61. good to see peace loving people
Dan ,   Nykobing, Denmark   (07.23.06)
It's very nice to see that some Israelis also care about civilian Lebanese people. It's really a shame that noone in the conflict can see the other side of the conflict. Right-winged Israelis shouting "A good Arab is a dead Arab" is nothing better than Hitler saying "A good Jew is a dead Jew". It shocks me that some Israelis show so little sympathy with civilians, just because they are arabs and not israelis.
62. You can only describe many of them
aliza ,   zichron yaakov   (07.23.06)
as draft dodging drug addicts.
63. Ironic
Lauren ,   Israel   (07.23.06)
These people are protesting, in Tel Aviv of all places, about Israel defending its civilian population, but does anyone know of any of these activists who are actually helping the victims of the war? Nice to walk around screaming anti war slogans and demanding peace, but wait a second, aren't some of their friends, family etc. up in the north busting their asses to keep these peaceniks safe? The IDF is going through hell, while these idiots are bad mouthing them. I agree with # 2, send them straight up there and let them live the reality that the people of the north have been living through for years.
64. Traitors
Alex ,   Bat-Yam   (07.23.06)
Idiots. Hey, isn't there some "War Time" law, prohibiting such thing?
65. And Aloni was Rabin's choice for Education Minister!
Ben Avraham ,   Tel Aviv   (07.23.06)
66. Tel Aviv Rally
Bill Hutchinson ,   Hillsboro,Oregon USA   (07.23.06)
To #15: If they are so great then why don't you put your name to your opinion? I don't blame you for wanting to keep it a secret.
67. MERETZ VOTERS - NOW IS THE TIME TO REPENT
Aaron ,   Ra'anana   (07.23.06)
are you an israeli or are you a world socialist? you cannot be both.
68. We are with you
Jeremiah ,   USA   (07.23.06)
Kudos for your courage for protesting the barbarity of your government's policy. There are many Jews here in the U.S. who are with you. And to most of the posters on this thread who are so full of hate: look in the mirror. You have lost your soul.
69. don't understand
jack ,   willoughby US   (07.23.06)
free speech is a hallmark of a mature democracy; however, when a nation is at war, fighting for its survival, appeasement speech is cover for cowardice. yes, innocent civilians are being killed, but my question is, would these same people who are protesting be so vocal if their familes and friends were killed and/or maimed in major israeli cities? wake up -- if you do not fight, you will be pushed into the sea, is that what you want?
70. Standard Grauniad fair
Mike ,   Toronto Canada   (07.23.06)
If Israel put down their arms they woul;d be destroyed. If Hezbollah put down their arms Israel would immediately - with relief - stop the bombardment. Stupid Grauniad twits in London printing the earnest scribbling of a nice lefty Oxbridge woman is not what objective truth is about.
71. Clueless
David ,   Virginia, USA   (07.23.06)
They should be marching demanding the release of the kidnapped Israeli soldiers. Stand firm Israel. America stands with you. David
72. Demonstrators
Michael Fonda ,   Big Bear City, Ca.   (07.23.06)
Wow! I thought the USA had all the idiots! They live here and suck up all the goodies and at the same time, tell us how horrible our country is. Looks like you have the same bunch of morons there as well! Is this something genetic? Too much dope? In the water or food? Michael Fonda
73. How come they didn't protest yesterday
Tami ,   Netanya, IS   (07.23.06)
when there were some peaceful suicide terrorists roaming the streets of Tel Aviv? I think it is time for these people to move to Russia. Putin is preparing to turn it back into a communist country so there is no time like the present and take Bashara and the rest with you.
74. your brave country
gary colwell ,   Belfast. N.Ireland   (07.23.06)
I myself fought the I.R.A. as an ex soldier for ten yrs my friends dont give up like the british goverment they are cowards I respect the ISRAELI NATION .Iam a PROTESTANT MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. GOOD BLESS.
75. What a bunch of hate-filled people
US Guy ,   USA   (07.23.06)
and I don't mean the people for peace. Who would want to live in such a hateful country?
76. Defending Israel
Whitemoon G ,   High Point, NC USA   (07.23.06)
I am a middle aged American, totally goyim, from German ancestors 3 generations ago who emigrated to America. My father was in the US Army in the 1940's, in the units that landed on the beaches of Normandy, at great cost of young men's lives, to rid the world of the monstrous evil of Hitlerism. If I were younger, and didn't have a family that needs me to work almost continually to support us, I would consider it an honor to come to Israel and fight for it's defense, in any way they thought I could help. Shalom, and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
77. Thank you
alan ,   montreal   (07.23.06)
From a lebanese, a big thanks to all the demonstrators. If peace is possible between these 2 countries, it's because there are people like that.
78. i started out supporting
rick ,   montreal, canada   (07.23.06)
the operation ... but have come to feel depressed about the mass death we are inflicting on innocent people. yes, there are "evildoers" that dream of our annihilation, but they are not worth the cost of innocent blood spilled across lebanon. is our brand of extremism any lighter? we need to stop this bloody massacre, this affront on humanity, this collective punishment, and act like the chosen people we so arrogantly profess ourselves to be (and do unto others...) have mercy on innocent people, imagine their cries even more numerous than our own, wield power delicately rather than by wetting the appetites of the arab haters running the IDF. be the bigger man, don't use the excuse of hezbollah's lebanese hostage tactics be a reason to pulverize innocent lebanese. be tough, be decisive, but with extremely limited and defensive force... and if you believe that it cannot be done, then you simply doubt yourself, and you doubt the the spirit and universality of humanity and justice right down to the heart of the last terrorist.
79. Once peaceniks, always Hezbollahniks.
Márcia ,   Brazil   (07.23.06)
80. Israeli protestors
Phyllis Marcus ,   Hague, NY,USA   (07.23.06)
I guess the US does not have a monopoly on left wing loonies.
81. To lose one's soul
Scott ,   Portland, Oregon USA   (07.23.06)
When a nation evidently has lost civility, when too many intolerant voices howl for mass evictions and exterminations, believing coexistence impossible, it has lost its mind. The tragic spectacle is of Isreal on the road to losing its soul. These demonstrators are not traitors to any noble cause. I admire their courageous dissent among them, whether 50 or 5000. Healthy and viable nations need to entertain voices of dissent.
82. In support of the activists...
Anna ,   New York, USA   (07.23.06)
More power to the protesters. At least a few people have the guts to express an alternative perspective so perhaps the world cannot demonize all of Israel and all Jews. Civillian casualties in war are terrible - and Lebanon has endured ten times the number of Israel's dead thus far. Dissent, particularly in the current circumstances, is courageous. There is nothing traitorous about expresing one's conscience with regard to the morality of the actions of one's own government. And for all those who say that free speech is inappropriate in wartime (which we've heard plenty here in the USA while most of the world stands aghast at Bush's barbaric aggression), I'll quote Samuel Johnson: "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."
83. MIDDLE EAST HISTOY
DAN ,   ORLANDO,USA   (07.23.06)
YOU CAN HAVE ANY OPINION YOU WANT TO HAVE REGARDING THE CONFLICT AS LONG AS YOU HAVE READ HAL LINDSEYS BOOKS . IF YOU HAVE NOT THEN YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT AND YOU BECOME ANOTHER USEFUL FOOL
84. to Alan, the Lebanese in the Canada
Márcia ,   Brazil   (07.23.06)
Alan, Israel is not fighting Lebanon. Israel is fighting Hezbollah, a terrorist group charged with initiating the "sweep off Israel" operation by Iran and Syria. About 1000 rockets launched against Israel in eleven days.
85. Dangerous Communists Still Rule Russia
Bob ,   England   (07.23.06)
If that rabble protesting with their commie flags had got their way, we in the West & Israel would all be speaking Russian now if not being tortured in camps in Siberia, however the Red menace hasn't gone away, look at how the dictator Putin is arming the wests and israels enemies and egging on hezbollah, we should take out Moscow b4 they take us all out.
86. To #74
Bob ,   England   (07.23.06)
Well said mate, Blairs surrender to the IRA (Irish Runaway Army) scum was a total disgrace, just hope Israel has more guts to finish these terrorists, after all we in England still remember where all the semtex that the IRA used came from, mainly Iran & Libya and other pro-Soviet Arab Regimes.
87. Where is the Muslim condemnation.
Tom ,   Middleburg USA   (07.23.06)
After 911 some of America woke up to the evils of terrorism. George W. Bush decided that he would not allow this to happen again. He would not allow terror organizations to gather strength and infest the countries of the world like a cancer. This is all about the hate from Islamo Facist groups like Hezballah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al-Qaeda they are all allied against the Jews and the Western religions. Thank God that we realize now that this threat cannot be negotiated with, this threat must be exterminated for the good of all peoples. There is no difference in what is going on in Lebanon than what went on in Poland in the 30's however, thank God that today we have a President in the U.S. that stood up the the Nazism of the 21st Century. Bottom Line If you are in a state that that sponsors terrorists then you had better start rallying against them because if you cannot eradicate them Israel and the U.S. will be the cure.
88. #81 You make me laugh!
James ,   Cincy USA   (07.23.06)
Live with people whose charter is the destruction Israel and all its citizens? Would you invite Hezbollab and Hamas to live in your house? To kill your children and slit your throat with a signed charter to extiguish you and yours? Poeple like you will get more of us killed unless we learn from History.
89. Tel Aviv anti-war rally
Patrick Friesen ,   Casper, WY, USA   (07.23.06)
Regardless their nation of origin, leftists are leftists, and leftists seem ignorant of the fact that the free world was not made free by leftists; it was made free by those who understand that freedom and human rights are bestowed upon all mankind by God. As an American Christian, I fully support my Israeli brethrens' right to self preservation. May God bless both my country and yours.
90. Never thought of Jews as Dumb Before.
Mike Adams ,   Atlanta, Ga   (07.23.06)
Is it not obvious that this is a false flag operation both literally and figuratively? Yeah the protest leaders thought that red hammer and sickle flags would be seen in a positive light. So the Likudniks are running ineffective protests against themselves. Why am I not surprised? "By way of Deception"
