31. The whole world with their eye on us
J.B. ,   Tucson, U.S   (07.22.06)
And these degenerates have to run through the streets flaunting the extreme fringes of Jewish tolerance. This is one topic on which I agree with the Arabs
32. What a Disgrace
Sam ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.22.06)
World Pride should be held in Jerusalem every year so it can help lift the religious garbage out of the moral sewer.
33. The brave gays - don't get your panties in a Twist You
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (07.22.06)
Pansies
34. Postponed
Josh ,   London   (07.22.06)
I agree with the organisers of this event that it should be postponed for safety and security reasons. Funnily enough, the religious right in Israel seem to have no no moral nor religious worries about killing hundreds of innocent people in Lebanon and generally having appalling foreign policy. If anyone accuses me of being anti Semitic then you are deeply mistaken. I just do not agree with Israel's indiscriminate murderous methods. As for Gay Pride, well you should be proud that you are trying to spread a message of love and tolerance for all people, not killing innocents. I prefer to think that G-d will look more favourably on those who spread love rather than war.
35. GAY PARADE??
STRESSED ,   HAIFA   (07.22.06)
If uall are so desperate to parade why not come up North, u cud parade say in Nahariya or Carmiel..?? U cant say that anyone is stopping u, why not there instead of Jerusalem... Eric I agree with u wholeheartedly it is not about being GAY its about sticking it in ur face constantly...we all have our preferences sexual and otherwise, but most of us dont feel the need to go out an Parade in favour of them. Its another excuse to brandish the Jews homophobic etc when there are thriving gay communites all over Israel and no one has a problem with them....Find another venue..say Lebanon might be a favourable choice...lets see how tolerant the Arabs are about ur "coming out" parade??
36. homophobic muslims
jerry ,   austin texas USA   (07.22.06)
have been told by a co-worker from the middle east that you are only considered "gay" if you are a "bottom" which in the USA means that you are on the recieving end, excuse the expression..;) where as if you only "give" then you are not considered gay.....WHATEVER!!!!!
37. ponder this point
jerry ,   austin texas USA   (07.22.06)
the only point you need to ponder is the one on the top of your head
38. Move that parade to Mecca.
Carl ,   Denver, USA   (07.22.06)
Mmm.....Makes one wonder why they don't insist on their "rights" for a gay parade in Mecca, Medina, Tehran.... It's just another leftest organization trying to poke a needle in the eye of that "mean spirited oppressive western culture". Plans by same to have their little parade also in Vatican City shows that the target for these perverts is Western and Judea-Christian culture and religion.
39. As a gay man, sad to see the Jerusalem march canceled
Joe America ,   Santa Clara, CA   (07.22.06)
I think the current crisis in the ME is all the more reason for us to march and DEMAND equal rights!!!The Israeli Defense Forces, IDF, allows openly gay men , and women, to serve without fear of reprials. As such, if gay ppl are good enough to fight and die on the front lines...why shouldn't we have our march!!! WE CANNOT ALLOW THE BIGOTS TO EQUATE BEING GAY WITH LEPROSY!
40. We're not homophobic...
Bob Bringham ,   San Marcos USA   (07.22.06)
We're "homorexic"......i.e. feeling like an anorexic about gays. They make me lose my appetite and want to throw up when I hear of blasphemies like "gay pride" Why don't our little fairy friends march in South Lebanon? Bet there's a receptive "audience" for them there!
41. To: The Lion of Juda , Sweden and other homophobes
David ,   Karmiel   (07.22.06)
I did not state my sexual preference and I do not ask you yours. For the record though, I am a widower with two children. I find your comments rather strange as you Swedes are one of the most critical of nations when it comes to Israel. Where are your standards of equality, human rights, civil liberties and so on that you Swedes preach in support of the Arab butchers of our children? Regarding the Gays. Just like any other group, black white green on pink, Jew, Muslim, Christian or Zen Buddhist, they have the right to express themselves freely. This is part of the Basic Law (our Constitution) of the State of Israel. I am a secular Jew and I don’t like the fanaticism of the Ultra Orthodox but I do not deny them the right of expression. I certainly do not put a price on their heads! I would like to point out to you and others who are against the Gay Pride Parade in Jerusalem because it is the Holy City, that nowhere in the Torah is Jerusalem called that. In fact there was no Jerusalem and there was no Western Wall in the time of our Torah. Jerusalem was founded by King David who himself was the subject of some criticsm. Those who condemn Homosexuality because it is against the Torah, Leviticus 20:13 should read 20:10 about the fate of "Adulterers". Why do you not condemn them? Maybe they should hold a parade in Jerusalem. It would be bigger than the Gay Pride one! Israel is at war at the moment and we certainly do not need a "war" among ourselves. It is bad enough that we bicker and squabble of matters religious, secular and origin in times of calm. Let us stop this damn arguing about Gays and Straights and look at the big problem that our country and our people are facing. You, The Lion of Juda, Sweden, sit there far away in a country where it is said that people die of boredom. You Swedes are not being threatened by a lunatic in Teheran, his sidekick in Syria, and a religious maniac in Lebanon. That is what the world just does not understand. People in Lebanon are having a hard time but the people of Israel are being threatened on three fronts by a cruel and vicious enemy bent on the destruction of our land and the annihilation of the Jewish people. I am sure, The Lion of Juda, Sweden and the other homophobes, that you will probably agree that the Gay Pride Parade, now cancelled, is really insignificant when compared to the war and the dead and injured soldiers and citizens of Israel. The Katyusha rockets, the terrorist’s bombs and the snipers bullets do not seek out who is Straight, Gay, Secular or Religious. They just kill and maim. Now is the time to stand together, united and strong.
42. j'lem gay parade is immoral
James Lutz ,   Troy, Ohio   (07.22.06)
When is the straight day parade. When will the gays learn we do NOT fear them, we are sick of them trying to force their immoral issues down are throats.
43. To Scott in OK
(07.22.06)
I'm not Muslim and I'm not homophobic but your comment "those who are guilty of an act seem to be the most vocal about it" is not true. I am sure that most people who are against war have not killed anyone. I just don't like it when people use that phrase to "prove" that someone does something that they are against. Not logical.
44. This story might be a whitewash
sk ,   USA   (07.22.06)
This Talkback is not directed to the homohating goys who have written here, as they are irrelevant when it comes to Jerusalem. It is not THEIR city, and they are presumptuous to comment about it. I received an email today (link provided below) that suggests the Jerusalem police denied the permit because of the war. The present story does not mention that the permit was denied. I think this detail is not irrelevant, but I do not know what to make of it. Was the war merely an excuse to do what the Jerusalem politicians wanted the police to do anyway? Or, would the attendance be so poor given the war that Open House simply made a business decision? I don't know, but I am providing more info. http://www.planetout.com/news/article.html?2006/07/21/2
45. "Gay pride"?? In Jerusalem??
America Dave ,   Phoenix, USA   (07.22.06)
Unbelievable! God forgive them...
46. I don't think Muslims like gays
Anon Emus ,   USA   (07.22.06)
Maybe that's why they are sending missles into Israel. Homosexuallity is detestable to all normal people. Be they Muslim terrorists or not.
47. Pride? You have no pride
Lea de Lange ,   Jerusalem Israel   (07.22.06)
If you had only one drop of real Jewish Pride you would NEVER force yourselves on Jerusalem the holy city with anything that is strictly forbidden by "Jerusalem", so do not talk about pride, you have NO pride.
48. Gay Parade
bill munster ,   catskill, ny   (07.22.06)
What a stupid article. Hundreds of people are being killed, and the gays think it's important for all to know they're not having a gay parade with all the carnage going on around them. Jesus! These people are stupid!
49. Politically Correct Brainwashing
jeff ,   cleveland Ohio USA   (07.22.06)
Glad I stumbled across some SANITY here- Seems like most in Israel have NOT been brainwashed like us here in America. Calling "gay" sex what it is, stating how DISGUSTING and IMMORAL it is, fighting for NORMALCY is refreshing- so is the march into Lebanon to "take care of business" America has lost its way - we truly are the MOST LOST of the LOST TEN TRIBES-----
50. 47: Lea, cupcake,
sk ,   USA   (07.22.06)
this wasn't a "Jewish pride" march; it was a gay pride march. Is this distinction too subtle for you? It is just too bad that your reading of Torah (which, I expect you get whole-hog from the clown-suited-ones) conflicts with what should be a right to political assembly. I say "should be" because we all know that Israel, the land where someone can be arrested for organizing against the "disengagement," is no democracy. The odd thing is that Americans seem to develop amnesia the moment they arrive at TLV. Suddenly, the concept of a Bill of Rights is completely forgotten.
51. Mazal Tov - may it be cancelled forever!
AB ,   The Rock   (07.23.06)
These pink people have caused enough red to flow already.
52. End of Gay Pride Means End to Violence?
Jonathan W. ,   New York City   (07.23.06)
I read on News Fit to Post that anti-gay leaders are blaming the World Pride Parade for the violence in the Middle East. So does that mean that with pride's cancellation comes an immediate cease-fire?
53. James Lutz of Ohio is boring.
sk ,   USA   (07.23.06)
How many times on Ynet has someone pointed out that there is no "straight day parade" because straight people do not face systematic discrimination? But if you'd like to have such a parade, feel free to organize one. Many of the most homohating straight people DO fear gays. That's why attorneys have succeeded with a "gay panic" defense. James, are you capable of saying something that is even mildly interesting?
54. By the way ...
sk ,   USA   (07.23.06)
I am not going to repeat all of my comments about the sorry "arguments" of the homohaters. In the unlikely event that anyone cares to read them, check out http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3275483,00.html
55. Bunnie (5): spitting in people's faces
sk ,   USA   (07.23.06)
Parading in Jerusalem will not "create" hatred; it simply brings it into the open, just as it has on Ynet. I am surprised that you are so unfamiliar with the history of civil rights. Regarding gay rights in particular, there was a time when New York police could and did arrest gay bar patrons on a whim. At that time, would you have said that New York would never welcome gay bars and their patrons? The fact is there is nothing very original about Open House's tactics; they are by-the-book. If Israeli gay politicos began an outing campaign, the imitation of American technique would be complete. Incidentally, as you know, I have little in common politically with the organizers of this march.
56. the amount of hatred proves why they need this parade
Tel Aviver   (07.23.06)
though I agree, they should have had it in Tel Aviv as every year, where the mayor an the residents supports it.
57. Where is Phinehas of Numbers 25?
WPB ,   USA   (07.23.06)
This is not that difficult. How many times does history have to repeat itself? I'm sure that the all those in Sodom and Gomorrah were just as outspoken, brash and persuasive with their arguments declaring why their perversions were so legitimate. Pride? How demented can a person be to march in public to declare how proud they are of their abomidable lifestyle, but then take it a step further and march with "pride" in God's Holiest city in the world? The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is a kind, merciful and forgiving God, but what kind of judgement would come from somthing such as this? Of course Hamas and Hezbollah wouldn't bother this parade in the least bit. All of them are on the same side Spiritually. Romans 1:26,27 Time is very short, Israel needs to turn to God NOW more than ever before and not allow this travesty ever happen!
58. Gay Parade in Jerusalem
Mike ,   atlanta ga   (07.23.06)
Who cares about a gay parade, besides, these folks are not gay, they are homosexuals. Gay means happy and carefree, which these people are neither.
59. WPB (57): The Christian Philosopher
sk ,   USA   (07.23.06)
Do you know how tiresome your Christian chanting is, WPB? You are also utterly simpleminded in terms of your interpretation of the Bible. Like, for example, that Sodom and Gomorrah were allegedly destroyed because of man-on-man action, as opposed to, say, an intent to rape guests. Then there's your inane argument that we should use the sons of Ishmael for a guide ("of course Hamas and Hezbollah wouldn't bother this parade [sic] in the least bit"). I like the "of course," where you imply that your formidable intellect merely tosses of such an "obvious" conclusion to the peanut munching masses. Your conclude with an exhortation, based on your vast knowledge as a Christian (I suppose), that we should turn to God. On the positive side, at least we don't have to turn to his Son or that dive-bombing Pigeon.
60. Mike goes a'wordsmithing (58)
sk ,   USA   (07.23.06)
Mike sez: "these folks are not gay, they are homosexuals. Gay means happy and carefree, which these people are neither." sk sez: I am delighted that you pay such attention to diction. Most impressive--I can tell you are quite the reader. Nevertheless, the only people who are truly "happy and carefree" are the severely mentally retarded and those with lobotomies. But don't take my word for it. I am sure you have read Thoreau's Walden, you being such great reader, and will therefore know that "the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation."
