1. Colonists?
Robert ,   NJ USA   (07.27.06)
How the hell can you have peace when you have people like this calling Israelis colonists?
2. Read between the lines
Your Uncle Bob ,   Washington, DC   (07.27.06)
al-Masri claims to want peace, but he is no different than other Palestinians who only want Israel's ultimate destruction. “This is the Palestinian Hercules who will defeat Israel when the time comes,” says al-Masri. Yeah, he's a real dove. Granted, he is smarter than most Palestinians since he knows he needs to rebuild his "country" first. But once he felt he had the strength to destroy Israel, he would not hesitate one second.
3. $$$$$$$ Marry Me Now! $$$$$$$
Suha Ara_FAT ,   Ga(PARIS)za   (07.27.06)
4. bit of a contradiction?
BS meter ,   Canada   (07.27.06)
The part about wanting to live peacefully alongside Israel sounds promising. The "palestinian Hercules who will bring down Israel" doesn't. Maybe he just figures Hamas or Hezb might kill him for the former, and let him live for the latter. Politics as usual for the Palestinians.
5. Hope we get a new Government
A Bethlehemite   (07.27.06)
Good luck Munib and I hope you take the position as our PM and help us establish a peaceful Palestinian state side by side w/ Israel It isnt going to be easy but thanks for your efforts.
6. A thief
Sameer ,   Nablus   (07.27.06)
He has stolen Palestinian Money and spent it on himself and family. He took advantage of his corrupt connection with corrupt Arafat to make a lot of his money. I just hope we will never see the day that this corrupt man will make it to PM...NEVER
7. polishing of image
Raed ,   Ramallah   (07.27.06)
Dont believe for once that this man will make any center there. This is his home and he is not generous with his money to donate it. Also the only thing this man knows how to do is to promote himself. He is not the richest man in Palestine. Also Padico, Paltel and Stock exchqnge you mention has been founded by many True Palestinian hidden soldiers,,, who will be upset to see that this man like always is taking credit for it. We dont need people like him around our politics
8. Words don't work here...
L ,   NYC USA   (07.27.06)
"defeat Israel when the time comes" does not jibe with a peaceful coexistance beside Israel. Which one does he mean in both his rhetoric and heart? And 22% of Palestine... when was that "Palestine"?
9. Al Masri, that name means what, I forget?
AK   (07.27.06)
I believe it denotes the place the family came from, and it ain't local, as I remember vaguely. BTW, how exactly he came to all that mullah? How does one make such fortune in a land surviving on the UN's and EU's handouts and without natural resources. He didn't invent a new computer chip by any chance, or a new drug? No, of cause not.
10. Al Masri means 'The Egyptian' in Arabic
AK   (07.27.06)
With the name like his I suppose he is quite representative of the fake nation of 'the Palestinians'
11. if only
Eli ,   USA   (07.27.06)
Sounds good, lets see Hamas give up power willingly....
12. #10. Al Masri means 'The Egyptian' in Arabic
OBSERVER ,   CANADA   (07.27.06)
ARAFAT WAS ALSO AN EGYPTIAN >> Egyptian officials in Cairo, Egypt have his birth certificate on file, noting August 24, 1929 as his date of birth and Cairo as the place of birth << SOURCE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yasser_Arafat Throughout his career, Arafat's Egyptian background was a political impediment and source of personal embarrassment. One biographer notes that upon first meeting him in 1967, 'West Bankers did not like his Egyptian accent and ways and found them alien,' and to the very end Arafat employed an aide to translate his Egyptian dialect into Palestinian Arabic for conversing with his West Bank and Gaza subjects. As a young man, Arafat took no part in the formative experience of the Palestinian movement ― the 1948 Arab-Israeli war ― but he would nonetheless claim refugee status throughout his life: 'I am a refugee,' he cried out in a 1969 interview, 'Do you know what it means to be a refugee? I am a poor and helpless man. I have nothing, for I was expelled and dispossessed of my homeland.' (Arafat's congenital lying would continue for decades.) 13. One of Peres' cronies
Ariel ,   Judean Hills   (07.27.06)
Made a bundle from insider trading in Paltel as did Shimmy while fools from the USA let them take them for a ride. Shame on you y-net for printing such drivel.
14. Mr Al-Masri has impeccable taste
Ellen Prescott ,   Southsea, Hampshire   (07.28.06)
I absolutely adore all of the columns and the swimming bath is positively ravishing! Someday, I hope that all Palestinians will have the opportunity to succeed like Mr Al Masri has, however, with Israeli occupation, shellings, collective punishment and arrests seemingly endless, my dream for justice quickly becomes a nightmare once reality is taken into account.
15. Al-Masri
Sam ,   Alquds, Palestine   (07.28.06)
It really means the egyptian, as much as Tsarfati means the french and Sfaradi (the biggest cult of jews) means the spanish. I wonder how any of you (big discovery-makers) would answer that. Only idiots hit on a string they don't actually play well. The names of so-called Israelis reveal their origins. I just hope nobody thinks Goldstein is a genuine Netanyah (or Haifa for that matter) original trademark. Really pathetic.
16. A "Palestine" nation or people have ever existed!
Palestiniansareamyth ,   USA   (07.28.06)
This Arab is the richest Arab occupying Jewish land and that's it!
17. Another fake palestinian thief
Ivri   (07.28.06)
At least he is not a beggar like most. I havent seen such ugly architechture since Vegas, Ellen you seem to be turned on by tall columns....leave your phalic daydreams to yourself. Sam,you are as genuine to the land as the romans, and your time will come too.
18. Ellen, try looking at things the other way (reality)
(07.28.06)
If the Arabs didn't have a long standing war against innocent people maybe that may create a more open society that lends itself to economic growth. You need to read "a case for democracy" by Natan Shiransky. You may be enlightened... Let me know when you finished it. I'd like to discuss his ideas. blumken5@yahoo.com
19. al-masri actually is a rich family in the middle
UK   (07.28.06)
east. Not only him, his brothers and cousins etc, all are billionaires. They have strong investments all over the world. Just like many Palestinians and Lebanese worldwide, they are very successfull enterpreneur. It only also shows you how successful these people can be if they have peace.
20. Al Masri
Avraham ,   NYC   (07.28.06)
The name Al Masri means "The Egyptian". Let him go back where his ancestors have come from. One day the land and the house that stand on Jewish land usurped by Arabs will belong to a Jewish family or families. Why is Yediot Aharonot publishing an article focusing on fascination with this Arab enemy? His attitudes on Jewish settlement of the land (Jerusalem included) is very, very clear in his own words.
21. HOW ABOUT ONE HAPPY STATE CALLED JERUSALEM/ALQUDS
ANDREW ,   MIAMI,FL   (07.28.06)
Start thinking about this future, and I think that tomorrow will look wonderfull - take these words and spread them 1) The old Israel and the old Palestine are beginning to shed their skins so to speak - they will evolve into one country called "Jerusalem" "Al-quds" (never in its history has it ever been a country - it has always been a city) Why? Because they both cannot bare to SPLIT the space, but both would rather share, and integrate, and realize the true nature of their relationship 2) The "two state solution" is incorrect - HOWEVER - both nationality’s must be represented, yet not set against one another – ISRAEL AND PALESTINE ARE JERUSALEMS / ALQUDS INDIGINOUS STEWARDS Why? Because this joins them in a purpose - the glue that will always insure that that the well being of the country far outweighs the nationalist needs of two different tribes 3) The religious authority of the country: To galvanise all religions, the "council of faith" – will be made up of elected clerics who are masters of all 3 books – rather than having three different masters of one book haggling with one another why? Everyone will trust them
22. # 21 Please send us some of what u are smoking
Ivri   (07.28.06)
23. Egyptian has built a synagogue!
Israel Kachanist ,   Elon Moreh, Samaria,   (07.29.06)
Al-Masri means "egyptian". He all his relatives will be sent back to his country. He built a synagogue with 2 mikvas on the Jewish Land. He owes rent for using Eretz Yisroel. Thus, he owns nothing. Everything will be confiscated for State of Israel & Jewish People. Masris go home to arab lands!
24. Ignorant
Free Palestine ,   Palestine free   (07.29.06)
You need to have a new History Teacher for sure and you need to get used to hear the word Palestine, cause Palestine will be free and just read history good boy and you will see that history teaches you that of power of earth can not eliminate Nations, think about visiting a psycologyst too so he can help you think in the right way
25. If he can succeed any Arab in WB could
Miru ,   LI   (07.29.06)
But the typical Arab in the WB is too consumed with anti-semitism and a love of violence to focus their energies on being productive. Look how suicide bombings happened the moment the Arabs got their first dose of independence with the establishment of the PA. Arabs don't want a state of their own, they want to destroy Israel.
26. Typical propagandist
Jenny ,   USA   (07.29.06)
“Now the only thing left to do is fulfill my dream of seeing an independent Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, a state that will be established on only 22 percent of the area of Palestine. - Al Masir Well let's see - Jordan is 78% of Palestine, so how the hell is WB, GAZA and East Jerusalem 22% of Palestine? What about Tel Aviv, Haifa etc? Is he by any chance implying that "Palestine" will be formed on top of Israel? People -read between the lines. He is one of these so-called "moderates" we keep hearing about. You know the ones who want peace by flooding Israel with 4 million refugees and having a "hudna" for years ( to build up their army to fight Israel blah blah blah. ) We've heard it all. There are NO moderates left. And I thought I'd heard it all - an associate of Arafat's calling for peace. HAHAHAHAHAH. This guy should join Haninia in comedy tour. They'd really bring the house down.
27. #23 god bless you!
Alon Melmed ,   Oh   (07.29.06)
28. Peace? Truly?
Moshe ,   Israel   (12.15.07)
"For me, peace is an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel that would maintain good neighborly relations with Israel" says our Al Masri. However regarding the significance of his Hercules statue: "This is the Palestinian Hercules who will defeat Israel when the time comes,” says al-Masri. Can somebody explain tome what kind of peace is Al Masri talking about?
