Finally one minister understands that this war is totally vain. I just heard that the biggest US partner, Saudi Arabia, without which oil prices would reach thousands of dollars... the Saudi Arabia King is threatening to start an overall war into the Middle East if we don't stop the war. STOP WAR NOW!
2.  There is no need to release Lebanese prisoners held by ...
mike ,   UK   (07.25.06)
" There is no need to release Lebanese prisoners held by Israel because there aren't any, perhaps a few, solitary ones. " There either is or there isn't. Lets try and establish some facts. Clearly there is, otherwise Hizbollah wouldnt have kidnapped your soldiers.
3. "we will also build deterrence"
Reuven ,   Bet Shemesh   (07.25.06)
And this from the man who so foolishly prophesized the advent of the New Middle East when he capitulated to terrorists by signing the Oslo Accords.
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.25.06)
Terrorist Hizbullah is a member of Lebanon's government, with seats in the cabinet. Lebanon's government colluded with Hizbullah in unprovoked, vicious acts of war against Israel. Aggressor Lebanon is showered with aid and sympathy. No aid is offered to victim Israel. Israel the victim - ferociously attacked with one million Jews endangered and in bomb shelters, has sustained substantial damage. Israel's tourism industry has been drastically affected. Hizbullah has purposely embedded themselves in densely populated civilian areas in Lebanon. Warmongers Hizbullah, their backers Iran and Syria, and Lebanon's government share sole responsibility for causing all of the damage wrought in Lebanon and Israel. They must be made to pay Israel for all the destruction! Every nation has the right to defend her citizens. Rabid Jew-haters continuously seek to deny Israel the basic human right of survival. The Innocent Bystander Myth Evelyn Gordon, THE JERUSALEM POST July 20, 2006 ...Far from being smuggled in without the government's knowledge, weapons earmarked for Hizbullah arrived openly in Beirut Airport almost every week - and the airport, unlike southern Lebanon, is fully controlled by the government and the Lebanese army. Yet the government never ordered the army to confiscate these shipments. Regular arms shipments also came overland from Syria. Yet these, too, passed openly and without hindrance through border crossings controlled by the Lebanese government. The Lebanese army has even openly assisted Hizbullah during the past week's fighting. Hizbullah's successful missile strike on an Israeli naval vessel Friday night, for instance, would have been impossible had the army's radar stations not given Hizbullah the ship's coordinates. Hizbullah does not have radar stations of its own. Far from repudiating Hizbullah's attacks on Israel, the Lebanese government has actively defended, facilitated and assisted them at every turn. There are thus no grounds for treating it as an innocent party in this conflict....

7. why did you keep their prisoners?
Raya ,   West Bank   (07.25.06)
Why did you keep the Lebenese prisoners when you pulled back from Lebanon??? You might say that their hands are full of your blood but so is your hands Mr. Peres if you still remember Qana. I think its time for all sides in this crazy conflict to realize that you will only live in peace when you give your neighbors their peace.
8. Few Prisoners
Ellie ,   Lebanon   (07.25.06)
Perez said:"There is no need to release Lebanese prisoners held by Israel because there aren't any, perhaps a few, solitary ones. That also applied on Israel, there are no Israeli prisoners in Lebanon, just two filthy terrorist from the Israeli Terrorist Force (ITF)
9. Lebanese Radio Stations CELEBRATED WAR Against Israel
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.25.06)
How I spent my summer vacation Caroline Glick, THE JERUSALEM POST July 17, 2006 "... All day Thursday Lebanese radio stations played military marches. Announcers made repeated statements invoking Allah, Lebanon, mujahadin and jihad. Clearly, they were thrilled that the long anticipated war had begun..." Israel has sustained hundreds of wounded civilians from the terrorist attacks from Lebanon. Ambassador Dan Gillerman stated before the UN Security Council: "...Many of the long-range missiles that have hit Israeli towns - including Nahariya, Zefat, Rosh Pina and the port city of Haifa - were launched from private homes with families residing inside, where a special room was designated as a launching pad, with the family playing host to the missile..."
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.25.06)
Lebanon was a Christian country until Muslims achieved a majority through an extremely high birthrate. The jihad against Lebanon's Christians was savage and barbaric. The IDF was the only hope for the embattled Christians. Click on Photo gallery: 20,000 Christians handicapped by PLO atrocities. PLO terrorists were rewarded for their savagery and mass murder of Christians by implanting them into Israel as TERRORIST "peace" partners through Oslo to continue barbaric jihad. The Christians of Damour, Lebanon treated Muslims from surrounding areas free of charge in their hospital. The PLO and other terrorists repaid the Christian kindness with barbaric savagery: The Massacre and Destruction of Damour 'The attack took place from the mountain behind. It was an apocalypse. They were coming, thousands and thousands, shouting 'Allahu Akbar! God is great! Let us attack them for the Arabs, let us offer a holocaust to Mohammad 'And they were slaughtering everyone in their path, men, women and children.' Whole families were killed in their homes. Many women were gang-raped..." Satanic acts were perpetrated on Damour Christians.
11. Is Peres "ready to negotiate" with Hizbullah?
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (07.25.06)
The presence of Hizbullah in the Lebanese government indicates that it is a terrorist government, despite the absurd attempts that have been made to decouple the government from Hizbullah and laughably present it as a democracy. Israel must not negotiate with a government that includes terrorists. It has adopted this policy with regard to the Palestinian territories, so why should Lebanon be subject to different rules?
12. To LINDA RIVERA, bla bla bla
Truth hurts   (07.25.06)
Are you part of that group who is trying to justify Israels killing of hundreds of innocent Lebanese civillians and destroying vital infrastructure, by posting the same boring, repetitive and incoherent comments? Time to find some new material LINDA, maybe about the Iraq occupation by US forces, and the 100 innocent civillians that are dying each day because of US democracy and freedom or was it WMD.
13. Shimon,Shimon,You're always ready ?
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.25.06)
The current prime minister, Ehud Olmert, is cut from the Peres cloth, and as soon as he became Prime Minister the most urgent job of his administration became the cleansing of the Jews of the West Bank. If he waited at all, the growing violence in Post-Disengagement Gaza might act as an argument, in the minds of Israelis, against further cleansing of patriotic Jews from strategic ground subsequently yielded to antisemitic terrorists. That might begin to seem like a bad idea. So there was a short window of opportunity. But the deranged mob of Hamas and Hezbollah, it seems, got too crazy too fast, naturally because they sense the weakness in a Jewish state that rushes headlong to commit suicide (this is the inherent instability in the strategy: it tends to produce overconfidence in the overeager hounds of death). So the antisemites got too violent in the south, too quickly, and then also in the north, and what happened is that the Israeli officers who wanted to do something about all this naturally got the upper hand, forcing even Ehud Olmert’s administration to move against Hezbollah. All those carefully laid plans… So what the United States is doing with its hurried proposal for a NATO intervention is, once again, rushing in to save Hezbollah.[17] And Oslo. Because if this violence is not quickly stopped, ordinary Israelis may get too scared, and then they will cease all cooperation with the Oslo extermination process and take their government back into their own hands. This is delicate! Now, look again at these two newspaper quotes (from above) concerning the Arab reaction to Hezbollah’s attack, and pay close attention to what the Arab elites are saying to Hezbollah. “State-backed newspapers in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt have reiterated the government line that Hezbollah is guilty of ‘a miscalculation.’”[18] “Saudi Arabia, with Jordan, Egypt and several Persian Gulf states, chastised Hezbollah for ‘unexpected, inappropriate and irresponsible acts’ at an emergency Arab League summit meeting in Cairo on Saturday.”[19] Does it give you a chill? A prediction ____________ Hamas and Hezbollah will be thoroughly demonized, but neither organization will be destroyed and if there is a NATO intervention it will protect Hezbollah, and the Hezbollification of Lebanon. The PLO will burnish its image as the ‘partner for peace’ by being on its ‘best’ behavior during this crisis, and if the Oslo process can be revived it will be, with the PLO but without Hamas (at least formally). Get ready...for the rebirth of the PLO. For part 1 of this eyeopener see;
14. The First Disengagement War
Ehud ,   Rosh Pina   (07.25.06)
Don't take very serious what Peres said. He and Olmert (and Sharon/Barak) started The First Disengagement War, and we will have to finish it by removing Hizbulla.

16. How about mentioning G-d's help Shimmie?
AB ,   The Rock   (07.25.06)
Everytime one of these politicians pats themselves on the back for all the victories that G-d - not the army made for us some tragedy occurs such as our solidiers being killed by friendly fire or helicopter crashes. If you're going to say that we won against armies that were mightier than we were and we still won that means those were miracles. Say it LOUD AND CLEAR - G-D SAVES US ALL THE TIME. Give credit where it's due.

19. S.Perez is right
J.A. ,   Toronto Canada   (07.25.06)
Perez is right. There is no other country like Israel. It is the only country that was established upon a UN resolution. It is a country that appeared all of a sudden. Only few decades ago, no such country existed at all. Israel is unique because its army is the only one in the entire world that destroys people, trees, crops and animals. Israel did not do anything itself. It did everything with the blind aid of those who established it, and they will continue to do so as long as Israel serves their purposes and be their forefront base in the Middle East. When Peres talks about the Arab countries condemning Hizbollah, he needs to be specific. Hizbollah was condemned by 3 Arab puppets, and they only did so to maintain the deluxe positions they illegally hold for a long, long time. S.Perez, being a Noble Prize recipient should be militating for the peace instead of joining war councils and adding fuel anytime he speaks.

sk ,   USA   (07.25.06)
Uh, if NATO is put there, that will be because the US doesn't want the UN there. One big problem with G-W is his peculiar view that the US would be capable of having a coherent and consistent foreign policy across the decades. And, if it did, that this view would consist almost entirely of Israel-related matters. Think about the situation from the current US perspective. Bush (and America) want regime change in Iran. But there is plenty of objection to another military campaign. Bush knows that Iraq cannot succeed if Iran remains as it is (not that Iraq will necessarily succeed anyway). So the problem: how to have a war with Iran without starting a war with Iran? Now I'm not saying this whole thing was planned with this objective in mind. I'm just saying that my view at least squares with real US top-priority interests.

I have to remove cookies to post here now ,ynet is blocking most of my posts now ,a few get thru. The U.S. policy has always been in play against Israel with U.S. State department policy in favor of the larger Arab league interests. It's evident that by President Bush's Road Map agenda that the Palestinian terrorist have been rewarded and Israel weakened. It's always easy for the evil forces of darkness to decieve the niave. Bush is the rider on the white horse of Revelation 6 who brings not peace but the rider on the red horse

Pnina ,   Israel from USA   (07.25.06)
In all of Israel's history, no one single individual has done it as much harm as Shimon Peres. He showed what it was early in his career. Moshe Sharett wrote that he dreaded the chance that Peres would ever have power. Golda loathed him so much she would not let him ride in the same elevator with her. He has been Prime Minister three times WITHOUT EVER BEING ELECTED. One of his big political tricks has always been known as The Stinking Maneuver. He invented the Oslo Disaster and pushed it onto the weak-willed Rabin. All of Israel's tribulations and losses in the wake of Oslo are on Peres' evil head. His support, bringing the Labor Party with him, enabled Sharon to push through the lunatic Gaza plan. And yet he goes on and on and on making as much trouble as he can.
