31. Re Jad well done!!! [end]

I am disturbed that when anyone suggests alternatives to war they are given a sobriquet that is meant to be offensive and is obviously hateful. If I agreed with your position that would be fine , but if I didn't then a quick look at my name would expose me as a goy. It isn't as if I can't understand what you are saying. Those children were warned to leave. Kids nowadays. They never seem to listen. P.S. Wether it comforts you or not when I hear news of an Israeli dying, being injured or displaced from their homes, I am saddened. It never occured to me to blame them. Even from my distance it is hard to fight hate from entering my heart. To be as close to it as you the challenge must be Davidian. Would that the jihadists spent more time with a jihad of their own moral character and less time injuring others. Perhaps we can only show them by example. To believe this takes faith in the face of great adversity. Please forgive me for my earlier sarcasm. It is a wonderful thing I have always admired in Jewish culture....humor to make a point even in the darkest of circumstances. Be as well as you can be in these very difficult times and don't be deceived into believing the whole world is against Israel. Otherwise when this is all over you'll be one of those people who don't go to parties anymore because they don't like it when all the paranoid people are looking at them. May G-d forgive us for laughing at such a serious moment. Sometimes people are just opposed to war. Keep the candle burning.

34. PR versus Hasbara
Paqid 16, Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.31.06)
Israel's communications have improved significantly. When Israel is ready to learn PR (or marketing), however, they first need to abandon the Hebrew term hasbara (explanation), which betrays its inadequacy, and set up some scholarships to the best American colleges in the fields of PR and marketing. If Hebrew can adapt American terms like television, gigobytes and other technical terms, then we can adapt PR and marketing rather than confuse the subjects with obsolete misperceptions. Most critically, listen to those who have studied PR and marketing. Paqid Yirmeyahu Israeli Orthodox Jew Advancing Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming non-Jews www.netzarim.co.il
35. How can Jews let this inferior culture beat them at PR?
Richard ,   NY   (07.31.06)
Israel has failed to communicate a few simple points. 1. Hisbollah started this and Hisbolla is responsible for the deaths of Lebanese. 2. Politicians like Nasrallah use these deaths to enhance their own political power. It is in their interests for their own people to die. 3. Hisbollah, Hamas et.al. target and kill Israeli children every day. 4. Hisbollah hides behind the civilian population and rejoices when people die because it helps their PR. 5.Jews were in Israel for 2500 years before the Muslim religion even existed. 6. There is no religious or political justification for the attacks against Israel. The leaders are simply ambitious psychopaths....same old story.
36. Marketing Statistics
David Severy ,   Baltimore, Md., USA   (07.31.06)
World : Total Population = 6,430,856,221 Muslim Total Population = 1,480,083,062 Jewish Total Population = 14,596,017 Jewish % population of world = 0.227% ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gentiles outnumber Jews 440 to 1. Muslims outnumber Jews 101 to 1 And the Gentile/Muslim world is afraid the Jew will take over? Excuse me, but if this weren't so pathetic, I would ROTFL. David
37. #13, Brian, the bleeding heart
aussie ,   Melbourne, Australia   (07.31.06)
I love your logic, mate! Because Hizbolla are certified criminals, there is no point in assessing them. May as well concentrate on Israel. The bastards don't dance in the streets, they must be war criminals. The true logic is this that killing Israeli civilians is a greater priority for "legendary" Hizbolla fighters than protecting their own. Thinking head is no smaller asset than a bleeding heart.
38. Oslo destroyed faith in our cause
Ariel ,   Judean Hills   (07.31.06)
Their cause became our cause. It still is Olmert's cause: he wants to give away Yesha and exile its Jewish residents.

41. I read today in the American Spectator
Stan ,   Bloomington, US   (07.31.06)
"The once-savvy Israelis apparently don't even know how to tell the world about what's going on. Didn't any of their military leaders watch some of the CENTCOM briefings on Iraq in 2003? (Note to Mr. Rumsfeld: Can't we lend them a cool pro such as Gen. Vince Brooks to teach them how to do a daily media brief?) Where are the photos of missiles being trucked into and launched from villages such as Qana? Where are the Israeli spokesmen condemning Hizballah's use of human shields? Israeli UN ambassador Dan Gillerman made a late start at this yesterday. Why aren't Olmert and Gen. Dan Halutz, the Israeli chief of staff, doing it every day? Someone ought to grab each of them by the shirtfront and shake some sense into them. They have to be made to understand that such media operations are just as important as the combat operations."
42. talkback #4
David Severy ,   Baltimore, Md. USA   (07.31.06)
4. what nonsense. This should be slightly altered to read 4. what nonsense : "maybe if we stop committing war crimes like we did today we won't be faced with an 'image problem'. Fellow Jews get with the picture - Israel is a pariah state led by war criminals. We must stop this horror perpetrated in our names. " A little punctuation to set things aright !!!!!
43. #4 Yoni visit Iraq, Afghanistan
jvd70 ,   amsterdam, nl   (07.31.06)
Israel is fighting the same war that the US and NATO is fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. If you think Israel is committing war crimes then how about the US and NATO? Many, many, many more civilians have died there. No theyre not war crimes, in a war in which the line between terrorist and civilian is consciously blurred by the terrorist, civilians pay the price, on all sides.

45. Agree with No: 2
Allan ,   london   (07.31.06)
Nannette, I couldnt agree more with you, the UK press is so biased it is almost unbeleivable. However, I have never know the Israeli PR to be as bad as it is now. With the exception of Bibi who is always articulate and gets the point across. I just think that Israel could use a ministry of information and have a 24/7 news network along the lines of CNN or Sky News but showing the Israeli side of the conflict. With fluent English speakers, plus other languages being bradcast, Arabic, French. Etc.. there are enough talented people in Israel to accomplish this, if only the Israeli goverment would just do it
46. Signed: A not Jewish one that loves the Israeli people!
Carlos H. Nehring ,   Teodoro Sampaio - Br   (08.01.06)
As you it said: Israel is a “very attractive product”, and is one “harnesses” in “pensantes heads” and high technology, because not a “economic peace”…, in the Brazil exists a proverbe, here that says: - In house that lacks bread, all fight and not has reason. Now, “eye for eye, tooth for tooth” in the scale of the midia, of today, in real time (type al jaazera) that here we attend, to leave watch and the colors, with blood and shouts… "clamor to the world, and does not have geopolitic pausible" especially in peoples not Jewish. Signed: A not Jewish one that loves the Israeli people!
47. Problem of marketing Israel's image abroad
Taco Slagter ,   The Netherlands   (08.02.06)
I agree partly with dr Gissin about Israel’s marketing problem in wartime. But he forgets to mention important matters which give Israel a bad standing abroad and influenced the media to take the ‘other’ side. 1. Israeli officials, like ambassadors and institutes abroad which are strongly linked to the Israeli government – like CIDI in the Netherlands – are not ‘neutral’ spokes(wo)men, but propagandists. So it sounds, so it is. The red tape through their statements is always: we are the poor Jewish people, the whole world is anti-Semitic and against us. This doesn’t work already for a long time. Gissin is right that Israel has radically to change its long term strategy towards the modern-multi-media press to get the REAL message in heart and minds of the international community. 2. But Israel’s biggest problem concerning its all out bad image abroad – and particularly in the Arab World – is NOT, as Gissin, presumes, a matter of bad marketing of the messages, but the refusal of the State of Israel to recognize the Palestinian rights to have a viable state on the West Bank and in Gaza with East-Jerusalem as its capital. A steadily policy of colonizing Palestinian land and ignoring international law and relevant UN-resolutions make an independent and viable Palestine almost impossible. Not the Palestinians created their own monster Hamas, but Israel’s (military) leadership, containing political fossils, as Sharon, Peres and all the others who contribute to the ‘naqba’ of the Palestinians. As long the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has not been solved by reasonable compromises which result in a viable, independent Palestinian State, as long no any marketing strategy towards the (international) media en world community will last, dr Gissen, nolens volens
