What a stupid way of conducting war!
5. Stop the war NOW! No More dead soldiers and civilians!
Danny Levi ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.26.06)
When will Olmert realize he's doing the same mistakes of the first Lebanon War? Only when we count hundreds of dead soldiers? Read here and see how Olmert is dragging us to the same mistakes of the first Lebanon War of 1982, one by one: http://www.israel-chronicles.org/lebanon1982.htm It's impossible to solve this conflict by force! A diplomatic solution is required NOW ! Before we lose another life! Olmert, please: Stop sacrifying soldiers for your vanity! Admit you made a mistake when you sent our troops right to the trap the Hezbollah prepared for them! And pull out our ground forces today! Losing more soldiers will not bring peace and stability to Israel. It will only boost Hezbollah's morale.
6. lost
Jacquot ,   Tal Aviv   (07.26.06)
God bless them
7. Do you think Israel will win?
(07.26.06)
No matter what happens to Hizbollah after this war, do you think Israel can ever claim that she won? .... I hightly doubt this!! Why the Israeli soldiers cannot face some Hizbollah fighters? If Israeli soldiers are fighting Hizbollah in Lebanese territories, would they be called terrorists? would Israel be called an invader? Good luck for the just, and I wish the worst to the unjust.
8. Close Quarters
Bob A. Bouie   (07.26.06)
The fighting is at close quarters, which nullifies air and artillery support. It's mano a mano, folks, and it looks like the Hezbollah fighters are getting their pound of flesh from the IDF infantry. Wars are won on the ground and it looks like Hezbollah owns it. To bad.
9. CARPET BOMB BINT JBEIL ALREADY!!!!!
Michael Steiner   (07.26.06)
The Lebanese civilians had been warned and most had fled the place already anyway. Even if they hadn't, who cares anymore?! So, carpet bomb the damn place, flatten it, obliterate it! WHY are our young heros getting killed there when it could all be taken care of from the air??? AM YISRAEL KHAI!!!
10. Town should flattened
Jason   (07.26.06)
This town should have been leveled, especially since leaflets have been dropped by the IDF for days already. Instead more Israeli soilders are put at risk in house to house searches so that civilians aren’t killed etc. Yet Israel gets slammed by the world for “targeting” civilians. If this was any western army the town would have been leveled.
11. battle casualties
jaykay ,   nyc usa   (07.26.06)
to IDF! Forget about your image as professional! You're fighting a guerilla war! Don't get cokky! Even if you think you passified an area. You didn't! Your relaxing your guard anywhere in Lebanon even for a moment might cost you your life!
12. recognize and stop everything
steph ,   france   (07.26.06)
at least you recognize, what are you waiting for calling to stop everything instead of bringing lies and stupid testimonies such as this poor soldier in the hospital ?! It is time to stop blood an anger, with an immediate cease fire and the beginning of negociations with lebanese hezbollah and palestinian people ! Why are you so blind ??
13. flatten Bint Jbeil
BS meter ,   Canada   (07.26.06)
there's nobody in it by this point but enemies. Why risk ground troops? Not worth it in the least.
14. BEST AIRFORCE IN THE WORLD
(07.26.06)
PLEASE USE IT! OUR SOLDIERS ARE TOO PRECIOUS!!!!!
15. NO MORE GROUND TROOPS!
(07.26.06)
BY AIR ONLY! MINIMIZE THE LOSS OF OUR HEROIC SOLDIERS!
16. That is so sad.
Giselle   (07.26.06)
I feel terribly sorry for the soldiers' families. I wish Israel luck, hopefully they will stop the terrorists from destroying the free world.
17. Please...pullout...Olmert resign
Dani ,   NY, USA   (07.26.06)
We can't afford more dead soldiers in foreign lands.... Olmert, this is dishonorable and shameful, you should be taken to court for your arrogance that brought all of this to us. You should have a good answer to all the families of the dead. Very disgraceful to Israel
18. A question
Ali ,   Ramallah- Palestine   (07.26.06)
I am wondering if there is any of the Israeli governments members' sons or daughters are fighting there in S. Lebanon??? Like George W Bush, the Israeli government is using their people to fight and to be killed for NOTHING. Thanks to Dani Lavi who realized the TRUTH.
19. Bomb
Ga'ash ,   FL   (07.26.06)
Forget about civilian casualties. Israel's duty is to protect first and foremost the lives of ISRAEL's civilians and soldiers. I agree, bomb the entire village, spare no one, and then bomb them some more.
20. 8 soldiers killed to save the building.Shame
e.m ,   s.f   (07.26.06)
Despite they knew the Hezbollah are in that building .Why the air force did not bombs the building? Use the air force and destroys all the building and save the life of our soldiers. Why it is ok to destroy the building in s.Beirut and here not? What kind of strategist it that?
21. I wonder what Jews will do without IAF?
Palestinian   (07.26.06)
Total failures of course!
22. Take the gloves off. Stop being nice.
Ken Quinn ,   Amsterdam   (07.26.06)
23. WRONG , WRONG AGAIN -- AIR ATTACKS FIRST !!!!!!!!!
AVINU   (07.26.06)
MASSIVE AIR STRIKES FIRST +FAE BOMBS FIRST !!!!!!!!!!
24. Probably have already carpet bombed the place but...
ps ,   Athens,Greece   (07.26.06)
Carpet bombing is not always the answer for an entreched and determined guerilla force on urban fighting. Stop fooling urselves that IDF has not carped bombed the place (even the UN personel had a taste of indiscriminate bombing), it has probably already does but things can always go as you expect them to go. war is a tough thing u know.
25. to #12
bf ,   NY   (07.26.06)
You are blind yourself... Who do you call blind?
26. it's tragic but the idf needs to go on
(07.26.06)
27. you're fighting guys who killed over 200 marines in sleep
(07.26.06)
28. Bint J'bil
BULLDOZER ,   Hospital Room, ISR   (07.26.06)
It seems to me that the mighty IDF is fighting not lose "world opinion" rather than to vanquish and destroy her enemies. There is absolutely no reason, especially in the first 9 days of Av to put soldiers at even greater risk by conducting house to house searches and combat. The IDF did not learn its lessons in Jenin. They way to fight guerilla warfare and win convincingly, is to utterly destroy any area the guerrilas operate. And if that means killing civilians who did not leave despite numerous warnings, so be it. The "world opinion" knows and does not care that Hezbollah and other Muslim fighters attack from, retreat to and store weapons in mosques, hospitals, UN posts and civilian residences. They do not care in Iraq and they definately do not care in S. Lebanon and guess what the IDF and their brass brained leaders should not care either. It is often called a scorched earth policy and that is what will bring quite and peace to S. Lebanon. Kill everything that moves in that wretched area. Burn every tree and bush. Level every building. Make S. Lebanon a desert. And then tell the sponsor of these wonderful peace loving muslims that if another attack occur they can look forward to 500,000 refugees entering the burning cities of Tehran and Damascus. Who cares about pictures of the rockets and guns that the IDF captures. I do not need to see the dead Hezbollah, I'll take the IDF's word. Just level the area and whomever head pops out of a bunker of tunnel send the headless body back down with 10 grenades attached to it. As far the demonstrators in Haifa calling for negotiations with the murderers and for an end to Jewish life in Palestine. I propose that they become mine clearers and anti-ambush seekers. Let them provide a service for their country.
29. What?
Shimon ,   WY, US   (07.26.06)
Hezbollah ground forces are strong and good, we shouldnt go in with ground forces. Air Raids. 8 soldiers in hours? This is wrong. Bad planning.
30. So Sad
Ali ,   Ramallah - palestine   (07.26.06)
I am so sad for everybody who is killed in this war. This also includes the Israeli soldiers ( I know this is not accpted by many readers). To the Israli readers, did you reach the conclusion that NONE will win this war? We are loosers. Now you started to realize this fact that Ulmert cheated his people? NO victory in this war. More than 400 hundreds in lebanon are dead and million are homeless. Let us STOP THIS WAR, the sooner we do that is better for all of us.
