1. un comes to the rescue of hezbolah
paulo2005 ,   lisbon,portugal   (07.13.06)
As usual the UN is coming to rescue the arab agressors. Such script has been played over and over again.First UN does agree to withdraw from sinay , in 1967. Next since israel was the winner in resolution 242 one can read: " Emphasizing the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war ..". But such enphasys only aplies to israel since UN did not prevent israel from being attacked in 1973 . When arab strikes UN does look the other way. When Israel retaliates the UN does come to the rescue of the arab forces
2. lebanon you are not in position to demand a thing!
אא ,   Israel   (07.13.06)
3. the jihadist muslim regime of has no choice but 2 surrender
stop iran ,   iran is mad   (07.13.06)
4. Who Are The Extremists?
Noah Bergman ,   NY   (07.13.06)
It is clear that world opinion - including the United States - views Israel's actions in gaza and Lebanon as excessive. This pointless show of superior force - thanks to the United States - has achieved nothing other than world condemnation. It is also clear that Israel's wanton use of excessive force has no other purpose than to inflict collective punishment on innocent Palestinian and Lebanese people. Israel is out of control and must be reined in before its irresponsible actions escalate the conflict into a regional war.
5. All in Proportion
Robert Tildem ,   Sheridan, WY, USA   (07.13.06)
to all those who are complaining about propotions, perhaps the French wouldnt mind if Israel nabbed 2 of their soldiers in Leon, or the Russians wouldnt mind having 20% of their own country shelled by say Kazakhstan.
6. Lebananon wants ceasrfire: And?..........
Yakov, Ph.D. ,   Ashkelon   (07.13.06)
We have spent over a decade with the Oslo fiasco and the Gaza surrender teaching the Islamic jihadis that Israel is a dying experiment in Jewish soverienty. Now we have to pay the price. No surrender to Beirut, Gaza, Tehran, Paris or any other country that believes that Israel is a dead experiment.
7. Lebanon asks for ceasefire
Michael Steiner   (07.13.06)
No ceasefire. Good night.
8. It's clear who the extremists are, Noah.
John Doe ,   Dallas, Tex   (07.13.06)
The extremists are the ones who instigated the crisis; the ones who attacked Israel unprovoked. Or do you not have news in NY? Thankfully, Israel doesn't kowtow to the world and isn't swayed by it's opinion. The international community has rarely supported Israel and never will. Israel must act to defend itself regardless of what the world, largely anti-Semitic anyway, says or thinks.
9. Cry babies
Shai ,   Israel   (07.13.06)
Come out and fight! You wanted it, now bring it on cowards - don't go hiding behind the UN's skirt. Either you fight us and try to beat us, in accordance with all that bravado of yours about how Israelis can't fight and how you'll trounce us, or you move the Lebanese army into the south and disarm Hizbollah, while releasing the Israeli soldiers you took captive. Otherwise, we must continue as we are going.
10. #4. Noah Bergman
Ram ,   London   (07.13.06)
You are the ultimate blind and illogical self-hating Jew judging by your name and your post. We can only be grateful you are amongst a minority of Jews suffering from this affliction. What is wrong with holding your head up proudly and standing up for what is right? Raining qassams and daily attempts to murder Jews demand a reaction. You are no longer living in the Nazi era when you had no choice. Reflect!

14. Noah
K ,   College Station, TX   (07.13.06)
You don't just seem to be a self-hating Jew, but a self-hating American as well. Time has proven that hostage exchanges with Israel only means more Israeli hostages. Time has also proven that the only successful response to force is the employment over overwhelming and "disporportionate" counter-force. Israel's only two mistakes were to give up their prisoners in exchange in the past. The second was to give one inch of land. I plan on writing my congressman to see about a possible bill to help the Israeli's replace their spent Artillery shells and bombs. Israel should immediately cease fire when their hostages are returned UNHARMED and UNHUMILIATED.
15. A ceasefire would be great...
LirazBA ,   San Francisco   (07.13.06)
but we need to give them that AFTER the rockets are no longer coming across our border and AFTER their army assists us in the abolishing of Hezbollah and AFTER our soldiers have been handed over unharmed.
16. The next time the U.S.
LirazBA ,   San Francisco   (07.13.06)
says that Israel has a right to defend herself but that her actions shouldn't destabilize Lebanon's government, Israeli should inquire as to the stability of Iraq at this point. The answer should be interesting.
17. Israel's condemned
marya ,   sacramento   (07.13.06)
again and again by the same nations and people. Why is is when you are obliged to protect yourself they condemn you. But when you are throwing Jews from their homes to appease terrorists they gave you a little pat on the back and a wink of approval - "oh, good little Jew. We'll invite you to lunch sometime. Make sure you come to the back door -- don't call us, we'll call you..."
18. all the idiots like #9
omar   (07.13.06)
Cowards? thats pretty funny, you live in the same part of the world, you have tanks and gunships and the people who are causing you a headache have rocks. Thats funny. you are pretty blind, go destroy an airport or something, or how about a bridge, from 10 miles away. who's the coward? #9 are you going to fight? or are you at home drinking your starbucks?
19. To #5
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.13.06)
Where the hell would the frogs get two soldiers from? The russkies will get their's soon enough. They got enough moslems to keep them in terror for a long time.
20. no 10 on ceasefire
anne ,   bournemouth uk   (07.13.06)
Lebanon is paying the price for harbouring terrorists - with whom many Lebanese, including their own ambassador to the US (now removed!) agree. If Hezbollah had not started this, Israel would not be there now. Check your facts.
21. A telling sign of the beaten and the stupi ( a.k. a losers )
Lindon Richards ,   Milpitas CA USA   (07.13.06)
What is always funny and peculiar, is the fact that there is always a celebratory reaction among the Paliastians and their supporters when some testerone driven idiot, initiate some seemingly spectacular first blow at Isreal. At the same time, always a few days after, these very same people begin to holler at the top of their lungs, when they are visited by some extensive and very serious Isreali retribution. I used to find this a bit unsual , but have since come to realize that this is a pervasive and genuine feature of the defeated. These people, have been beaten so many times that it matters not that they will suffer as they always say, disproportionate reprisals for ther actions. Hizbollah, Hamas , Iran and other such violent idiots, do not mind the fact that they are subjecting their people to huge and long lasting problems as long as they grab their few minutes of fame or attention on the world stage. What are the benefits of the following to the Lebanese, a closed airport, massive economic dislocations, the presence Isreali troops in Lebanon, the deaths of many dead cvilians abd other people, an Isreali naval blockade, the large scale use of Isreali artillary, attacks on Hizbollah it self, the destruction of bridges, telephone lines, ete etc. What if someone in Hizbollah had sought to address their concerns throuh international diplomacy ? What if they had embark on a path designed to legitimize their concerns and deligitimize Isreals actions. In short, what if this segment of humanity was fertile enough to produce a leader like say a Nelson Mandella, how much more poasitive and different would things be today? Personally, I am not hopeful that anything but foolish and unproductive violence will come from the Hamas , Hizbollah Iran Nexus anytime soon. The rest of us will only see bellicose and boastful statements coming out of these idiots followed as always by cries of pain when it is payback time. All this is one sure sign of the beaten and the stupid
22. Israeli leftists are mute now
Bush ,   usa   (07.13.06)
all their hard work falling down before their eyes. Are they really likudniks or maybe leftists. Confused people who forgot what is right and wrong anymore. Peace or war, Give them arms or kill them out. What is a Jew and why is he suffering generation after generation.
23. Who am I PART 1
Bush ,   usa   (07.13.06)
What is a Jew and why is he suffering generation after generation. Were these passed 60 years in Israel peaceful or violent? Is true peace just a ceasefire? We are not fighting Syria or Iran and i don't feel peace with them. Even if Israel lasts 100 more yrs will it be similar to the last 60 we went through. Can we destroy every country that calls out for our destruction? That will leave an almost desolate world. But why, why are we different. I THOUGHT THINGS WOULD CHANGE FOR ME AFTER WWII.
24. Who am I PART 2
BUSH ,   USA   (07.13.06)
Am I on the likud right that will wipe out anyone who snubs us Jews if it is ever possible to? Or am I on the extreme left who will put out a hand of support to someone who might kill me one day. What is the answer to our suffering of 3000 yrs? If I become more secular will I have a closer relationship with my Moslem neighbors or the EU? If one dies for being a Jew will his grandkids to be born, live or will die the same fate from a different anti-Semitic world power. What can I do to have my grandkids live? Should I distance them from Judaism because that is why they are killing us, But it's not just the orthodox they hate if they know they even exist it's even the Jews far removed from orthodoxy they hate and if they will both be killed maybe it's better to die an observant Jew at least he has the next world to look forward to. I think I am going to follow my logic this time. I think I am going to return to my G-d. This suffering happened way too many times for me to believe it's all a coincidence. I think G-d is trying to tell me something and this time I want to listen to Him. I am even privileged to know that as a Jew I have that direct line to speak to Him whenever I need him. Thank G-d that I am a Jew.
25. #11 - Talkback - Lebanon
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (07.13.06)
Wrong question - should be asking why Lebanon does not stop the rockets from being fired.
26. Noah doesn't speak for me
Michelle   (07.13.06)
I can't stand people who think they speak for me. As an American, I fully support Israel's right to defend itself against aggression from the palestinians and Lebanon. Noah, do not post such ridiculous statements pretending that you speak for all Americans.
27. Give us back our 2 soldiers or we will destroy Lebanon!
Avraham ,   Netivot   (07.13.06)
28. Ceasefire,Shmeacefire-release the Soldiers
Alan ,   SA   (07.13.06)
29. Noah, you're morally blind
Shai ,   Israel   (07.13.06)
I'm fed up with your attitude. Absolutely fed up. This is not a f***ing video game, this is real! We have been under attack from Gaza and Lebanon since we pulled out of there, in the hope that we could forge peace. When we pulled out, those of us who justified it did so by noting that if the peace does not evolve, we will be able to go back and have the whole world "understand" why that was necessary. Well, it was all bull. Guys like you are always talking about who's "innocent". Palestinians are always "innocent" to people like you. Now the Lebanese are "innocent". Is there nobody who is guilty but Israelis? Well, if that's what you think then bug off. We'll take care of business. The best way to gain peace is to make sure that your opponent can't make war. Unfortunately, the way Israel is handlng this is the only way that can work. The UN and others have always stopped us short - this is something we must resist. If this requires a regional war to bring peace, then so be it. The only thing worse than war is this constant attrition we are forced to suffer at the hands of these psychopaths. And hope we win, Noah - the US is next if we lose.
30. To 11
Shai ,   Israel   (07.13.06)
Well, did you complain when Israel paid the price of Lebanon's not moving their army and disarming Hezbollah, as the UNSCR required? I can say with certainty that you did not. Raise your pup, rear your dog. This is, as Peretz said, your payback for Lebanon's small minded attitude that always said that Hizbollah was Israel's problem. Now it's your problem. Either take out Hizbollah, or expect to continue to pay the price of accommodating this terrorist organization on your soil.
