remember the 6 day war? when 8 arab countries INVADED israel and there was a news blackout for 6 days while they world was on hold thinking israel was being destroyed? then... after 6 days, the blackout was lifted and israel had captured parts of jordan, egypt, and lebanon... they can take care of themselves contrary to your opinions. if they gave in to the terrorists demands, there'd be kidnappings daily.

Yes let the diplomacy start but only after the kidnapped soldiers are returned. Or failing that, after Israel destroys Lebanon, Gaza and anyone else who gets in her way. The time for talking is over. The time to win a war is now. Even if it is WWIII. Israel has got to finish the job and bring these killers to their knees. Then offer them a peace that is livable and viable without profering up any more land. If the Arabs get really lucky, Israel and the US will help rebuild what was destroyed. But this peace will have to be similar to that of Germany and Japan. No starnding army, no weapons etc. Israel has a right to demand complete disarmament from aggressive neighbors.

WWIII started years ago. Many have still failed to accept it and that is sad. Thankfully Bush has recognized it. Isreal does not have to face it alone. There are 6 nations surrounding Israel who have attacked or made public their desire for the destruction of Israel during the past 35 years. Any other country would be justified when defending its borders from similar attacks .... alas, the only democratic state in the region is condemned by the same individuals who still refuse to believe we are at war with a certain group of people. Their war is not against a nation or political system but against all who differ with them. If New Jersey were sitting where Israel currently sits they would be at war with New Jersey as it does not conform with their religious/social dictates. Israel is, regardless the disbelief of it's neighbors, a sovereign nation replete with a political, social and philosophical doctrine and, as such, retains and occasionally exercises its rights to self-protection through military force. When their enemies(aka Islamic-ruled nations) finally accept that fact, and ONLY when that fact has been accepted, there will be an end to the war. Currently that war is being experienced in five other countries. ALL of them just so happen to be Christian, hence, Democratic nations.

Israel has to defeat Hizboula and Hamas- not just get their soldiers back. So long as Gaza and Lebanon allow armed groups to attack Israel they cannot claim to be unaware of the attacks. These attacks are "acts of war", plain and simple. Iran is happy to see Israel at war, especially if they can remain on the sidelines, and promote a war involving everyone else. Iran is supplying men and arms to the insurgents in Iraq, and was instrumental in starting the current warfare with Israel. It is war now. It is not about "disproportionate response". It's about defeating the enemy as quickly and completely as possible. If you want to win a war, here's a good, basic plan of action: If you fire a missile at my home, I wil fire one thousand missiles back at you. If you fire one hundred missiles at my home, I will fire a hundred thousand missiles at you in return.
