Israel is either Chickening out or they know somegthing we dont know. Like Hizballah is kicking IDF asses;;;;;;SHame
2. There's always next week
Shai ,   Israel   (07.27.06)
In the meantime, now is the time for the opposition to the government to light a fire under Peretz and give him something else to think about other than "international criticism". Labor will apparently have to be forced out for this war to be fought properly.
3. U.S. WANTS AGGRESSOR ELBANON REWARDED WITH JEWISH LAND
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.27.06)
Muslims know when they attack Israel, the U.S. will pressure tiny Israel to give Jewish land to Israel's attackers. THERE IS NO WAR ON TERROR! The U.S. is repeating their pattern of exerting relentless pressure on Israel to give away Jewish land vital to Israel's defense to Israel's enemies. The U.S. EU UN Russia Road Map goal of a global Islamic terror state on Jewish land is an indefensible 6-10 miles wide Israel enabling a second Holocaust of Jews. Jerusalem Post JPost.com » Israel Jul. 26, 2006 Exclusive: US calls for Mount Dov talks By HERB KEINON The US is "counseling" Israel to negotiate a possible withdrawal from the Mount Dov (Shaba Farms) area with Lebanon as part of a long-term arrangement for Lebanon, The Jerusalem Post has learned. This issue was one of the focuses of US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's talks in Jerusalem Tuesday with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert... For the Lebanese, a victory could be an Israeli withdrawal from Mount Dov, and a massive international aid package... The area is a 100 square mile parcel of land located at the foot of Mount Hermon where the Syrian, Lebanese and Israeli borders meet. Israel took control of the area after the Six Day War in 1967, and since then has built up a number of military outposts on the strategic hills.
4. Reality bites.
Jay ,   Los Angeles   (07.27.06)
Olmert's Folly has cost hundreds of lives and has accomplished nothing other than exposting his own stupidity and the weakness of the IDF. The only sensible course now is to stop before the humiliation grows even more.
5. Crazy chiken
Ziko ,   usa   (07.27.06)
Israeli now is like a crazy chiken..leaders are even more crazy..pound from the air! good luck! may be when Hizbollah bombs from the air the Tel Aviv or the Daymona reactor, the chiken then will wake up...I can not imagine the scale of strategic ignorance with both, Isreal and the cowboys led USA..these guys want to end thier people and their country to satisfy their warfare fantasies..
6. Shirk From What Is Right!
Rick ,   USA   (07.27.06)
It is the Israeli populace who voted for Sharon and his appeasing ways. Now they have a government who is unwilling to do what history tells us it must. The Israelie electorate has only itself to blame for the past six years of appeasement and cowering. Now, certainly you are setting up a situation which will only embolden Israeli enemies from continuing their attacks-and goal of destroying the Jewish State. Apparently, Israel and her weak kneed government are unwilling to fight for their exsistence-instead, they will cower and look for who(?) in the world community to protect them. Never again is just around the corner. Israel....you deserve what you get.
7. how many
cordier   (07.27.06)
How many religious soldiers must be killed to correct the stupidity of the leftists ? The stupidity of Olmert, peretz and their bunch of hedonists who defend the right of arabs families to live in peace nurturing the terrorists who plan to kill jews and destroy israel and the right of so called jew civils servants and professors to bash israel...
8. ISRAELI PUSSYCATS
Rick ,   USA   (07.27.06)
When Israel suffers a fatal blow from those who wish it destroyed, their great leader Olmert will be able to look at the citizens of the world and proudly say we have earned all of your respect by allowing ourselves to be destroyed. Those who are kind to the cruel are cruel to the kind....
9. to #1
ibrahim ,   lebanon   (07.27.06)
its a shame how the israeli people think and feel about a legitimate war to defend the existence of israel.im not a jew nor israeli and i give all the support for israel and what the idf is doin in south lebanon.its a very brave soldiers u have, dont forget that the terrorist are hiding themselves between the civilians and inside the houses and they r in a defense side which means they prepared very good, and they know very good the area, not like the idf who is entering the villages facing a new kind of war that the world is newly facing it.second thing, its a obvious fact that the organisation of the devil hizb-shaytan is loosing alot of terrorist on the ground, but the difference is that idf have to declare about every soldier they loose coz their is families behind them that they will ask about them, not like the hizb-shaytan where the families of the terrorist dont give a fart about them, coz they r like bunnies, they can have a 25 kids inside one family till a point that the father wont even remember the names of his children, so the terrorist organisation feels no responsibility to report about anybody who is killed on the battlefield, so they can really hide their losses and serve as propaganda.so its not an easy job to get rid of this cancer called hizbala or hizb-shaytan, but with hard work alot of of sacrifices (not as much as the founders fathers of israel gave) u can achieve ur goal and succeed. with all love and prayers to ISRAEL.
10. 1 and 2
Ga'ash ,   boca raton, fl   (07.27.06)
(1) John, may the world save your pathetic country when the muslims come after you. The delusion that the fanatical muslim is only after the Jew and Israel is common but very very wrong. (2) Israel needs to learn that it is a sovereign country and does not need to listen to the rest of the world. The world hates Israel regardless, maybe its because the Jew "killed jesus" or god knows why, but it's a fact. We have an anti-semetic 'Kof' (monkey in hebrew, btw) as the UN secretary General and a generation of nazis running Europe. Israel needs to do what is best for Israel which is to eradicate Hezbollah and demolish Damascus and perhaps Tehran as well. It is only a matter of time before that war will be inevitable. Do it now before Tehran has nukes. The world respects the strong. Show strength, and earn your respect, killing off the scourge of this world in the process.
11. No cowboys please - this is not a television program
Karen R ,   USA   (07.27.06)
How many of the people calling for widespread invasion of Lebanon have actually been in a war and under fire? How many are risking getting killed themselves, or seeing their sons killed? This isn't a movie. The actors don't get up afterwards, wash off the fake blood and go home to dinner. The dead stay dead, the families stay bereaved. Hizbullah prepared for a ground invasion. Israel does not want what the US is going through in Iraq -with booby traps and bombs taking a tremendous toll because the US military doesn't like to think. Also, the cabinet states clearly it doesn't want a war with Syria. (Remember that Syria took the Golan Heights for a while in 1973. They are not wimps.) The Syrian government is nervous - they too have their own internal enemies waiting for an opportunity. It's fortunate we have a civilian PM and Defense minister, who can restrain the IDF when it gets dangerously enthusiastic. Israeli generals are great as military commanders - not so great as politicians. Israel needs balance.
12. What would make people like #4 happy?
DR ,   Florida, USA   (07.27.06)
If Israel goes all out and kills everyone in southern Lebanon including civilians, the whole world would scream in outrage, but Israel would win the war, right? But, no, Israel instead has morals and tries not to kill, even warning people to get out before they bomb. I wonder if the Heaballah scum leave too??? This makes it hard to get to Hezballlah. See how that works??? War is not an easy thing, especially when the whole world is watching every move you make and criticizing the whole time. People need to get real and stop pretending like they know what to do better than Israel's leaders.
13. To all ISREALI Friends... a message from Lebanon
Nabil ,   Lebanon   (07.27.06)
Some helpful advices: Apparently, u r being fooled by ur isreali media that keep on showing that IDF can win this war... and u r being brainwashed that isreali forces r the top elite and always ready for the war. Let me tell u , my friend: U R TOTALLY WRONG. Listen to Nassralah, and remember his words in the future! 16 days, and u did nothing... even if u want this war to last for more weeks, u will acheieve NOTHING!! Hizbullah is a GHOST, that wil keep its forces and defend our land + they will keep on throwing rockets on Isreal + they will keep on fighting ur GOLANI's and IDF top forces.... Do u want to hear the end of this story? Isreali pple, will revolt against their goverment in order to stop the war, and to go into the negotiations. After the number of losses will reach the 50 soldiers and more!!! We have nothing to loose now, we are used to such wars... but u have already lost ( Physically and Psychologially) now its Haifa.. later it might be Tel-Aviv. Think about it ;-)
14. ynot US come and fight
Ahmed   (07.27.06)
As always US are good at waging war. Y do u want to drag this conflict further?
15. US aid
usa   (07.27.06)
To all you Israeli critics of the US: Maybe the US should just stop giving Israel $6 billion in aid and military equipment every year, and we'll see what happens. The US should stop aid to Israel unless it stops this war on Lebanon and pulls out of Gaza and the West Bank. That would end a lot of fighting very quickly. So perhaps listening to international criticism on a outragously disproportionate response would be a good idea, because without money from the US, Israel would be in trouble.
16. Don't disappoint them!
Irina ,   Chicago, USA   (07.27.06)
Israel’s government should stop paying attention to what so-called “international community” is whining about. It has it’s duty to protect it’s own citizens. Everyone in Lebanon was warned to leave, whoever stayed there is aiding Hezbolahh or stayed their at their own risk. Level this place to the ground, and then send troops in. In arab and liberal world Israel’s intention of trying to avoid civilian casualties in Lebanon is taken as Israel’s weakness. Don’t disappoint them.
17. Israel too late now.
Hey I'm Ibrahim too ,   Lebanon   (07.27.06)
Your country (Israel) is in Lebanon now. The IAF can do as many air strikes as they want. They did it for 20 years before they realised they had fallen in a trap, and its not going to change now. On the other hand the IDF is weak as we have recently discovered. So pray all you want, and cheer them along for as long as you want, but know this... your grand children will still be singing the same old song long after you have died. For the simple fact that in 1948, the jews were 2000 years to late to try and reclaim a land they'd emmigrated long ago. There's nothing here for them but war, there will never be peace for a country known as "Israel". This is the sad truth.
18. stop this crazy now!
hadas ,   tel aviv/israel   (07.27.06)
people of isreal , i call you sharing me stop this horrible war,,,,believe me hizbulla can still figh for long long time in attrition war....this is not classic war... usa needs israel protect america goals in region which itself couldn't do in araq and afaganistan... task of idf is defending israel , not invading others....we can win classic wars without forcing interior...now , this is not classic one and our's interior is endangered... if we go on this war , we will severe long , we will be able to win , we go for missing war like afaganistan and irq don't believe america , what do usa need not imprtant to be true in fact at earth....fool and stupid usa thoghts and we have to be more cleveres and know what is our aims and goals. stop this war now safe israel now note:iaf has finished all targets , what will you do ...enough and in future.
19. Cabinet Made The Only Correct Decision
Paqid 16, Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.27.06)
The generals, absorbed in blowing up empty buildings and making holes in sand dunes, would bog us down in another mess. Many "resistance fighters" don't wear uniforms. Certainly, they aren't a military. Therefore, these terrorists are "civilians," including their equally hate-filled and bloodthirsty women inciters and children. In villages where residents were warned to leave, those remaining are enemy and must all be killed or captured with minimum risk to Israeli soldiers. Israel has an obligation to defend herself. If it's standing, blow it down before exposing soldiers. If it's a hole, drop ordinance in it from the air before exposing soldiers. If it breathes without surrendering, kill it before exposing soldiers. Win what you've undertaken, decisively and with finality, instead of biting off more than you've demonstrated you can chew to deflect attention. And don't lie to us anymore about whether you've subdued a village!!! Paqid Yirmeyahu Israeli Orthodox Jew Advancing Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming non-Jews www.netzarim.co.il
20. Totally STUPID
Shiloh ,   Israel   (07.27.06)
When do you listen to a plumer when you need brain surgery. Listen to the IDF, it's their job to kill. Israel is setting itself up for total defeat, I cannot freakin believe this government. The world media is making Israel look like total fools, and the Israeli gov't does nothing to defend itself. Appoint 1 spokesman, like Bibi, not 50 different wanna be's. Come on Olmert, wake up for the sake of our beautiful land and people. You need to be a leader and step up to the plate.
21. red light , green lights ,limited disaster
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.27.06)
As many of us watching and praying for Israel in this hour ,we see confusion and hesitancy and red lights and green lights and limited days for Israel to do what it has to do. We see Israel apologizing to the world for defending theie lives. We see political posturing and deals which keep Hezbollah alive and Israel's hands tied to outside agreements. This leash Israel is on is yanked and loosened so often that Israel is feels it has to have some kind of green light to fight and then on a limited basis. This is a recipie for failure and I believe this is the time in which the Holy One of Israel cuts the leash once and for all Romanian Dumitri Dudiman's nephew had a dream some years ago about America's end entitled The Eagle and the Serpent http://www.handofhelp.com/vision_52.php?PHPSESSID=910e90ee25506dc588cfa516811ee4e7 I believe the U.S. will shortly be attacked in a major way by Iran and N.Korea as proxies for Russia and China . U.S. troop in Iraq also decimated in a surprise attack which will cut the leash and allow Israel to do what it should have done long ago. I listend to Ahmadinejad last year warn that he would not wait for the U.S to attack Iran . I''ve also learned from God's Word that when God judges an arrogant nation ,He makes her leaders fools and we sure have arrived there. I think it's going to be such a horrific attack that it will shock the world. Then Israel willl return together to seek God ,no longer having the snare of red light, green lights or absolute dependance on a dubious ally.
22. To Ibrahim
Pavel ,   Scranton, USA   (07.27.06)
I'm ashamed to belong to the same race as Olmert and Peretz. Liberals suck and jewish libarals stink immensely. My hope is with people like you, Ibrahim.
23. Israel, Hezbollah and the UN
David Hes ,   Toronto, Canada   (07.27.06)
As I see, we, the world of the sane democracies, should fully support Israel. It is doing what the UN and the world should have done a few years ago. Disarm Hezbollah and render them helpless as a terrorist organization bent on destruction of both Israel and Lebanon. Now Israel is taking some losses in lives of young Israelis who are not only defending Israeli but attempting to rid the world of terrorst proxies of Iran. Anan, what are you doing about Iran? Syria? North Korea? All I hear from Mr. Anan is that Israel targetted UN Observers and killed them. There is more here than meets the eye. Why not look at the real culprit, in the mirror, you passed the resolution to disarm Hezbollah and now, instead of fullfilling your world obligation, you let Israel do your work and take the casulties. Nice work if you can get it and keep it Mr. Anan. You are like the Hezbollah, hiding behind the innocent. Wake up Europe, stand by Israel and freedom and democracy and a world without terrorists and those who support them. They are attacking Israel today but tomorrow it will likely be Europe.
24. Israel needs a decisive VICTORY....
David Hes ,   Toronto Canada   (07.27.06)
Israel needs to not just battle Hezbollah, it needs to anhillate Hezbollah. Israel needs to WIN this war. The government of Israel must fully support the IDF. War is expensive. It is even more expensive if you don't win. Forget about appeasing the world. In the long run they will be most grateful to Israel for doing what sane minds demand - rid the world of terrorism. Hezbollah was ordered, mandated to disarm the Mr. K. Anan and the UN. Anan is too busy critizing Israel when he should be critizing the world body, the UN for not taking care of business with Hezbollah, Norht Korea and the insanity of Iran and to a lesser degree the despicable Assad of Syria. Mr. Olmert, do something more than just talk. Win a war.
25. no limits
Ari ,   ny   (07.27.06)
bomb the heck out of hezbolla villages and then control territory with a large ground force. thats what it takes to win but unfortunately israelis don't want to win
26. Israel-Hezbullah Eyeball to Eyeball Israel Just Blinked!
World Citizen ,   the world   (07.27.06)
Face the music all you warmongers. War will get Israel nowhere. You have run up to the limits of your power. The Americans are getting tired of your bellicose foolishness. Before they wash their hands of you consider offering a hand in peace. My personal opinion is that the Palestinians and Hezbullah will live in peace with you if you return to your 1967 borders. I think that even they will recognize Israel's right to exist inside those borders. Let the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza truly control that land and you see it blossom and become a fully grown, and more importantly ,fully integrated part of the Israeli/Palestinian economy. When those people live and work and earn together with you they will have a vested interest in your survival and prosperity. It is your only hope. If you continue down the path of war Israel will eventually cease to exist in its current form. In your hearts I know you know I speak the truth. Think about it.
27. A Great Excuse for Yerida
Jeremy S. Slavin ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.27.06)
So, the "Security Cabinet" decided against actually trying to win the war. Thanks guys. I can't believe I was dumb enough to vote for you, Kadima! If that's the how it's gonna be with the so-called leaders of Israel, I'm moving back to America. Not that I haven't already been considering that before all this happened, but this makes such decisions that much easier - and more logically arguable - to make and support in the face of friends here who will, inevitably, chastise me. It's not that my homeland, the U.S., isn't a terror target. We all know it is. 9/11 showed to those who wouldn't believe it that America can be hit. I may not be any safer there. Still, together the United States are a lot bigger than Israel...and our neighbors are Canada and Mexico, not Egypt, Syria, Hezbollahstan and down the block, Iran. It would be irresponsible of me to stay in a country the size that Israel is, surrounded by the sort of enemies Israel has, if the leadership doesn't have the willingness to try and bring Israelis the sort of security that, after six decades of suffering war and terrorism, they deserve. Maybe others can reconcile themselves to living in fear, but God gave us free will, and the right to make our own choices, after all. If this is how it's gonna be, if the government will choose weakness, I'll choose to leave and go back home. I believe Olmert's words to the Knesset were hollow when he said Israel shall not be held hostage. If she doesn't fight to win, Israel will remain a willing hostage to her enemies when this is over. And I'll want no part of it. It's "battered wife returns to abusive husband" nonsensical. I came here to live life, not to fear death. But all I've done since move here is fear terrorists, look over my shoulder, and worry about the next war. Zionism isn't dead, but it's in danger. I'm an American Jew, with Israeli citizenship, but that's an afterthought, really. But American optimism is in danger along with Zionsim. I'd talk about Israeli optimism, but when has that ever existed? The West seems to be losing the will to fight against those who, whether the West fights or not, very much want to kill them. Using empty excuses such as "victory is impossible", so-called leaders hand the psychological edge to the terrorists and dictatorships of the world. God Help Us All.
