1. Hypothetical Moral Dilemma
Eric   (07.10.06)
Let's say that Israel successfully deploys a high-energy laser system that can destroy Qassam missiles in flight. When the system detects that a Qassam will not land on the Israeli side of the Gazan border, it does not activate. One day, the Arabs fire an "errant" Qassam the laser system determines that it will not reach Israel, therefore it does not act to destroy the missile. The missile in fact lands on a house in Bet Hanoun, killing 3 Arab children sleeping in their beds. Question: Is Israel culpable because it did not destroy the missile?
2. Palestinian girl hurt by Palestinian rocket
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (07.10.06)
They don't mind injuring or killing their own children (as we've seen before), the only surprise is that this news comes from "Palestinian sources". Usually such incidents are blamed on Israel.
3. #1 eric
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.10.06)
What stupid nonsense. Do you stay awake at night finding ways to divert responsibility away from those who fire Kassem's at Israel ? The armies of Islam are trying to destroy Israel and you come up with some stupid hypothetical nonsense to point the finger of blame at Israel. What is moral about war.Nothing ! If the fools on the left try and fight a moral war ,Israel loses . And your stupid question is geared to this mindset. What about keeping the steady focus of blame on those who make war against Israel you moron !!!
4. When Female Muslim Dies, Do They Get 72 Virgin Men?
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (07.10.06)
5. proof the biggest murderers of Palestineans are Hamas
NAAMZ ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.10.06)
Keep up the Qassams, Hamas and there won't be any Palestineans in Gaza anymore. Love your own people before you hate the Israelis. If this happened in Israel, there would be a thourough investigation and a national scandal. If this happens in Gaza, then Hamas goes off and blames Israel, the usual. Careful Hamas, your thick web of lies is nearing its end; as is your wretched terrorist movement!
6. Palestinian CHILD ABUSE
John ,   Tel-Aviv   (07.10.06)
This tragic story reminds me: Where is the international condemnation of Palestinians for child abuse? They deny their children the right to a good education; where martydom is the main aim, and their heroes are not David Beckham and Yossi Benayoun, but suicide bombers.
7. Eriic's Moral Dilemma
John ,   Tel-Aviv   (07.10.06)
Absolutely not. "He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from opposition; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself." - Thomas Paine The IDF is obliged to protect Israel and Israelis. None other. As it happens, it would be wise to assist a friendly nations (i.e. Jordan) if attacked by a mutual enemy (i.e. Syria) - mostly because your friend's enemy will soon come for you. As with all issues, you should never protect people from their own evil. How else would they - i.e. the Pal people - learn??
8. Oy ve one of their usual work accidents
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (07.10.06)
9. Arab press ?
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (07.10.06)
Anyone want to bet the Arab press will not show pictures of the injured child?
10. A new Arab crime against humanity
Francois ,   Paris   (07.10.06)
UN must spring into action and the Zeropean Union must condemn this awful crime ASAP.
11. Andno moral outrage from Sweden or the BBC?
Arie   (07.10.06)
12. No Ellen, Rustum, or Muslums in this talkback..
Jacob ,   DC   (07.10.06)
Where is the condemnation of this horrible act of brutaly maiming an innocent girl in an unprovoked act of aggression against the PA people? This once again shows, that not only do the terrorists not only hate jews, but more importantly, that these militant terrorists don't even care about their own fellow muslums. How, when, and at what price?
13. No problem. CNN, Al Jazeerah, MSNBC
Jenny   (07.10.06)
will run this all tonight as "Palestinian girl critically injured by errant ISRAELI SHELL." I can see it now. They love to blame Israel, wait for it.
14. Kassems are no toys
Daniel ,   Israel   (07.10.06)
This tragic child abuse shows that the Kassem rockets are not just "toys" like they are described in the international media
15. And THIS is what you Israelis have been crying about??
Khalid ,   Gaza City   (07.11.06)
An example of the type of "terror" that has been affecting Ashkelon and Sderot. These weapons are so primitive in nature that they went so far off track and hit a Palestinian girl, and so weak that she is mercifully only wounded. And THIS is one of your reasons for invading Gaza??? Wow. THIS is why you lined thousands of tanks along our border??? THIS is why you have blocked us from the outside world and bombarded us with F-16 fighter jets, Apaches, and frightened our children breathtaking sonic booms??? Because of these heavy peices of plastic that should barely be called weapons???! Extremely cowardly of you at the very least. A word to my Palestinian brothers: These qassams do nothing more but give Israel an excuse to carry out their agenda. Please see past this and do NOT continue with this counter-productive form of warfare. It doesn't harm them, and it harms us, 'nuff said.
16. 15 Khalid: Are you in fact one of the Americas that claim to
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (07.11.06)
be Palestinians - ???? Do you ever read the nonsense you post ? Do you ever ? Because if you really would be in Gaza .. how come your sit in front of a PC - instead of being busy trying to do something more needed - such as searching for a proper solution to STOP Hamas from destroying you totally If really you sit in Gaza ....... Sadly the electricity cuts have not yet shut down your computer In fact one has to start to believe that you Arabs - that give Gaza addresses - are in reality those who are also Americans - the run and cut lot - that only shouts from a safe Sofa !!!???
17. to gabrielle and khalid
bobby z   (07.11.06)
hey gabrielle, funny how khalid replies when all the american replies come in... where in America do you live Khalid???
18. 17 bobby z: Right exactly same I observed
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (07.11.06)
They are not itelligent enough to think we figure them out ?? You and I plus others can see it
19. To Khalid (nr . 15)
Leon ,   Grand Rapids U S A   (07.11.06)
Just like your AbAss, you confuse "excuse" with "reason". Sending in rockets RESULTS in self defense. Self defense is a reason.
20. Gabrielle, come to Gaza and see me.
Khalid ,   Gaza City   (07.11.06)
"Because if you really would be in Gaza .. how come your sit in front of a PC - instead of being busy trying to do something more needed - such as searching for a proper solution to STOP Hamas from destroying you totally" Excuse me? Do you want me to run out in the streets screaming for Hamas members to come to my door? It doesn't work that way Gabrielle, I'm a civillian, I can't arrange meetings with politicians at will. That was a weird request from you. "If really you sit in Gaza ....... Sadly the electricity cuts have not yet shut down your computer " Something called a GENERATOR! have you ever heard of them? They keep power on when Israel knocks it out. Great invention they are. I am in Gaza City, few miles up from the beach, behind the Azhar University. You want proof? I can e-mail you pictures. Now stop your non-sense from Geneva and let people who actually live in the Holy Land comment on the issues, we're the ones affected, NOT YOU!
21. Response to Khalid
Dan ,   Baltimore, USA   (07.11.06)
What appears to be a similar trend amongst Jihadist supporters, you seem to see only what you want to see, Khalid. The first line under the title says critically wounded. That means death imminent and is not the same as just wounded. You also say "we're the ones affected, NOT YOU!" and yet we are all affected. Do you really think that the 6 million jews lving in Israel do not have relatives or friends overseas? Your main argument against Israel is that your brethren are hitting them and they are hitting you back harder. Then you have the audacity to say this is a cowardly act. I will give you credit, though, in that you do ask your brethren to stop sending Qassams into Israel. A great man in my country once said, "An eye for an eye leaves us all blind" - Martin Luther King, Jr. Our peoples really need to start working past the anger and working towards the solution. You may say I am unaffected, but I have family in Israel just like you have family in Gaza. It hurts just as much to hear about my people being hurt as it does for you to hear about your people being hurt. So far, our anger and hurt has only fueled more anger and more hurt. Isn't it time for us to try something else? On both sides?
22. To Dan.
Khalid ,   Gaza City   (07.11.06)
Dan, you're completely correct. I agree. It's clear that what both sides have done up to now has not worked, and we should seek alternative ways. Well said.
23. 20 Khalid : Simply STOP your terror support
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (07.12.06)
without you people supporting and voting for Terrorism Terrorism would NOT survive It is Your poeple's problems No one else - and if you need to run your PC on generators - isn't it more appropriate to use power for more urgent matters - instead YOU shouting around on a Jewish Website ?! Odd way to find priorities Very odd
24. To Khalid and Gabrielle
Dan ,   Baltimore, USA   (07.12.06)
Gabrielle - see talkbacks 21 and 22; You should realize that the entire world can be accused of actions that fuel terrorism. Sadly, even my country has participated in acts that fuel terrorism. More importantly, you should be aware that an Israeli website that is open to different people's opinions is an excellent medium for opening closed minds. Ours and theirs. Thirdly, if you cannot continue your argument against someone without nitpicking on details insignicant to a conversation, such as the intelligence of using a generator to operate a computer, then you should reconsider what the purpose of your argument is really about. From my perspective, it looks like you are just trying to be insulting. If that is the case, do you really think being insulting is a good way to stop a fight? To Khalid, thank you. I know you are one person, but all good ideas start with one person and spread from there. I thank you for listening and I hope that together we can change our worlds. =o)
