Converting and killing people for religion is not foreign to Westerners and Christians as they invented it. Remember crusades. Remember Moores and Spain. Sure Sufiism is nice, sure there have been some nice Islamic leaders of the past, sure some minority of Islamic leaders today are not bloodthirsty monsters and sure the holy book can be interpreted in a way that is not violent. Comparing a tolerant historical Islam which may have been a majority view for a very short period of time with the Islam that is taught today by most Islamic scholars and practiced by most Islamic people is an irrelevant distraction. We are not worried about Sufis and the non-violent Islamic minorities. Or more accurately, we ARE worried that we might accidentally kill a bunch of them while we are going after their very violent neighbors who are bent on our destruction.
