1. Rebuilding a lost deterrence
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.08.06)
It takes much time and war effort to put the fear of Israel back in the hearts of those who lost five wars against Israel in the past. THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN AND MUST BE REMINDED AGAIN. Olmert is still way too timid and limited because of his fearful nature of world opinion, hopefully this will not lead to retreat..again. Will Israel wake up and end the continued tearing down of their deterrence by suicidal acts of stupidity to an unmerciful and without compassion enemy whose sole purpose in life is killing Jews and working day and night to destroy Israel. It is good for Hamas led Palestinians to be in fear for their lives. and Israel must not allow outside pressure to stop it's rebuilding of deterrence efforts. The enemies of Israel around the world always come to the rescue of the Palestinians as does Peace Now and other fifth column groups behind the green line. End the Lefts preoccupation with removing Israel's much needed deterrence. BRAVO to you Major-General Yoav Galant !!!
2. Do What Must Be Done, Do Not Hesitate, Show No Mercy
(07.08.06)
Baruch Hashem Am Yisrael Chai!!!
3. hundreds of dead terrorists
paul ,   tel aviv   (07.08.06)
there are thousands of terrorists in gaza. he should be talking about thousands of dead terrorists if this operation is going to make any difference for Israel's security in the future.
4. Why cease fire?
Cynic ,   USA   (07.08.06)
Hamas wants a cease fire so they can claim they repelled the IDF, and then prepare their next murderous act.
5. "they'll be counting hundreds of dead terrorists"
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (07.08.06)
Maybe, but surely we know by now that there is an inexhaustible supply of terrorists. We also know that Israel cannot stay in Gaza for any great length of time. It has recently been stated that Israel's actions are enough to make the Palestinians even more hostile, but not sufficiently severe to create real deterrence, and I think this comment is correct. Meanwhile the EU and UN predictably and absurdly say that Israel is using disproportionate - meaning too much - force. There can be no solution until the international community stops supporting the terrorists and makes it clear to the Palestinians that the total and permanent cessation of terrorism is essential.
6. #2 I make your words mine words as well !
keren ,   sao paulo   (07.08.06)
And I pray deeply for Israel to start running firmly in the right path towards a definitive solution for Peace in Israel and our People.
7. no. 2 this is not star wars-but you did make me laugh.

may the force be with you.
8. Ready for months long operation???
free palestine   (07.08.06)
That's what they wanted in the first place. And what about the soldier? Nobody talks about him anymore. It's all about killing Palestinians. Admit it Israel.
9. no 8
ea ,   mel aus   (07.09.06)
what palestine ther is no palestinin nation
10. major general galant
dave s. ,   Novato, CA   (07.09.06)
The general has it correct, in that Israel should continue rapid in-and-out deployment to destroy infrastructure and kill terrorists. Avoid getting bogged down in re-occupation, instead use commando tactics. Do not expect peace to follow; do not even think about Europeans or the UN's point of view. Events happen on the ground, period. Also, a time limit should never be mentioned in the press. Commando raid tactics forever, or at least another 20 years.
11. #8 free ARABS LIVING ON HEBREW LAND
DACON9   (07.09.06)

12. Major-General Yoav Galant
Mary Wise ,   Oregon, USA   (07.09.06)
He is very gallant. Git er done.
13. Really #8? Who killed Jewish teen kid-
Lynn ,   USA   (07.09.06)
napped in Jerusalem of all places? Who has been firing rockets into Sderot and Ashkelon? Who started this? The Israeli Jewry has bent over backwards again and again to have peace, but whoever fights against the Jews fights against G-d.
14. Palestinian's life not yet hard enough.
Chuck ,   New Jersey   (07.09.06)
Only when the terrorists are not allowed to blend in with the overall population will they learn a lesson. They enjoy the support of the palestinian population, and therefore no immune to attack. Afterall, this is the calculus they use tin justifiying attacks on innocent civilians everywhere. Isreal must destroy entire population centers for this message to be received, come what may.
