I have fresh running water, I have electricity I have food in my fridge, petrol in my car, a job, a good health fund and none of my family or friends are sitting in a Palestinian prison, or indeed an Israeli prison. Many Palestinians have been living in this very area for centuries before Israel was established in 1948! Generations of families have been living on land that was taken in 1948 and is still being taken today through the building of Jewish settlements in the West Bank. How would you like it if someone showed up one day on the only piece of land you have ever known and said get out this is mine now, bulldozed your house, and took your olive tree grove? That is how many Palestinians feel today, to tell them to get out because it’s not their land is like telling Americans that the US is not theirs and they should go back to Europe! While Hamas MUST stop terrorist attacks and recognize the state of Israel, Israel MUST withdraw from the occupied West Bank - and not in a plan like that offered in 2000 where the West Bank was so cut up with Settlement bypasses and other barriers that it would have been impossible to establish a viable state in the first place! Palestinians deserve the same rights and freedoms as Israelis and to sufficiently exercise these rights the occupation must ends, settlements must be disbanded, the Separation Wall must follow 1967 borders rather than a convenient line drawn on the whim by the Israeli government, and the PA must be allowed to adequately govern the region. While Palestinians are certainly not blameless in their plight, neither is Israel blameless in discriminating against Palestinians and subjugating them as second-class citizens in their own land! Both sides must accept responsibility for the pain they have caused the other side, only then can peace talks begin. Palestinians do suffer A LOT and it is time we in the US realize this. For me it took a trip to Israel and the West Bank, where I lived in Beit Sahour and had to travel through Israeli checkpoints and see the daily struggles the Palestinians face on a daily basis, and I talked with both Muslims and Christians from Bethlehem, Hebron, Nablus, and Ramallah. In the same way I feel for the Israeli people after living in Jerusalem and on a Kibbutz. I care deeply for both people and do not want to take a side, but just want to see peace and a society where both sides can be free and safe!

It is funny how surprised you are that I am in the US. For your info I am an American born and raised. Just because I am not Palestinian does not mean I do not know what is right. All people are valuable and have the right to live. One group is not worthy more than the other. Palsestinians will not just be forgotten just because you want them to. Greed will get you nowhere and the truth will prevail. How hard is it to do the right thing? Just let go of what is not yours, and stay on your side. I guess the basics of what is mine is mine and what is yours is yours is hard to grasp. In the end we just talk, those on the land are the heroes. STOP THE KILLINGS!!
