On this Shabbat I will be praying with a minyan for the health and success of Israel. Hashem wants us to be strong in the face of the evil oppressors. Those who rise against the will of Hashem are using the world media attention to spread their twisted propaganda. The Jewish people can see through their lies and deceit, but we must stand united against the unmitigated evil which is rising against us. The antisemites will use Nazi propaganda {like Iran} to push us down, to cause us shame, and to mislead the feeble minded. They are commiting so many sins in the eyes of the L-rd Almighty that his anger must be growing daily. I pray with much kevanna so that Israel will prevail against the dirty and lowly antisemites. I am not Jewish but I have wondered since adolesence why the Jews from whom Catholics owe so much of their history, Bible and beliefs of one God to have been so persecuted since the beginnings of European history. The Holocast was particulary appalling and as you stated a theme that the Iranian leader has so quickly grasped upon. Of course you would conclude that these thoughts were festering for a long time in that society/religion. Although the Romans persecuted Jews and early Christians, theirs was a less ethnic and more political in nature. I still do not know where the vehement hatred comes from and why it is still prevalent. It absolutely stuns me especially when the violence is so directed at the Jews and Israel. I have read Islamic scriptures and the directives of Islamic "religious leaders". I fully agree with the premise today the Jews tomorrow the world as the Islamic goals. We must be diligent in stopping this not just for our own self interest but the world cannot exist without our Jewish brothers and sisters. I think prayers will help and remembering Psalm 121:3-8 (it may be different in your Torah) Truly the Guardian of Israel never slumbers or sleeps...The Lord will guard your coming and going both now and forever. I have to believe this in today's evilness because otherwise leads to overwhelming sadness.
