61. Israel is Lucky to have Olmert
John ,   Dallas, Texas   (07.27.06)
Osama never counted on George Bush; Hizbullah never counted on Olmert. God is with you. Send you enemy to the dark ages from where he came.
62. A blind eye by the world
Andrew ,   USA   (07.27.06)
I wish someone somewhere could explain why the world backs these Arabs. Look at what the Jews have contributed to the world, only a few million people, a miniscule percentage of the Arab population. Look at the inventions, the technology, the beauty, the art that these people have brought to us, to everyone all over the world. It seems that since the holocaust, no one has learned a thing. The world is weak and has no backbone. I'd love to see what Jaque Chiraq would be doing if islamic terrorists were launching rockets into Paris, or if they were landing in Norway or Spain. Obviously Europe learned nothing from the cartoons of Muhammed, and now we see RACIST cartoons of the Prime Minister of Israel. The world should be ashamed of their leaders. They should be ashamed that they scold Israel yet do nothing to punish these blood thirsty Arab dogs. All the jews have ever wanted was to stand side by side with people in peace. The only thing that people understand is force, and it's sickening.
63. resign!
joe k. ,   usa   (07.27.06)
right have Olmert resign and then be surrounded by terrorists again then what wait another 1 month or 6 months before the attacks and kidnapping are happening 4 times a day. the one thing that saves the day is the israeli heart not to be overrun. that is it give the terrorists an inch and they will be in tel aviv in 2 days.
64. Response to Rick
Charles ,   San Ramon, USA   (07.27.06)
Rick should resign from his keyboard until the fog clears from his cranial synapses. To lend credibility to a Londoner's evaluation of that conflict is beyond imagination. This fella is most likely an avid reader of the London Times a left wing bird cage liner who calls the terrorists that bombed their subways and buses "freedom fighters". What hogwash. Get real Rick.
65. Israel vs. World
Allen ,   Virginia   (07.27.06)
To see the world leaders rising up to condem Israel for it's handeling of the terror world around them, is sickening. Where are the conferences condeming Hezbollah & Hamas when suicide bombs & killings happen withing Israel. With the exception of the U.S., why does the world hate Israel? Israel goes out of it's way to be a fair, democratic neighbor to people, who they know want to annihalate them. Yet, to obtain peace, Israel has demonstrated restraint and a willingness to coexist. They have even offered up parts of their own land. How can the world hate a nation, a people, who has endured what no other people has. I think the world should trust that Israel know's what it's doing in defending and preserving their right to live. Nations of the past have tried to deny them this basic right....to Live in peace....but all have failed.
66. Gear up Boys!!
walter ,   U.S.A   (07.27.06)
Alliances are being made, lines are being drawn. This is not just "another" skirmish. This is war, world war, if you have the courage to face that fact.It is coming. War between The facists of Islam, the treachery of asia and the appeasers of Europe against America and Isreal. I say let it come.sadly, i welcome it.We will lose many lives. However, this can not go on as it is. Radical islam must be destroyed. i believe in God.but hold no religion. could not care less about religion. but can see CLEARLY that Islam sees nothing higher than itself.
67. Wake up, there is only one end
Gary ,   Dallas TX   (07.27.06)
There will always be terrorists who have no true country, only the propoganda fed "obliteration of Isreal". The only end will be when Isreal gives up all its land to Muslims or gets wiped off the map. You can fight a country. You can fight a race but you cant fight an ideal. Its so very wrong but unfortunatly true. I say Isreal, hold true and strong for as long as you can against the great lie. Cheers
68. IDF must fight SMARTER !!!
Andy ,   Dallas, Texas USA   (07.27.06)
I cannot believe they are going door2door, hand2hand combat !! It makes no sense, IDF has superior firepower, just sit back and use it. Use phosphur, napalm, smoke to get them to flee building, or just destroy entire building. Don't be stupid.
69. Teach Hizbullah a lesson they will never forget!!!
jf ,   nashville   (07.27.06)
70. #24, I agree with you that Olmert is worthless sh**, but
AK   (07.27.06)
then i wonder why are you running scared? Afraid that the Israeli Army, even with Olmert and Peretz will beat the crap out of your side? Be scared. Be very scared.
71. #27-No, because there were no World Leaders stopping Turkey.
AK   (07.27.06)
Syria knew that there would be calls for ceasefire, no Kofi Anan's idiotic statements, Rice would stay put in DC, and the EU wouldn't dare to offer an 'aid package' to Syria. And that's the whole unvarnished truth.
72. Jack in France
Tim ,   Kansas City, USA   (07.27.06)
Jack, Your analysis is not the brightest. Your country is being overrun by radical Islam and you still don't get it. No worries, world. Even if Jack doesn't get it, we do -- at least most of us. It comes down to this -- we must crush radical Islam, and we will. And they're just giving us more of an excuse every day.
73. #23, find some gonads
Tim ,   USA   (07.27.06)
Don't be such a wimp, Warren. This is going to be a long war. Don't beg these people. They're too crazy or stupid to know, as applicable, that they're going to lose, or whose side to be on. Radical Islam will dominate the world about the time Edward Kennedy becomes a Republican.
74. Olmert & Peretz: Resign! Let the adults run things.
Brochin ,   USA   (07.27.06)
Putting limits on his Generals?! Limits on using firepower?! What, to placate Frauhlein Reich and the State Dept?! Move aside, let the big boys run this show. You are out of your league and Hizbollah is desecrating the good name of the IDF.
75. UN.
Rob ,   Tilburg, the Netherl   (07.27.06)
The UN started all of this when they formally gave Palestine to the Jews. Indeed, Annan is the hypocritical leader of a most hypocritical organisation, the UN. The UN is just one thing: a laugh. Annan speaks constantly about peace with his soft voice but he doesn't understand what's going on in the world or how to reach peace.
76. To (46) John, Deer Park
Proud Grandpa ,   www.KingArik.net   (07.27.06)
Many families in Israel know today about crying and about white flags with two blue stripes and a Mogen David. Being strong does not mean misuse the might of IDF. Olmert is doing fatal mistakes since the crisis erupted. We are constantly astonished by the other side's preparations and by the lack of it on our side. Olmert is NO leader. The only place he can lead us is downhill. He better resign before making yet another mistake that would cost the lives of Israeli civilians and soldiers.
77. To Steven , Ga , # 43
Hiram ,   Tel Aviv   (07.27.06)
Steve... you are both right and wrong ! 1) Yes this war is a clear matter of Moslems radical leaders against the non-moslems. The palestino-palestinian situation has been used for over 48 years as an excuse to justify terror first locally, then against the " big satan" . However, no one in the international community refuses to admit that Islamist terror group, throughout the world are the ONLY one planting bombs in this 21st century. 2) Satan has nothing to do with this. Religion is a matter of personal faith and there are people who are atheist or secular and still do not approve of what is going one. Let Satan talks to those who believe. The reality is that Religion is what PEOPLE make it like ! If you read History you will see that throughout centuries Judaism, Christianism and Islam have about the same quantity of blood on their hands ! Some religions however have managed to progress and their evolution has brought up progress to mankind while some other have been used by people hungry for power and domination to return to a " conquest" philosophy which failed in the 8th century in Europe. There is a " satan" in each of us, regardless if bearded, bald, yellow or red. There is no difference between an Iranian gangster like Mahmoud-the -nazi and a North Korean dictator. Rember that if these people are anywhere in power, it is also the result of the international community's failure to timely prevent their being in power. We all bear responsability. It is clear however from Iranian " leadership" statements that this is becoming a war of religion. Jihad is the name , intellectual ,spiritual and physical terror is the game.
78. re: #1 Olmert needs a MEDAL!
USA ,   USA   (07.27.06)
On the contrary to #1's remarks, it is about time Israel come into a leader with a backbone. Instead of cursing him, we should all be praising him. He is doing what most countries are too afraid to do, out of fear of losing out on the oil ... and as far as having the backing of Unlce Sam... absolutely! And, ANY country willing to go against terrorism and/or terrorist sponsoring countries, Uncle Sam will back them too! London isn't necessarily an easy place to live due to terrorism either, so you know, they too depend on the U.S. for backing... so back up and realize what is going on instead of assuming it. Get real!
79. Finish the Job
Mike ,   Delafield, WI, USA   (07.27.06)
The French and the Russians remind me of the the kid who sat next to me in grade school. Each quarter, he received a check mark from the teacher for failing to "complete work begun." Chirac and Putin are involved for one reason only: to buy time for their Iranian and Syrian friends. Both leaders are intent on stopping the Iraealis from completing the work begun, or, simply put, finishing the job the right way. President Bush and Ms. Rice, please give Israel two more weeks to slay the Hezbollah monster. When will Americans and other Western governments wake-up and realize that the enemies of Israel are the enemies of the west? Islamo-facism needs to be dealt with now before these zealots obtain the weapons needed to threaten the civilized world.
80. Here is a real simple truth about Hezbollah and Jews
Anthony ,   Miami, FL USA   (07.27.06)
If you took all weapons from the terrorists ( Hezbollah, Al-Quaida, Iran) there would be peace. If you took all weapons from Israel they would be annihilated...hmm
81. Hezbollah/Israel
Pastor Art Lent ,   Harrison, ME USA   (07.27.06)
"Shema Yisrael .." Thank God for Olmert! I don't want Hezbollah to learn ANYTHING! I want them GONE!
82. Hezbollah soon to go the way of the dodo.
Funkmaster Chris ,   New York City   (07.27.06)
Hezbollah will soon be extinct. They will learn the hard way what happens when you push Israel too far. Yo, Hamas, pay close attention!
83. The good of the dictators . . .
John ,   austin, TX   (07.27.06)
I decry the omission of a central fact perinent to the "middle east conflict". Namely, why were the surrounding "arabic" countries unwilling to accept refugees from the "occupied" lands seized by Isreal in the various conflicts over the past half century? Answer: the surrounding regimes would rather refuse refugees entry into the un-occupied portions of their countries (i.e., Jordan and Syria, among others) and thus create a festering international wound, then alleviate the "suffering" of their citizens. When "palestinians" speak of the "right of return", shouldn't they mean the right, as citizens of Syria and Jordan (et al), to return to the "nations" of which they are citizens? What kind of a sadistic, narcissistic regime would leave it's own citizens to "suffer" under occupation, when it could instead embrace it's "endangered" populace with open arms? The fact of the matter is that the surrounding regimes would rather watch millions of its subjects "suffer" for political expediency, than accede to the generally ackowleged duty of civliized humans to aid their brothers. PS: Read your history, cretans
84. "lighten"
John ,   Chicago, IL   (07.27.06)
I think "Jack," of France means "enlighten" not "lighten." This confusion is particularly odd coming from a native of the country that once prided itself on bringing enlightenment to the world and even in lightening the burden of the Jews: all of this, of course, in the name of "ecrasez l'infame." We have learned, however, to expect little from France and its heinous and indeed craven coddling of Islamist murderers.
85. liberal appeasers
Bill ,   Spokane, USA   (07.27.06)
I see the liberal appeasers are out in full force tonight. Your cowardly ways have already cost far more lives than decisive victory has. It is time to nuke both Damascus and Tehran. With them gone, the vast majority of terrorism will cease.
86. Beliefs
Ordinary man ,   USA   (07.27.06)
Is Israel evil? I do not believe so. And herein lies the problem in my humble opinion. This current violence is about "beliefs". I believe that Israel has the right to exist. I believe that Israel has the right to defend herself. I believe that Jews are G-ds chosen people. I believe that my beliefs are repugnant and evil to those who do not share them. I believe innocent people on both sides will be killed as a result of my beliefs. I believe I am not that different from those who don't share my beliefs. I am a gentile who doesn't live in harms way.
87. Where is Arik?
blasater ,   appleland,usa   (07.27.06)
We need a general, not a mayor. Give us a WARRIOR.
88. Hezbollah will learn the hard way?
Smitty ,   New York, USA   (07.27.06)
Ha ha ha. Please close your mouth Mr. Olmert. You sound idiotic when they are the ones giving you a lesson.
89. to # 36--your right, except about the brave brits
jersey dave ,   new jersey   (07.27.06)
You're spot on about the socialistic, gutless, appeasing "euro-pee-ons". (I love your 'spelling' - real creative) The Brits however have been pretty steadfast in this fight so far and also in iraq. I just didn't want them lumped together w/ spain, france, germany, belguim among others in western europe. seems that we have far greater support in 'new europe' aka the former countries of the soviet bloc that have personally experienced soviet sponsored terror and human rights restrictions in their not too distant past
90. Jacks comments
Dennis ,   New Jersey USA   (07.27.06)
Jack. It would never be as easy as you claim. There will always be another reason for Hezzbollah to kill and attack Israel. And another and another.
