Mr. Lapid is a rabid anti-Semite. He is obsessed with hatred for large chunks of the Jewish people. It is an insult to all Jews to appoint this evil-tongued man to this position. If this happens, I will urge people to boycott Yad Vashem.

He is not an anti-semite. You have no idea what you are talking about. Just because he is not religious, you are calling him an anti-semite. Now who is the pot calling the kettle black. Tommy is a good choice for this position. He is afterall, a Holcaust survivor.

Lapid does hate judaism and religious Jews who were the more numerous victims of the Shoah. This guy will erase their memory from Yad vaShem... 'hasveshalom !
4. He just happens to have hate for 40% ofthe holocaust victims

Ezra doesn't know what he is taking about. Religious Jews were NOT more numerous victims. I know, have been there. Lapid is a good, inteligent Jew - as am I and as is prof.Weiss, his predecessor.

I hardly think that being against a minority of Orthodox Jews wanting to control the lives of the majority of secular Israelis makes one an anti-Semite. While there are certainly self-hating Jews who would qualify as anti-Semites, it doesn't appear as if Tommy Lapid is one of them. Frankly, I'd be more disturbed by what I've heard is his condescending attitude toward non-Ashkenazi Israelis. To me that's more offensive.

Ezra is too young to have been there, but lost part of his family in the Shoa. Ezra does remember what Lapid does say about religious Jews and sefardi Jews. Ezra does think that only a Jew respecting all victims of the Shoa can lead Yad vaShem.

Sorry for being a minority trying to control your life. But I cannot help it because I already control the whole world through my international jewish conspiracy.

You live in a Canada, a liberal country by most standards, and I live in New York, a liberal city by most standards, and so we don't have to live with a religious minority attempting to control our lives. I was married to an Israeli who died when he was very young. He spent four years in an elite IDF unit and was willing to give his life for Israel, but he happened to be an atheist. But when I agreed to have him buried in Israel by his family's request (even though he had been adamant about wanting to be cremated), I had no choice but to bury him in an Orthodox cemetery. I can't help feeling that my beloved husband is turning in his grave, so I hope you'll forgive me for being bitter about the fact that, even in death, it seems that Orthodox Judaism had the last word.

Happy to have you in Canada, dear Ezra. You may advise the Canadian Goverment about all people fit for all posts. P.S. Writing of himself in the third person is a very bad sign.

Sorry for your bitter experience with burrying regulations in Israel. But keep in mind that laws are made in the Knesset which is elected by israeli citizens. It does mean that every segment of israeli population is voting for people who will try to enforce its vision of the State. Sometimes the Knesset does make laws you like, sometimes it does make laws you don't like. I call it democracy in both cases. But you can choose to call it "life control" when you loose.

Sorry to see you don't catch my humour. By the way saying about yourself that you are "a good and intelligent Jew" is definitely not what I call humility.

world population to hold such a position. Nekudah!!
14. Why a political appointment?
Ariel ,   Canberra, Australia   (07.20.06)
I'm not saying Mr Lapid would do a bad job, but why not have a proper accountable selection process? The Government should appoint a Board of Management for Yad Vashem and then the board can conduct interviews and appoint whomever they feel is suitable. This should be the case for all government-owned authorites...
