augustine johnson ,   alabama , usa   (07.03.06)
i find the jews for jesus presentations of isaiah 53 and daniels seventy weeks prophecy in daniel 9 very difficult to get around --- maybe jews should reconsider the long rejected yeshua of israel shalom =========augustine johnson
25. Proselytizing the Jews
Avital ,   Haifa   (07.03.06)
While there is not much we can do to prevent Jews in America and elsewhere in the diaspora from being the targets of organizations such as Jews for Jesus, Scientology and (so-called) Kabbalah, it is extremely unfortunate that Jews in Israel are incessantly proselytized by these same groups - openly and with no interference by the government.
26. Jews for Jesus
Connie ,   USA   (07.03.06)
Let me say this before I read anymore. The first sentence got my attention, to say the least. The wording suggests that the "Jews For Jewish" are a cult. You used the four lettered word that also ends with the letter T, ie.sect . Now I'll go finish the story.
27. JFJ missionaries
Connie ,   USA   (07.03.06)
It's still astounding after all these hundreds of years that it is still debated if Jesus is the Messiah.Where do you think the nation of Isreal came from? Jesus was a jew.He was divine and man. When He was here on earth, one of the terms used was Son of Man. "Do not think that came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not to destroy but to fulfill. (Matthew 5:17)
28. Kind answer to worried Nr. 12
Dorothea Killus ,   Loerrach, Germany   (07.03.06)
Thank you for exposing your pain - which I share wholeheartedly. Any attempt to destroy the Jewish people is, for my theology, of Satanic origin. You may, by the way, keep your breath: I am not of German origin but live here as a victim of the Nazi ideology.
29. quite OK for Christians to persecute and kill Jews for many
(07.03.06)
still today ask Radio Maria
30. Bad Hasbara even for Messianism??
Ami Isseroff ,   Rehovot Israel   (07.03.06)
IDF defensive doctrine is always to carry the war to the territory of the enemy. Or "the best defense is a good offence." Why aren't different Jewish groups targeting these Messianic people to bring them back to Judaism? It is not even proselytization, since they claim they are Jewish. Cults are based on social and psychological needs, not on logic of course. Why not start an outreach mission designed to attract these people? (or several - with reform, reconstructionist, orthodox, consrervative and humanistic flavors). The leaflet says: "The leaflet warns Jews to avoid engaging in spiritual conversations "because they are experts and will prove to you that the Torah's teachings are manipulative."" Why isn't someone instead preparing materials that can be used to counter these people? It is not so hard. They got some indoctrination that is not too deep - like Encylopedia salesmen. When they finish their spiel they usually have nothing to say. My mother used to run Jehovah's witnesses into the ground, just by finishing their biblical quotes and showing how they are taken out of context. If they can "prove" that the Torah's teachings are "manipulative" someone should be preparing the counterproofs, and make sure they are available to our people. Is Jewish education so faulty and weak that we cannot even trust people to answer these cultists? For non-spiritual types like me it is enough to say "Look, virgins don't give birth" and to show them that the passage in Isaiah was mistranslated and taken out of context, and to show them that Jesus said "For I know that salvation is only of the Jews." Jesus taught that not one jot or tittle should be taken from the law. Maybe Habad people should be encouraging Messianic Jews to get Christians to observe Jewish customs. LOL. At least, the leaflets should provide people with basic information.
