1. Gay Parade
Repent   (07.07.06)
An Un holy thing in God's own Country
2. great!
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.06)
I'm a secular Jew and oppose this offense to public morals and this trampling on the perceptions of children. I wish more people opposed it in Tel Aviv too, but I also wish horses had wings.
3. Not Good Enough
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.07.06)
This shouldn't happen in Israel at all. Hopefully the pressure will mount in Tel Aviv as well.
4. #1,2 and the ministers

pathetic hypocrites!
5. Its noy Gay people they hate - its the leather and aids

6. moving the parade is a slap in the face for us all
Avi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.07.06)
The abandoning of our gay brothers and sisters by ordinary people in Jerusalem to the hysterical ranting of the so called religious will come back to haunt us all. In our free society, sexual preferences are no one's business, least of all the corrupt religious establishment and their blind followers. If people are homosexual, that is their choice and we must accept them as such. Although none of us are homosexual, our family is planning to join the march as a mark of solidarity. I call on all other residents of Jerusalem who value living in a multifaceted varied city to join us. We must reject the ravings of the so called religious, so called leaders. They have demonstrated in favour of a man who murdered his child and they have rioted in support of various corrupt leaders of their communities. Enough already. This city, Jerusalem, this people, the Jews and this Torah belongs to us too. It is not the private property of men in long black beards and big black hats (or knitted kippot).
7. Change venue to Sedom & Gomorrah
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.07.06)
Nothing changes with the human species ,we never learn .The one who created life has instituted laws for life which are immutable, unchangeable. As G-d patience wore out then so today it does also.
8. Let's agree...
Takan ,   Elat   (07.07.06)
That Jerusalem is a religious center and that the parade should not take place by respect to its residents. But then, no religious parade should happen in Tel Aviv or other secular places. If religious are being exclusifs, then they should keep their parade in their own neighbourhood then. Sounds like a stupid idea but I am only following the "logic" of these extremists (mulsim or jew, extremes are so much alike).
9. Shame on YOU who opposed it!
Euriel ,   Budapest, Hungary   (07.07.06)
I think Israel isn't more a "single island of democracy" in the Middle East if Gay people are not allowed to express their wish to be treaten as equal citizens in the capital of the State. As I heared it would have been a very modest demonstration and not an obscene sex scene through the holy city. So SHAME on YOU, religious fundamentalists!Let's give Jerusalem to the Muslims, NOW you seem to be equal with them in all senses. Do you want to have an Iran style fundamentalist state? If so, just do it! You will loose your "eternal" capital!

J K ,   NYC, USA   (07.07.06)
"In our free society, sexual preferences are no one's business" Aha, correct!! However, a parade such as this sort of thrusts these preferences in everyones face as it can only be construed as a public display, making it everyones business. I have never seen a parade with peoples 'straightness' being thust into everyones face as the main point of celebration with "Hey, I have sex with women" being the banner. Come on. If someone's gay they're gay. I can't change that and they claim they can't either. Fine. But there is no need to have a parade about it, much less in a city with so much historical and present day sanctity. What else could it be but a provocation, even despite their alleged best intentions?
11. people think in simplistic black and white categories
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.06)
I also would oppose a "heter" parade in which male and female lovers parade down the street in broad daylight wearing underwear and making out. Being "open" doesn't mean you have to be so open that your mind flies out the window. It is possible not to believe in every jot of Jewish or other orthodoxy and still understand what's wrong with this.
12. # 2 Horses have wings
Yakov Shani ,   Israel   (07.07.06)
ask any self respecting muslim and he will tell you how Mohammad ascended to heaven on a winged steed, from of all places, the temple mount. All Muslims also worship a big black stone. I am not a great fan of gays, but they are human beings, did not ask to be born, have rights the same as you and I, and are certainly worthy of more consideration than those who do and believe in the other two things mentioned here. They are human, stones and winged horses are inhuman, inanimate, mythical. Large crowds gather to signify these "events" and this "stone". People are not allowed to gather and signify the fact that they are different and proud. I admit to having a conflict.
13. To #6

"The abandoning of our gay brothers and sisters " They are not my brothers and sisters.
14. Parad will be moved to Ramat Aviv Mall
Josh ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.06)
It will be in Ramat Aviv. Rejoice!
15. #6 Moving the Parade
H ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.06)
People are born with an evil inclination. Unfortunately, these sick people have not worked on theirs. If, G-d forbid, the parade will come to pass anywhere in Israel, that "will haunt us all". The only city in Israel such a parade may take place, is in Sodom. Three years ago was the first of this sick parade, after which Hamas came to power. Don't tell me one has nothing to do with the other. It does. As obviously you're not learned enough, you should discuss this issue with an orthodox Rabbi or Mekubal and you'll see how it's connected. Btw, it's not the religious who are corrupt - it's the left-wing liberals(worldwide) who are completely blindfolded to anything sane. That child was not murdered by his father. Only a corrupt person would believe so. Read the news again and you'll see. And as if there are no such stories (probably daily) among the left. But of course, the left media will not blow it out of proportion as it does if something might be going wrong among the religious. Behaviors you see in schools and otherwise among the left, can hardly ever be found among the religious. According to your love of every sick person or sinner, perhaps we should have a "pride" parade of robbers and thieves? Aren't they "ordingary people" too?
16. Tolerance
Lisa ,   NY, U.S.A.   (07.07.06)
One thing Israel needs to work on is tolerance! Respect one another's differences and recognize what it really means to be a "good" person. I suspect that a Catholic pride parade would bring as much criticism in a country with such little tolerance for others who do not fit the mold.
17. # 10 you miss the point, as a minority in New York
Avi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.07.06)
I think the point is that there are a lot of homosexuals out there who are being terrorized by their communities. The Gay pride parade shows them that there are others too who are of the same inclination and it is nothing to be ashamed of, indeed it is something of which to be proud. At the risk of annoying people (what else are these talkbacks for?) this is exactly analogous to the status of the Jews, especially those living as a minority outside Israel. If I am not mistaken, you Jews of New York have an annual parade for Israel. It is not for Israel, it is for you as Jews to feel proud and hold your heads high. Nothing wrong with that. Not so many years ago we Jews were a reviled and hated nation. See how things have changed. People look on us as almost human.
18. Congratulations
Ragusa   (07.07.06)
on once again displaying Israel to the world in this way. Any country can run its rule as it chooses, but please do not ever again express the illusion of Israel as the only democracy in M.E., as the land of superior moral or as a non-racist country. You have lost that right.
19. # 13 - yes they are. Shabbat Shalom
Avi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.07.06)
20. #15 denial will not help you
Avi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.07.06)
Human beings can be complete bits of s**t. Observing external religious forms does not change this. A mensch is a mench. Wearing a big black hat or having a long beard does not turn you into a mensch. Open your eyes and see the disgusting behavoir around you. No one is exempt and until now no one has has a magic solution. Especially not the orthodox Rabbis or mekubalim. Even if you are a woman. Shabbat Shalom
21. #16 , i live in nyc too, can we have some tolerance party to
r ,   nyc   (07.07.06)
22. #16
RW ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.06)
"One thing Israel needs to work on is tolerance! Respect one another's differences and recognize what it really means to be a "good" person." You're right! Unfortunately, the Pride Parade was not tolerent to the majority of Jerusalem's citizens by coming here. They were doing this to provoke everybody. Perhaps, they should learn a little more about tolerence.
23. Just one more Example
Mike ,   Israel   (07.07.06)
Just one more example on how the haradies efect our lifes. I'm not gay neither am i anit haradie, but the bulling around by the hardie is discusting, they think they are better than all of us, they think they are above the law, they are ante democracy. They had a chance to prove to the world that they are tolerant but once again they should how rude and ignorant they are. Shame on you Haradeims
24. #3 David
Mike ,   Israel   (07.07.06)
If you dont like it David you could always leave. Who do you think you are telling people what or who they should do in life. Is your way of life correct to me or the gays? i think not. So maybee you should be the one that shouldnt happen in Israel, hopefully the presure will mount in Israel and people like you will leave.
25. The pope wants you in Rome.

26. Keep gayness OUT OF JERUSALEM
Jim Shentz ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.07.06)
Stop offending us with your deviant lifestyle. Go march in damascus or tehran.
27. No 17 - Silly comparison
Adam ,   NYC   (07.07.06)
Comparing the NY Israel Day to the planned homosexual parade in Jerusalem is nonsense. The homosexual parades have a history of ostentatious obscenity and most vulgar exphibitionism. Who has seen that in an Israel Day Parade or any other national or ethnic or religious parade? Indeed, the whole idea of the homosexual parade has nothing to do with rights or tolerance -- which they already have. It is not "pride" but flaunting.
28. #24 - Comfortable Where I'm At.
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.07.06)
Mike, people like me are breeding people like you into the dustbin of history. I don't have to go anywhere, or tell anyone to do anything, to see the Torah and our traditional values and beliefs prevail. Time and demographics march ever onward and the traditional and religious are having more children than "people like you" [and the arabs, incidentally]. We've got a population bulge coming down the pipe that will blow you away. Its already started to show. At the same time, I don't have sit quietly and watch with feigned approval when people decide to push an abberation they know will offend into the public square while insisting I have to - even tacitly - approve of it. If they want to commit homosexual acts in private that's their business, but when they bring it into the public square they make it my business - especially when they do it in tandem with an agenda aimed at normalizing aberrant behavior and forcing society to change its morays for their benefit. This is a state of Jews that is ever inching towards becoming a Jewish State. All I have to do is wait. Time and demographics are on my side. In the short term, however, I will continue to speak my mind with little concern and no regrets in relation to whether you like it or not.

30. here's a question for everyone
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.06)
You get reincarnated, and your parents die in an accident when you're a few weeks old, so you're up for adoption. You could be adopted by a married man-woman couple, or a married same-sex couple. What's your preference, if any?
