A paper which smells good propaganda. And what is this invention of Bint Jbeil, capital of Hezbollah?
35. Please advise, IS israeli aggression driven by Torah?
James ,   Australia   (07.28.06)
I recently watched a programme in which somebody (An atheist ) claimed that the old testament has numerous verses in which the jewish god asks the Israelites to kill the philastinites, rape their women and destroy them en mass. I actually was horrified but I went on and managed to find these verses indeed in the old testament. I am not an anti-semite but just wondered if the israelites do still believe in such things and this is what they are doing to lebanese and the palestinians now or do these verses have a different meaning or were they made up? Pleae clarify this point .

dude ,   usa   (07.29.06)
The events that happend thousands of years ago in the Torah have very little impact on the decisions of the Israeli government (for better or for worse) - the government is secular. Additionally, there are no commandments in the Torah to rape the enemy's women...that would be a direct prohibition.

WELL, if you are all Hezbollah, fadi, you will all have to be killed. in the millions. Bummer.
39. James (35)
sk ,   USA   (07.29.06)
Yes, James, you ARE an anti-Semite, so don't play sweetly innocent. While defer to the more knowledgeable individuals here, Torah instructs us to destroy the ENEMY before he destroys US, not to launch aggression on people minding their own business. Unlike Islam (and Christianity), Judaism is not expansionist. There is no connection between the Philistines and present-day "Palestinians." However, the "Pals" are, by now, the most nazified of the Arabs. As a group, the Pals probably are more nazified than Nazi Germany. Having shown themselves to be enemies, I would argue that Torah does instruct that they be killed or driven from the land, en masse. How's that?
40. #35 Thats total rubbish
Jew   (07.29.06)
All we want is our own little country called Israel, there is no such verse to rape woman, thats Islam for sure. We have laws when going into battle never take the spoils of the opposing armies. Yes we had to kill our enemies when our lives and our land is in danger as do all nations of the world do. And the video from your athiest, is a Neo Nazi like video. Total BS and I would hope looking at the Holocaust and how the Germans came to believe in the Nazi/Hitler's lies about the Jewish people that you wouldnt be such a fool. Such libels are like Jews eat babies and put their blood in our matza lol, or that we have horns, read the Tanach and read our history to undestand who we are instead of a Nazi like materials.
41. #32 Without the Torah, We Have No Claim To Israel
Jew ,   Israel   (07.29.06)
There would be no Jewish or "Israeli" people without the Bible, we would never have "come back" to Israel without the Torah. If we do not believe that Israel was given to us by the Almighty than we have no claim to Eretz Yisrael but have "stolen" it as the Arabs state daily. Every claim we have as a people comes from the Almighty, without our deep respect for Him through the Ages we would never continue as a people. It was not as Israelis did we come back to our land in 47, but as Jews. Remember That
42. #26...Big talk for a little man...

"we Lebanese and Palestinian want to live in peace in our mutual countries" And until then, you feel satisfied letting these Palestinian refugees waste away in camps. You're so full of it, Fadi.
44. to James #35
Anne ,   Sydney, Australia   (07.29.06)
Yes, there are horrific passages in the Old Testament but the modern Israelis are intelligent enough to know that they relate to events of some millenia ago, not today. Pity the Muslims show no such insight in regard to the Koran.

46. Right Question, Wrong Place
Ali ,   Beirut   (07.29.06)
This is a great question to ask, however, it is the wrong place to ask. Definitely no one would dare to confess this truth here, espcially that the israeli propaganda relies a lot on "victimization" Dear researcher, I can find any other logical explanation for the ongoing killing of civilians using chemical weapons, napalm, and cluster bombs. destroying a complete nation, bombing hospitals.
47. This is the XXXXth time I see this picture in two days...
Helen ,   Israel   (07.29.06)
Truly, media has an important role in viewing what happens, also in times of war-like circumstances. But showing this picture, with an exhausted soldier on a tank being cared for by his comrades in arms, head bent down and hands before his face, over and over again, can truly put some serious doubts into the minds of people. A picture says more than a thousand words and is processed in the brain about 60, 000 times faster than text, according to research. So, in these days, when people are restrained in shelters or in their secure rooms or near their homes, and their daily pattern of living has been scattered, the media should try to keep some balance in their reporting and their coverage of the happenings. The numerous incidents of rockets fallen in fields are accumulated in the news, hour by hour, while any hard fought for victories in the field are reported ONLY ONCE, even though these were won with hundreds of brave actions during hours and hours of fighting or alert. The over all message that people take in from the media is that rockets are constantly falling on us, while exhausted soldiers sit crying. While, in fact, most rockets don't hit their targets and most soldiers fight with resolution. - It is very excusable for soldiers to be tired after long hours of fighting, but could the reporters have the kindness to let them rest for an hour or two and take a breath, before they are photographed or interviewed? So many more interesting stories would then be told and the public could get a balanced view of what is happening.
48. Reply to # 21, Uncle Bob, you are so right...
Helen ,   Israel   (07.29.06)
The best of men can cry after a real battle experience - and training can only so far reduce the feelings of a human being. Even if you are the most efficient in the hour of battle, sooner or later there will come a reaction afterwards, whether you express your feelings immediately out of battle or have suppressed them until much later. Just a thought: Wouldn't it be better for women and children and aged people in the shelters not to see, on the news, the immediate pictures of soldiers leaving the battlefield - and the release of pent up stress that some of them show (and are fully entitled to show)? And wouldn't it be a grace from the reporter's side to let these men rest before they are photographed and interviewed?! - It's not like they are coming out from a football field, you know!
49. #35 It's true
Seabee ,   US   (07.29.06)
I think that makes sense, by mass killing of the philastinites, you can be sure that they and their future generations wont be able to represent any threat. It's the only way to ensure long term survival. Israel belongs to Jewish people and any other christians and muslims dont have rights to be there. As for the raping, if the old testaments say yes, it's legal, justified and necessary. Much like the ethnic cleansing, there must be a strong reason why it's stated in the old testaments. Just dont get caught or appear on TV.

51. Israel's Unjustified War
Anabella ,   LEBANON THE ETERNAL   (07.28.06)
Israel claims that fights is going against Hizbullah gorillas, unfortunately the isareli cabinet launches this lie and beleives it ... Just want to ask this dummy cabinet, is your war against Hizbullah has something to do with children fleeing from your state-terror in the south? Is your war against Hizbullah has something to do with safe houses in Beirut , Bekaa, or north Lebanon? Is your war against hizbullah has something to do with safe civilians hiding in the corners of their homes in Khyam? You are lying to your people and the worse is that you beleive what you lie... Just for one time, stand infornt of a mirror and look in your faces, do you see the shadows of those innocent you killed in south Lebanon. DO you see the faces of those little children who will be haunting you forever... Your soverignty is a big Lie, so is your security, you can not beat Hizbullah at all . Your soldiers are fighting for their salaries and for you. Hizbullah Gorillas are fighting for God , and you know that always God is the winner. Thanks for reading this

55. RE: James and the Torah
Ariklei ,   USA   (07.29.06)
How can you compare a more than 2000 years old reality with today's one. The philastinites to start are not the same people as the one we call palestinians, the first one were related to the Greeks, while the seconds are Arabs, threfore semites. In the this case the Torah only tells about the struggle of two nations for the control of a territory, and it is not a Gods command to the Jewish people to be carry against everybody. If we follow your logic we should assume that some day we'll be fighting for the control of Australia.

Maybe you should quote the chapter and verse, so we can go double check. And while you're waiting, have a leaf through the Koran.
57. #35 Judge Torah by Torah leaders
Aviva ,   Chicago   (07.29.06)
How interesting that the Old Testament seems to be full of these types of verses yet the Jews are constantly bending over backwards to seek peace and live in tranquility. Judge our beliefs by the types of people they produce -- I suggest you seek out any extremely learned and holy traditional Jewish rabbis and teachers and judge for yourself what type of human being Torah teachings produce. Also, the State of Israel at this time is by no means governed by Jewish Law so it has little bearing on the current situation. As a Jewish person, I sometimes also wondered at the verses about complete destruction of cities -- yet now seeing how an entire generation of "Palestinian" Arabs has been brainwashed from the cradle to be hate-filled, living weapons as their sole purpose in life, I begin to understand. Even so, it would be hard to imagine how the merciful and compassionate Jewish people, who treat the children of Saudi princes in their hospitals (shh, don't tell anyone), would be able to bring themselves to do what you are describing. P.S. I wouldn't really expect a professed atheist to say anything nice about Torah, would you?
58. Sure James, I'll help you
Bible Reader   (07.28.06)
First, the Philistines, who came by way of the sea to the Land of Israel are not related to Palestinians who are descended of Arabs who arrived in the area over a thousand years later. Second, most Palestinians are also not descended from those earlier Arabs. Third, the Israelis are descended from the Israelites but are not Israelites, they are Israelis. Fourth, the Israelis aren't "doing" anything to the Palestinians or Lebanese, they are protecting themselves from people who would like nothing less than to destroy Israel. Here's how it goes: Lebanese attack Israel time and again until finally Israel says, "enough!" and fights back. Since they have a stronger army, they do end up causing more damage than the Lebanese, but they still are not "doing" anything to them. If they wanted to carpet bomb sections of that country, they could. In another instance, you have Israel vacating Gaza completely but then receiving an onslaught of 1000 rockets fired at it over a period of months, Finally, after an over-the-border attack against Israel, it decides to send its troops back into Gaza to fight those who attacked it. Again, they have a stronger army so they cause more damage than the other side does to them, but the actions are legitimate and fair. Finally, none of these actions have anything to do with biblical verses, except of course for the fact that the bible was written in the Land of Israel and represents the collective history of the Jewish people, not to mention their historic connection to this land.

Umm... no. What Israel is trying to do is survive amongst terrorists who want to kill them, their families and children.
60. #1, IDF Example
Sheikh yer Bu'Tay ,   USA   (07.29.06)
Old Uncle Bob at #21 is right on the money about you. You are one of those sick bastards who think it's all glorious fun. When the time comes God will know you for the coward you really are. All you have done is show the world that the IDF is righeous and your side is evil.
