1. Do not hire those discharged female soldiers!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.06.06)
They only give a couple of years of their lives to protect us.We owe them nothing. That is why one of our biggest exports is the youth of this country.Give the best years of your lives and get nothing! This country rewards people who do not give.I understand why our children leave here for other countries and I realize they are right. We are so wrong to not repay them at all costs.Even learning a trade and getting a job.
2. Amish Community
RW ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.06)
Funny... I bet if there was an Amish community in Israel, you, Jason, would have no problem with them not serving in the army because of their religious beliefs. When it comes to Jews however...
3. If you do and if you don't
Aviela ,   Kochav Yaakov Israel   (07.07.06)
I just don't understand why some folks'll kick 'em if they do work and kick 'em if they don't work. Nothing will make you happy because you'd rather not be happy. As a second note, if the similar plant in Modi'in is to be of any example, they pay half (or less) than the going rate for the same work in seuclar society. Shame on such practices!

What the hell would the amish do here? I do not want the arabs that do not serve in the army here either. If someone cannot serve, they do not deserve anything. There is not religous belief that says do not defend yor people and your country. On the contrary we are told that saving a life is more important than any other mitzvah. Let us give only to the people who gave so much to this country.
5. To #1: haredi women serve more than IDF
Sarah   (07.07.06)
They are the first line of defense against the "demographic threat," having the babies that the hiloni females don't want.

Where in the article does it say that female IDF veterans who apply for these jobs are being turned away? On the contrary a secular woman would rather work somewhere she is paid a decent salary! The women here are being paid much lower than secular workers--that is the outrage. You seem to have a problem, you complain that the haredim do not work and then you complain that they do work.

Where does it say they are being paid salaries that are much lower than secular workers.I have a haredi friend and he makes about four times my salary in I.B.M. plus a car.I get the minimum wage and work about 270 hours per month. As for salaries,it is the level of education, the need for that type of labor and experience that sets the salary level. And yes secular girls are turned away from work.My daughter spent eight months looking for work before she decided to work and study in the U.S.This was after her two years of army service! The first people who should receive employment are those that finish the army and no one else. Why don't you come over and serve in the army? You will change your mind afterwards.

"there is not religous belief that says do not defend yor people and your country." For women, it's assur across the board. And don't forget, the Chareidim were here WAY before you....

You asked: Why don't I come over and serve in the army? Well for one thing I am over 50 years old. I have 8 kids and 12 grandkids. I don't think they would want me in the army. My son did go over and serve a tour in the Nahal Haredi.

The army doesn't want me since I'm too old... does that mean I'm not allowed to work? But then if I'm not working, you'll complain that I'm being a parasite! And if I do work, I'm stealing jobs! So, Jason... what should I do?

lets get real please. most of the girls that are in the army do close to nothing. most haredi girls are either married or in school, both an automatic exemptment from the idf. and also the haredi girls aren't physically strong enough to pass even 02 training. the girls going out of the army wouldn't work for these wages and are going to college to learn real trades. besides if you want haredim to pay taxes this is the best way to do it.
