It is clear that world opinion - including the United States - views Israel's actions in gaza and Lebanon as excessive. This pointless show of superior force - thanks to the United States - has achieved nothing other than world condemnation. It is also clear that Israel's wanton use of excessive force has no other purpose than to inflict collective punishment on innocent Palestinian and Lebanese people.
