2. Bibi having trouble justifying Israel
Stacie ,   Canada   (07.25.06)
I have never seen Benjamin Netanyahu fumble and stutter like I've seen him on CNN today. Watch for Condy stuttering when she gets back. Smart Americans find no logic in supplying Israel with bombs and Lebanon with money to rebuild. The Lebanese civilian massacre and destruction of infrastructure isn't working for anybody and must be stopped.
3. Solution: Destruction of Hziballah.
Mark ,   Usa   (07.25.06)
No Hziballah must left behind. Destroy all rockets even if they are in civilian areas. Allow civilians to leave and then go in and destroy all of Hizballah targets.Go deep into Lebanon.
4. #2 the infrastructure is destroyed
Mark ,   Usa   (07.25.06)
The IDF is doing an excellent job and must continue to destroy all terror targets. This is not a time to get soft. This is war and war is ugly.
5. Rice and the "humanitarian situation"
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (07.25.06)
She "expressed concern for the humanitarian situation in Lebanon" - i.e. she fell for the big con trick - but apparently expressed no concern for the far more serious humanitarian disaster in northern Israel. Is Rice unaware of this? Did Livni not put her wise? Or does she just not care?
6. UN against Hizbullah for the first time
Ibrahim ,   S. Arabia   (07.25.06)
I am certain that when Americans saw the "Breaking News" highlighted sentence just now -"U.N. Chief Calls Hezbollah 'Cowards' for Blending With Refugees"- they said "Duh!!!" Who knows how many diplomats forced Jan Egeland to finally name things with their real names. My question is "How and why the UN never said it before?" But, don't let me indulge in irony, better SO late than never-it's a very good thing that it was said, on the record. This was the first time that a statement like this was presented in international news as top headline. So it is not just the UN, but the media too that for a moment stopped concentrating on their beloved subject, injured Lebanese children (implying that they hurt more and bleed more than Israeli children?!!).
7. Rice you are one true Human Being!
(07.25.06)
God will reward you greatly!
8. Two views
Dave ,   Arizona, USA   (07.25.06)
To Canadians, it is just a Television show. To Israelis, it is life or death.
9. the doublefaced UN
observer ,   poland   (07.25.06)
why all members of UN want the resolution 1559 ,while all of them forgot about other resolutions as 194 & 242 for example
10. Thank you Ibrahim and Dave

RIGHT ON .......Ibrahim , S. Arabia ..
12. #2: Massacre? How bout Genocide by Hizbollah?
Yonatan ,   Los Angeles   (07.25.06)
Do you realize Hizbollah is attempting genocide against the Jews? That they hide missles and bombs in Lebanese orphanages and hospitals? Of course, that's Israel's fault too, right? Better leave the Reform movement before they completely brain wash you.
13. Don't Praise Rice
kenstee ,   USA   (07.25.06)
Just to get the record straight it isn't Rice you should be praising. Much as I hate to say it your praise should be for George Bush. Rice's initial comments when this all started were for compromise and restraint on Israel's part. Only after Bush came out with his unqualified statements about Israel's right to self defense did Rice change her tune. Left to her own she is not to be trusted. Bush for all his faults is on the right side of this issue.
14. Kofi Annan will soon be gone
Ibrahim ,   S. Arabia   (07.25.06)
I will never know for certain why Kofi Annan was the UN Secretary-General for 10 years. I suspect because he was a coward, never confronting what he should, as he should, head on. Maybe he was afraid the "confrontees" would not smile at him any more. But, he wasted the UNIQUE position and opportunity he had to speak truthfully and forcefully about many of the bad things going on on this earth. Condoleezza Rice's words "Goal of Hizbullah is to set the world aflame and we will not let them succeed" should have been Kofi Annan's words about Hizbullah. Proposition 1559's non-enforcement should have been one of Kofi Annan's big fights-he could have and should have made it big news-was he indifferent, forgetful, or a coward? All three are bad. When I was emailing the UN a few days ago, I was wondering if there were many other people doing the very same thing, for the very same reasons. I hope the new UN head on Jan. 1st will be the oposite of Kofi Annan, and will help me forget that in my mind, I think of the UN as AN ( Appeasing Nations).
15. to #12
Kareem ,   Egypt   (07.25.06)
Who doesn't want Genocide of 'Israelis' apart from the US and the leaders G.W.Bush bribes? ur just lucky u got Bush wrapped around ur fingers...coz without the US..ur just a bunch of so-called guerillas..but enough of that...what I want u to know is..Israel will not live a day without war..because as long as Israel exists..so will the haters of Israel.and more groups will Form..u've only seen Al-Qaeda, Hizbollah, Hamas, Fateh, and the Aqsa Brigade..one day..u won't have any civilians wanting to live in 'no-man's-land' as it will be. if u think that winning the war against hisbollah is a success..u've got it all wrong...watch out
16. #2 Stacie
Betty ,   USA   (07.25.06)
I don't know what interview you were watching, but I was as impressed with his demeanor as always. Israel is defending herself against terrorists who seek to harm her and her citizens. Unfortunately, innocents in Lebanon are being killed, but that is war, Given the choice between our civilians being killed or theirs, I have to choose theirs.
17. To Kareem
California Bear ,   Berkeley, USA   (07.25.06)
Israel is not the problem Kareem, you want to know the real problem, it's a virulent, hate-filled cult. I believe you call it Islam. Extremist Islam has been around before Israel and will be here until the day of the Lord. You talk about the proliferation and spawning of the haters of Israel... so be it... evil will grow and so will the number of those who are willing to fight against it. Those who would deny the Jewish people the right to live in their indigenous homeland and are willing to use violence to meet that objective will be met on the battlefield under the banner of the falsehood of "Allah". They will be utterly destroyed.
18. Livnii for PM

Livni for PM
19. #2 Smart Americans ???
Peter Morris ,   New Zealand   (07.25.06)
Wow are you saying there are smart Americans? Like the American taxpayer hold up in South Lebanon whose tax dollars are being spent on bombs being dropped on her. I guess at least thats why the bombs are called smart bombs if not the Americans.
20. re:#12
valerie ,   ottawa, ontario   (07.25.06)
I just couldn't believe my eyes while I was reading the postings on this site. How fast Israelis have forgotten the treatment they received from Nazis. Oops! My mistake: Israel did not exist at that time! The whole territory belonged to Palestinians until 1948, when an UN resolution decided to create the jewish state of Israel, right? In 1967, Israel used war, killings, depossessions of Arabs to get more territories, right? Right now, Israel is holding more than 4,000 Palestinians, and hundreds of Lebanese as prisoners (some for years), right? Hezbollah is holding ONLY two Israelis soldiers, right? Who is killing children, destroying bridges, milk plants, displacing thousands of people? Is that Israel or the Hezbollah? To me, after what it went through during WWII, the Jewish people should never inflict the same thing on others. Why all these lies about defending Israel, defending the US? Did we forget the teachings of the Bible and the Torah? Do we think that God will not punish us for the crimes of supporting Israel in its genocides of Lebanese and Palestinians, both Christians and Muslims? We need to be more open-minded, to learn more about what is really going on in the World, what are the real objectives of our so-called leaders before praising the killings of innocent children in Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq, to name only the obvious ones.
21. to #12 and others idiots
Robert Tilden ,   Sheridan, WY   (07.25.06)
You are so fustrated by waring with Israel when you don't even have control of your own government. You are a powerless little man. You can't even get Mubarak to repersent you. Keep on with your pathetic ranter while Israeli companies are the third largist group in NASDAQ, Israel produces more scientific papers per capita than any other nation - 109 per 10,000 people, as of 28 July 2005, was $20,551.20 per person (42nd in the world). Only Quatar and Bahrain are higher in all the arab -muslim world, Keep on doing good work in being successful.
22. #6 UN flying pig moment
Alex ,   Israel   (07.25.06)
Ibrahim, I saw that "miracle" too.I said "Duh!". It's a pity this voice of sanity will be (most likely) drown in seething from juhadists in the UN.
23. 15
Talula ,   ISRAEL   (07.25.06)
Very tough words coming from someone who lives in a country that attacked Israel and lost. Very tough words coming from someone who lives in a country that saw the only solution with Israel was to sign a peace treaty. Good decision. Seems your government didn't want to watch out all the time. It took the smart option. Idiot!
24. #2 massacre?
Jennifer Teff ,   Nahariya Israel   (07.25.06)
Stacie, Getting bombed out of my home "doesn't work for me and must be stopped". The only reason more Israelis aren't getting killed is because they are in bomb shelters 24/7 or have fled. How would you suggest that we get Nasrallah to stop attacking us? Do you think that he would stop if we asked him really nicely?!? What is your problem with infrastructure - you aren't suggesting that we leave the infrastructure alone and concentrate on killing people? If Israel wanted to kill civilians, we would have killed many many more by now.
25. To Kenstee, Yes a GOD BLESS BUSH is definitely in order!!!
Judith ,   Haifa   (07.25.06)
Also G-d bless Condoleezza rice, Tony Blair, Hillary Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the rest of the beautiful people in the USA and Europe who are supporting Israel and the free world, including some of our Arab neighbors (including free- Lebanon.org, Saudi Arabia, Pres. Mubarak and King Abdullah) who understand the threat to us all. P.S. I wish to extend my condolences to all families who have lost loved ones in this war. I hope we can mend and heal and make real peace with Lebanon.
26. RE:#20 check your facts
BigBoy ,   Tassie, Australia   (07.25.06)
WRONG: Check your facts the Jews were always in that region first, see below: Around the year 1010 B.C.E., King David defeated the Jebusites in Jerusalem "After Solomon died in 931 B.C.E., a civil war led to a split in the Israelite nation. Jerusalem became part of the southern kingdom of Judah, while ten of the northern tribes formed the new kingdom of Israel. That kingdom lasted until 722 B.C.E., when it was conquered by the Assyrians. So as i see it 1010 B.C.E is before 1948 RIGHT? On your second point again you are WRONG! Dont forget the countdown to the 1967 war: On May 15, Israel's Independence Day, Egyptian troops began moving into the Sinai and massing near the Israeli border. By May 18, Syrian troops were prepared for battle along the Golan Heights. Nasser ordered the UN Emergency Force (UNEF), stationed in the Sinai since 1956 as a buffer between Israeli and Egyptian forces after Israel’s withdrawal following the Sinai Campaign, to withdraw on May 16. Without bringing the matter to the attention of the General Assembly (as his predecessor had promised), Secretary-General U Thant complied with the demand. After the withdrawal of the UNEF, the Voice of the Arabs radio station proclaimed on May 18, 1967: As of today, there no longer exists an international emergency force to protect Israel. We shall exercise patience no more. We shall not complain any more to the UN about Israel. The sole method we shall apply against Israel is total war, which will result in the extermination of Zionist existence. An enthusiastic echo was heard May 20 from Syrian Defense Minister Hafez Assad: Our forces are now entirely ready not only to repulse the aggression, but to initiate the act of liberation itself, and to explode the Zionist presence in the Arab homeland. The Syrian army, with its finger on the trigger, is united....I, as a military man, believe that the time has come to enter into a battle of annihilation." Israel in 1967 only attacked because war was imminent and as you know achieving suprise in a battle is an essential element. No normal people want war but being surrounded by groups who want your ultimate destruction is always going to lead to war. What would you have the Israeli’s do? Leave and live somewhere else? Does that mean you will leave Canada for its traditional owners the Inuit Eskimo's? Please keep an open mind when thinking about this situation. What would you do if the Inuit from the north were firing rockets in to down town Ottawa?
27. Israel an eternal kingdom... to #20
(07.25.06)
Sorry just because they were exiled temporarily does not mean they did not exist as a nation and a people. Your reasoning doesn't add up. Israel has lived in Israel for thousands of years and it is well know that Israel will live on that strip of land as an eternal kingdom. Looks like you who want to move Israel are fighting a lost cause, I mean besides an evil one…
