1. Do not release any prisoners
Mark ,   Usa   (07.21.06)
They need to unconditionally release Gilad Shalit unharmed. No exchanges.
2. Hope Not
J K ,   NYC, USA   (07.21.06)
While I welcome most any step that would bring Gilad home safe and sound, giving up prisoner that have blood on their hands likely isnt the way to go. I hope it doesnt come to this, but I am sad I think it will. But, at the end of the day, to see Gilad alive and unhurt would put a smile on the face of his family and all the people of Israel.
3. Bad idea
Chatich   (07.21.06)
Where's the logic here? If we release murderes and terrorists in exchange for one soldier (who's probably long-since dead already), who here can honestly doubt the released murderers will end up killing and maiming more innocent Israelis? No negotiations with terrorists, otherwise we best just march ourselves into the sea like they want.
4. not acceptable to us
Ahmad Abouali ,   Nablus-Falasteen   (07.21.06)
no ifs or buts, we will not accept releasing the Zionist terrorist until all of our prisoners are out, including those woh planed, and activated all the martyerdom operations in the Zionist entity's depth...less than this will be not civilized
5. 1:1000?
Shai ,   Israel   (07.21.06)
Just once I'd like the UN and others to notice with outrage that the word "disproportionate" applies more to the demands of the terrorist's groupies than it does to our use of force to defeat Hizbollah.
6. HOW WE KNOW IF GILAD IS ALIVE ?????
AVINU   (07.21.06)
My KOFI ANAN ANSWER THAT ????
7. Israel should foresight
keren ,   sao paulo   (07.21.06)
LONG TERM solutions, even paying the high price for its previous failures and mistakes. It is not time any more for concessions-in my view-,but for very intelligent and thoughfull long term plans for its security. A short term solution will only aggravate security problems in Israel, which will strive more and more for worse-G'od forbid. Israel must keep very strong by now;must gather its better heads to find together long term solutions,AND MUST NOT LISTEN ARABS NOR FOREIGNERS ,AT ALL! They are not interested in the Israel's wellbeing.Only Jews themselves ,and a few friends, have this interest. No body else! Understand this FACT already ,and start acting accordingly!
8. Give them the prisoners
Rodger ,   Fresno, USA   (07.21.06)
Release all the palestinian prisoners, from a height of 200 meters above palestinian cities. Let them fly free, all the way to the ground.
9. WTF?!?!?!
SHOCKED   (07.21.06)
negotiating with those bastards?! no way. turn gaza into a haunt of jackals!
10. NO!
Michael Steiner   (07.21.06)
This is not acceptable... - unless Israel implants tracking tags in those animals and then cancels them at a later stage.
11. We are embarrasing
Zohar ,   NY   (07.21.06)
I am ashamed
12. Report: Israel to release prisoners for Gilad Shalit
Evgeniy ,   NYC, US   (07.21.06)
I know what relatives feel. But in a case this claim is true and it will be fulfilled, Israel should be ready for a chain of abductions until last terrorist will be on loose. Then, they (Hamas/Hezbollah) will ask for huge chunks of money. The better idea could be a capture of one of their leaders (rest should be put to sleep by bombs, rockets or/and by any other means) and trade a guy for our solders, that’s pretty much it. But before it to turn a bad guy into living symbol of why it’s bad idea to go head to head with Israel.
13. not acceptable to us
(07.21.06)
to us neither
14. Olmert is weak.
Jeremiah ,   Israel, Jewish Land   (07.21.06)
15. How 'bout this deal...
Truth   (07.21.06)
OK, Hamas has exactly 1 hour to realease Gilad Shalit, or all that's left of Gaza is a smoking hole in the ground (and then we still turn Gaza into a smoking hole in the ground),
16. is it shit bet or shin bet ?
(07.21.06)
it is really both.
17. Excuse me
Excuse me   (07.21.06)
is this al-Hayat newspaper is a reliable source?
18. AMHAD
ilana ,   usa   (07.21.06)
What could you possibly know about "civilized"? I am surprised you can spell it! You and your blood-thirsty maggots are U N A C C E P T A B LE in a civilized world. NO to prisoner exchange! Do not turn these killers loose to arm themselves against Israel. Not, not ever!
19. #5 SHAI
dor ,   IL   (07.21.06)
you ask too much
20. Re: succumbing to pressure
Tzachi ,   Tel Aviv   (07.21.06)
Mr. Olmert and Hamas? Hezbolleh? Don't want to have to pay for these terrorists sitting in our jails, not to keep them nor to release them. If they sit in jail nothing is accomplished. If they are released then we are open to further murderous behaviors and treachery, are in more danger. Succumbing to this pressure will only elicit negative response. Already arabs think we are weaklings. Time for Isael to get USA backing, both military and monetarily to beat this evil. What would Bush do if one of american solidiers kidnapped? For sure, no exchange. Israel should not have to fight this war alone, we have already offered hand of peace many times. Time for govts in world to bring in their artillery as well as better diplomacy. But, I"H bring these three boys home safely and swiftly, without more violence.
21. The "value" of Israelis...
ian ,   Canada   (07.21.06)
I'm not keen on the idea of succumbing to any demands made during a hostage-taking crisis, as it only serves to show the terrorists that their methods can be effective. However, one interesting idea seems to arise form the propositrion of a trade... Apparently, one Israeli is worth 1000 Palestinians. Way to devalue the lives of your "citizens," Hamas!
22. No Exchanges Never
MARK ,   USA   (07.21.06)
Israel must never ever reward criminal behavior.
23. GOOD IDEA
Ronald ,   USA   (07.21.06)
this must have happened since long time, common sense! before israel kill many civilians (mostly kids)... i suppot this but i don't think it will happen cause jews are blood-thirsthy and they like it this way. Ron
24. Release palestinians
huth ,   Daytona beachFlorida   (07.21.06)
Release all palestinians held illegally. not the terrorists but the illegally held prisoners. and withdraw from the west bank.
25. one life
Tom ,   Philadelphia, PA   (07.21.06)
I continue to be amazed to what lengths Israel will go to save one Israeli life. Waging a war against Hezbollah in Lebanon, where many innocents die, must be wrenching for a society that values one human life.
26. Prisoner Exchange
Reason ,   Canada   (07.21.06)
This is not a Bruce Willis movie. This is real life. Sometimes you have to negociate. Anything that will bring peace is a good thing. We were almost out of the forest here. We should negociate for peace now and firmly declare our borders. This will involve signing permanent peace treaties with Hamas and Hezbollah, which seem to be really running their countries. We need peace by any means. Israel should be a place where any Jew can come and feel safe and at home.
27. Give them back their prisoners
Adam ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.21.06)
Start with all of their heads, then part by part give the scum back. If Israel releases prisoners in exchange for Galit, we should riot!
28. same treatment
arie   (07.21.06)
give them there prisoners in the same way that we got the three solders that were kidnaped in 2000 back. !!! In Coffins using the same 400:1 ratio that they used
29. Report is totally incorrect
Alex ,   LA, USA   (07.21.06)
It was published by the Arab paper to encourege the Hizbullah, and by YNet to give some hope to the Israeli left that they will see their left-wing Arab brothers free. There is no even a small hint that the "report" was true.
30. Solution for jailed enemies:
Volunteer   (07.21.06)
We take out 100 enemies a day from each Israeli jail, give them a blindfold and a piece of bacon to chew on, followed by a bullet, until Gilad is returned. I would volunteer to administer the bullets.
