1. Road Map to Hell
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.23.06)
Israel went along with this disaster like a loyal little puppet on a leash. The Road Map master allows Israel a little time to deal with Hezbollah to soften Iran ....... but will he allow Israel to clean out his terrorist swamp creation in Gaza. Look at Iraq today and ask yourself Israel ;Why do you go along with the Bush Road Map to Hell ? It's not about peace but Israel's slow wearing down and destruction by the Quartet.
2. Influenced?
Talula ,   Israel   (07.23.06)
Interesting that Yuval Diskin makes the comparisson of how the Palestinians are deeply influenced by Israel's reaction to Hisbullah rocket attacks. I would think they would be more influenced by the Lebanese people and how they feel about Israeli missiles day in and day out, night in and night out. Afterall, they are on the other end of the same, and often.

4. It's too late
Constantine ,   New York USA   (07.23.06)
Longer range and more accurate rockets are being imported into Gaza. The balance of power is slowly changing. All the Palestinians need to see is how every day Israel's position "softens" when they can't even hold a single Lebanese village for more than 24 hours. So please Mr. Olmert time to lose your arrogance and negotiate with your equals.
5. States the problem - here's the solution
Roger ,   Courtney, CA   (07.23.06)
Nice to have someone step up and offer a synopsis of the problem without offering solutions. That's new. Here is a simple solution - guaranteed to work in the long run. It's the 10-100 solution. Israel sets a date when all rocket fire from Gaza must stop, and all fire and raids from Israel into Gaza will stop. No exceptions. After that date, for every rocket fired from Gaza into Israel 10 of similar or slightly larger strength will be fired into Gaza, targeted roughly in the general vicinity of the launch. After that date, any civilian life taken inside Israel will result in raids, drone attacks or other methods which will not be concluded until a minimum of 100 Palestinian terrorists are either killed or captured. How many weeks, months or years would it be until such a strategy would be guaranteed to work, if not simply due to natural numerical attrition? And it would be in the hands of the Palestinians to stop that attrition at any moment they wish. Foolproof.

7. GLOBAL ISLAMIC TERROR STATE ONE INSTALLED IN GAZA
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.23.06)
In Jewish land in exchange for war, Global Islamic Terror State One has been installed in Gaza with an Al Qaeda and Hizbullah presence. Iranian Revolutionary Guard units train Fatah and Hamas in the Jew-cleansed areas of Gaza. Since the Gaza surrender, more weaponry has been brought into Gaza in ten months than in the previous 38 years. In those ten months southern Israel has been hit with more than 5,000 Kassam rockets. In the land for war, Jew-cleansed areas of global terrorist paradise Gaza, IslamoFascist religious supremacists enjoy complete freedom to attack and fire a daily barrage of rockets on the defenseless Jewish civilians in Sderot and now Ashkelon. The U.S. EU, UN and Russia are determined to duplicate the success of Gaza with the installation of Road Map Global Islamic Terror State Two in Judea and Samaria and parts of Jerusalem, bringing Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Netanya, Ra'anana, Kfar Saba, Afula, Hadera, Tiberias and the international airport within rocket firing range of the Islamists. Will Jews continue to accept being murdered and never-ending war, or will they surround the Knesset and demand that their barbaric enemies are defeated? They call the war against the Jews the peace process.
8. The denizons of civilization

islam continues to prove that its only objective is the dehumanization of the world. And now that spain sweden and france have surrendered to al qaeda, they believe the rest of the world is not far behind. Once again, the Jews are at the forefront of the fight against evil - and we will triumph
9. The End of Palestine
Greg ,   Dallas TX USA   (07.23.06)
Well, so much for the "two-state solution" and "unilateral withdrawal." It's obvious that Israel will have to maintain tight control over the Palestinian territories for many years to come. It's a shame, but apparently the Arabs prefer to live in poverty and filth and to hold onto their myths and hatred, rather than live in peace with Israel. Welcome to the Prisons of Gaza and the West Bank. So be it.

15. Thinking "outside of the box"
Ibrahim ,   S. Arabia   (07.24.06)
I don't mean to offend anyone, but it seems that all solutions proposed assume that the present locations of Palestinians and Israelis are continued, which of course leads to continuing strife. Another present constant is the unambiguous commitment of entities to the destruction of Israel, which is something that does not go away, and can be taken out of the closet each time anyone feels the need to harm Israel. Thinking unemotionally, "outside of the box": The best solution would be to remove all the Palestinians that have any complaint with Israel, out of Israel (including Gaza and West Bank), and forget about a two-state solution. To relocate them in neighboring stable countries, Egypt, Jordan, as citizens, spread among the local populations, provided with homes and jobs, and for Israel and possibly other countries to give enough money to the accepting countries to accomplish this. This solution would move these people from where they have nothing or very little, to where they have more. It would eliminate the dangers from a high concentration of disenchanted people in one place, and the possibility that militants form a government and take arms and initiate actions that constantly destabilize the region. Again, I reiterate that this is a practical, non-emotional idea, that addresses the situation of today, and leaves out the emotional, arguable components, such as who has the right to the land, who lived there first, whom God promised it to, etc. ad nauseaum.

18. #15 not a bad idea...
Greg ,   Dallas TX USA   (07.24.06)
I've often thought that paying off the malcontents as an incentive for them to leave was a reasonable idea, since they seem to have no hesitation in sacrificing their young for a few thousand dollars. Unfortunately, the neighboring Arab countries don't want them either. Alternatively, the Western nations and Israel could set up a fund to pay the Arabs who want to stay with the contractual condition that if they engage in any belligerent activity aimed at Israel or at Jews anywhere, then their homes will be demolished and they will be immediately deported. Why not try it? Nothing else has worked so far.

I think it sounds liek a great idea. The problem, though, is that the Jordanians, Egyptians, Lebanese, and Syrians have refused to integrate the Palestinians in the past. So I'm not sure what would induce them to do so now. But in principle, I think it sounds good. Lots of people talk about Resolution 294 (? -- can't remember if I've got the number right, the one after '67) as though it only talks about a right of return. It doesn't. It actually replaced the earlier right of return with the option for Israel to compensate, and it further resolved that it was also the responsibility of other Arab states to absorb Palestinian refugees as citizens. Just like happens with refugees who go to other places. In truth, I'd be glad to see there be a Palestinian state. I have no problem with that. But if it can't create a viable economy and life for its people, and it does nothing but brainwash people so they can be sent out on suicide missions, then it doesn't deserve to exist. No doubt someone's going to come on here and tell me the Palestinians had a state, and it's now Israel. But it isn't true. By the way, the Syrians and Iranians aren't even remotely interested in a Palestinian state. The Syrians regard all of Israel, the WEst Bank, Gaza, Jordan, and Lebanon to be rightfully part of Syria. The Iranians see the Palestinians as Arabs and resent their government sending piles of money to them. Anyway, excuse me rambling here. I think it's an interesting idea.

Yes, the issue of WHY Egypt or Jordan do not want the Palestinians is an old one, and could be looked at in today's context. Before, I am certain that many Arab countries WANTED the Palestinians miserable, angry, poor, and stateless: Good indirect weapon against Israel, and constant supply of idiots (suicide bombers). But, now, we have a new situation: Lebanon in shambles, Hizbullah out, and especially and most importantly, an Israel that at long last is bold and decisive. This means that threatening Israel due to abuses against Palestinians will not bring about the old type of results, i. e land for peace, work permits, etc. It means Israel will probably shrug its shoulders, and if attacked, retaliate ferociously. In short, miserable, poor, illiterate Palestinians may now have lost their usefulness '"outside agitating interests". To make my point: Destitute Palestinians were only useful as long as Israel was relatively accomodating. So the pressure to bear could be exerted on countries that can accept Palestinians without the INEVITABLE overcrowing of Israel (hardly anyone is looking 20 years down the road, when Gaza and West Bank will be too small for the increasing Arab population they will contain). And, about the Palestinians, I meant it differently: not "paying THEM to leave": they would take the money, stay, and use the money to fight Israel. I meant, they would be forced to leave-the money would be given to the accepting countries. Even though none of this seems easy, it seems easier than trying to remedy the present situation, for the simple fact that its roots are too deep, especially ideologically. Instead of the UN maintaining forces, sending humanitarian assistance and all that, they could enable the moving, and provide responsible, transparent accounting that Israel can confirm. Sure, it would be a shockingly new way to deal with the problem, but something truly effective and lasting is needed.

Hello Ibrahim, The trouble with your solution is that Jordan and Egypt to not want any Palestinians. The Palestinians currently living in Jordan, are all in refugee camps, the Jordanian government, it seems, refuses to allow them to integrate into their society. Jordan is historically the home of the Palestinians, not Israel. And, Egypt, REFUSED to take back Gaza. It's not an easy solution. And, in the meantime, Israel is expected to find the solution.

Ibrahim ,   S. Arabia   (07.24.06)
Yes, it would be nice to see the Palestinians have their own state theoretically, but it is a utopia, and a very dangerous one (my opinion): A Palestinian "state" will be "ground" from which to attack Israel, recruit suicide bombers, and try to exercise control over, like Iran and Syria do with Lebanon. It will become the prime terrorist center of the world, a lightning rod. And, in a Palestinian "state" there will ALWAYS be people who will think that ALL of the Israeli land should be theirs=strife just like now. The Palestinians will not live in peace voluntarily. They know nothing other than "Hate Israel". As long as they live bunched up together, they reinforce each other. It has become a way of being for them, that permeates every aspect of their life. Separated, spread among stable Arab societies might be the only thing that can remind them how to be human again. It would prevent all the present activities, i. e recruiting, tunnel-digging, running around with weapons, conspiring. They would have a country's law over them, whereas in their own state...don't make me laugh... The signs are there right now... Fattah, Hammas, etc etc ; a big number of rag-tag militias fighting one another and undermining each other. They can't even live and negotiate with EACH OTHER, let alone with other countries, or have an economy..... It amazes me that no public person speaks about what will happen as populations increase, say in 20 years, and the borders of Gaza and West Bank cannot hold that many people. Is it something that everyone wants to ignore, and leave it for the next generation to solve?
