2. The true desecrators
Alan ,   Silver Spring, USA   (07.11.06)
Those homosexuals who insist on publicly displaying their "sexual orientation" in one of the holy cities, Jerusalem, are the desecrators. Bad enough for them to "come out" anywhere in Eretz Israel. All who accept the Torah -- and the Quran -- as the law of God. Kavod to R. Amar and the rabbis, priests, and imans who oppose the desecration of Jerusalem.
3. if you're a rabbi then I'm the Messiah
Messiah ,   Israel   (07.11.06)
Mr Graetz, you make me puke, stop trying to use this to earn some political points and get a real job!
4. abomination
Lev ,   NJ   (07.11.06)
it is clear from the Torah that homosexuality is considered an abomination. As a "rabbi" you should know that. but i guess these days conservative movement os so desperate for memberships that they already ordained gay and lesbians as rabbies. THATs the REAL desecration of G-d's name. No to gay parade in Jerusalem.
5. Kol hakavod, Rabbi Graetz
Yehudit   (07.11.06)
Thank you for showing the community what real moral leadership is. You are living up to your congregation's name--Shevat Ahim. I cannot understand the hatred towards gays and the fear of their gathering. HaShem made them as they are. Blessed be the One who creates humans in all their diversity.
6. No hate
Abdullah ,   MArakesh, Moroqo   (07.11.06)
The march is really a mischief to provoke people in Jslem who you know will not beteer "understand" the gay position by marching where they live. Israel does not discriminate against gays or anyones sexuality, excpept pedophiles and bestophiles. Sexuality should be a private matter in one's home. This is simple modesty. Religious peopl do not approve of publically displayed sexuality regardless of its orientation. So why provoke this community. If this is really about gay rights, why not match in a place where gays are really oppressed, like Mecca or Tehran. If this is really about fighting bigotry why not protest in places where even private sexuality of the gay kind is persecuted. Stop tormenting the religious community of JSlem. Visit Jslem enjoy the city, go to a hotel and do anyhting you want in private. Nobody is going to stop you. How would you like it if religious Jews and muslims come to hold religious events in a gay neighbourhood in san francisco or manchester with the specific aim of teaching gays that studying the torah or the koran would give a better lifestyle than the gay one. If they come into the gay clubs and begin preaching torah or koran. And basically PEACEFULLY disrupting the events in gay communities. Give religious people tgheir space, jsut as you have yours. But if you truly want to fight for gay rights then fight those who kill gays (in Mecca, tehran and Kabul) and not those who practice the principle of "live and let live" in JSlem.
7. Y-Net Is a Sewer
Jerry ,   NYC, USA   (07.11.06)
spewing filth in the world through its non-stop pushing of homosexuality on the world. Enough is enough, stop it already.
8. That's exactly what it is...
Talula ,   Israel   (07.11.06)
baseless hatred. Someone told me that gays/lesbians are unnatural freaks because they cannot reproduce, as with god's wish. Well, if that is what constitutes an unnatural freak, I suggest all the bigots go down to the nearest fertility clinic and see how many straight married couples cannot have a child either - are they also 'unnatural' freaks?? Gays have as much a right to march as any other citizen in this country. They are colourful and wonderful, just leave them alone.
9. the true meaning of libety
cordier   (07.11.06)
"La liberté consiste à faire tout ce qui ne nuit pas à autrui" french declaration of human rights 1789. "Liberty is doing what you want without hurting anyone". the "gay pride" rodeo is hurtful : - to the feeling of importants minorities (muslim, christians, true jews) - to the young who can be choked to see half nude same sex personn doing insane things; - To the state of israel which need to have a population with a lot of well educated children by carefull families and not, without their (the two) own children, sex enjoying, same sex couples who are "prood of" fucking together - to the strong christian supporting israel community in the world. Why do you want they support a country which want to be the homeland of the gays of the world ? this gay celebration in jerusalem is a provocation which divide and hurt a lot of people and the state of israel. Do it and what you want with free agreeing people in your private not in the street.
10. i suggest a gay march in Nazareth !!!!
cordier   (07.11.06)
i suggest a gay march in Nazareth !!!!just to see arabs beating meretznick !!!! it will be so fun !!!! (i m joking of course)... More seriously i don t understand why meretz is against a "love land of israel march" (with peaceful kachnick and settlers ) in baka al garbiya or shfaram... Meretz is a group of hypocrits who use "human rights" just as a tool in his fight against jewish and zionist values.
11. Tzvi Graetz Article
Ceaser ,   Ariel, Israel   (07.11.06)
The 'gay pride parade' is another attempt to try to legitimatize behaviors that are strictly forbidden. The actions of those who have organized, promoted and plan to participate in support of this parade are inciting against all of us that abhor this behavior. The Torah which has served us well for 3,500 years is clear on this issue. Homosexuality is forbidden. This immoral behavior must not be condoned in any form or format. It has been asked, 'If they must parade why not do this in someplace other then Jerusalem?' The reason of course is that this is a direct attack upon the Jewish People and upon our Torah. How can one claim the title of Rabbi when it's apparent they never studied Torah? While Mr. Graetz is correct in protesting against those who justify and incite violence, Mr. Graetz is in essence justifying the abhorent acts that the supporters of this behavior commit.
12. We will be there too for exactly the same reasons

14. The Author Misrepresents Judaism
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.11.06)
Once again, we read an article by someone parading with the title "rabbi" and teaching us what the Torah says. This individual cannot be a rabbi because rather than teach Torah, he misrepresents Torah. This person writes rhetorically: "Has it really come to this? This is Torah? Is this the way to bring people close to Torah?" Yes, it has come to this. Our obligation is to defend the dignity and honor of Torah values and ethics. If it means to demonstrate, then that is what has to be done. This IS very much Torah. Torah is morality. Homosexual relations is immorality. It is beyond belief that someone calls himself "rabbi" does not understand this basic point. There are things which supercede bringing people "to Torah" and this is one of them. The honor of Torah is the honor of G-d. We must defend it and not permit perversion and obscenity to mar its sacredness. You, Mr. Graetz, are now numbered as a Chota U'Machtee.
16. Unbelievable
Carol ,   Israel   (07.11.06)
Gilad Shalit is held captive by Hamas and Israel is under a constant barrage of Quassam rockets and THIS is what is making your blood boil? This is what is important? I am disgusted by the vile language coming from the people who are against the gay pride parade. I think I might just join Rabbi Graetz at the parade.
17. Hello #7!
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.11.06)
You are 100% right. The way to get them to stop is to boycott their advertisers.
18. it must mean that there are homo haredim
rachel farbstein ,   los angeles, ca   (07.11.06)
if the haredim are so threatened by this parade that they are paying people to kill gays this tells me that whoever handed out these flyers has major issues and is probably gay themselves. i know of religious jews who have admitted to me that they have attractions towards men but hate gays. whoever handed out the flyer must have a nice collection of blue movies in his closet when his rebbe isn't looking
19. haredim pick and choose which halachot to follow
yossi shalet ,   miami, fl   (07.11.06)
i find it very curious that haredim are very upset about gays , because the Torah says so, but they could care less about the agunot, could care less about women who are beat by their wives, care less about children who are starving, care less about widdows. i mean YES there are haredi organizations that do help out people who are in poverty but when was the last time you saw the leaders of the haredi community getting this angry over poverty and over the abuse of women by their husbands? this tells me that the haredim, like everyone else, pick and choose which halachot they are going to follow and which halachot they are leaving by the waste side.
20. I will be there oppose the menacing terror of the haredim
Andy   (07.11.06)
21. Why did you focus on one?
RW ,   Jerusalem   (07.11.06)
"To remind: The first temple was destroyed because of three sins: idol worship, sexual immorality and wanton bloodshed." Why did you focus just on bloodshed, or for the Second Beis HaMikdash, baseless hatred, and you COMPLETELY ignored what you wrote was one of the three that destroyed the First Beis HaMikdash: Sexual Immorality. Why did you leave that one out?
22. This week's parsha
RW ,   Jerusalem   (07.11.06)
"Enough desecration of God's name in the name of religion!" Tell me... did Pinchas desecrate G-d's name? He actually killed two people for immoral behaviour?
23. Offensive Gay Parade
Joel Horden ,   Herzliya, Israel   (07.11.06)
We live in a democracy so that adults who can not control their same sex affections are free to practice their homosexuality even though it is forbidden by the Torah. Howver, this does not give them the right to offend the sensabilities of the majority of the citizens of Jerusalem who are religious by parading in a licentious manner in the heart of our holy city.
24. The Torah is only against.....
Israel ,   USA   (07.11.06)
acting on ones desires of being gay not about being gay thats how god created you but that doesnt mean you shouldnt restrain yourself
25. #19
RW ,   Jerusalem   (07.11.06)
"i find it very curious that blacks are very upset about gays , because the Bible says so, could care less about women who are beat by their wives, care less about children who are starving, care less about widdows." Doesn't stereotyping sound ugly?

27. Correct, Gays have only hate!
yehuda ,   new york usa   (07.11.06)
a) Adulterers, bestiality, violation of Shabbos, are all offensive to religious Jews. Yet for years their was a semi- understanding. Those who violated Judaism, did it in their homes, kibbutzim nightclubs in Tel-Aviv, and did not try to impose their values on religious Jews, by going into thier neighbohoods. Maybe 30 years ago, secularists tried to demonstrate "Chllul Shabbos" in Meah Shearim, but these are things of the past. Yes, then a minority of religious responded violently, when Chillul shabbos was brought to them, but they never marched into secular kibbutzim, to block their roads and impose Shmiras Shabbos on them! Today, the Gays are trying to force Three major religions in Jerusalem accept Gay values. Perhaps the religious should demand that "AIDS drugs" be removed from the "health basket" as long as cancer patients, can't get their drugs. Gays want to FORCE acceptance of their values on Three religions in Jerusalem, perhaps, there's a need for "pushback" about their lack of health values, let alone 3500 years of morality. Not since the Macabbees defeated the Greeks was this an issue!
28. it saddens me to think that J'lem wishes to be ruled by
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (07.11.06)
the Arabs. I love Israel and wish for a Complete Israel encompassing all of the West Bank AND GAZA but I cannot help but wonder if the Arabs would have subjected Jerusalem to this humiliation. I am pretty convinced that if Jerusalem was under Muslim rule, chas veshalom, the Gay Pride parade would not go forward. We are giving a pitchon peh to the mekatregim to say to Ribono Shel Olam, "you gave Jerusalem back to the Jews and this is what they did with it. The time has come for you to perhaps give it to the children of Ishmael, who understand its holiness."
