1. What the enemy lack in technology
John ,   NZ   (07.26.06)
are made up with deception and anything below the belt. Israel can only win this war by killing the real terrorists and their leaders and not civilians.
2. artillery
nachson   (07.26.06)
why did israel not flatten bint jbeil.why did israel send soldiers into the town? civilians should have been asked to leave.
3. It's our government's responsibility to dispell myths about
Proud Grandpa ,   www.KingArik.com   (07.26.06)
the capabilites of IDF. Problem is our government believes in those myths, and we now see what happens. I'm sure that Sharon knew full well why it was dangerous to react as Olmert did. And we now all see - how many times we've been surprised by the capabilites of Hezbollah and how many times we are astonished to learn how difficult it is to fight such an enemy. It is F R I G H T E N I N G to see what happens to our soldiers when they have the task of confronting Hezbollah soldiers on a ground battle.
4. release him
rafi ,   san fransisco u.s.a.   (07.26.06)
isn't time now more than ever that pres. bush pardon jonathan pollard and release him to live his life in israel ?
5. public will to win given harsh reality
Eric Kossian ,   usa   (07.26.06)
The problem is so recurring that it is wearysome to the heart. Israel public must determine to never give up and accept the reality that the enemy is committed too. Conventional wisdom: the persons with the bigger determination wins; but thankfully the history of israel is the story of the all powerful G-d of redemption for his undeserving people. May G-d arise and his enemies be scattered! Is. chapt 17
6. Their own land
Jack ,   France   (07.27.06)
The reason behind Hezbollah performance is simply: They have nothing to loose. They are desperate and better they are attached to their land and reason to be. The way to win on them is simple: Leave them alone and give them what they want.it is not too much..they will vanish like magic. Someone should take this advise in consideration....or keep war on.
7. how unexpected
(07.27.06)
No one doubted that Israel can inflict great damage in Lebanon. Heck, they can nuke Lebanon and be done with it. The question is what comes next? Lebanese seething with rage STILL on Israeli border - you are still going to have a Lebanese border, guys. The world "shocked and awed" by the tremendous destruction and civilian casualties in Lebanon. What positive developments do you see at the end of this operation?
8. A long hard fought war...
Marc Hamil ,   New York, USA   (07.27.06)
Israel has the General knows has been fighting for some time now. If one goes way back to pre-state Israel the first Israel defense forces used guerilla tactics against the Arabs and it was effective. Now Israel is a state and has a large army but the warfare has not changed. Israel ALSO must resort to these tactics and fight these enemy the way they fight us...DIRTY! We should also use hit and run tactics on them and not fall into their traps. So not fear because Israel will Prevail. It just will be costly and take time.
9. To Jack in France
Allan ,   london   (07.27.06)
Erm, Jack. Hizbollah is backed by Iran and Syria. Lebanon is not their land at all, they are simply using Lebanon to get to Israel and the US. As for your discussion, perhaps you should look at the history and try working out that Israel withdrew from Lebanon so it really has nothing to do with the land. As Israel gave it back to them. The reason Hizbollah and Hamas exists is to spread the Muslim Brotherhood and their sick version of Islam.
